A Note of Thanks

I want to take a moment to thank all of our friends and supporters for over 3,000 get well cards, birthday cards, and ordination anniversary cards that I received in the past few weeks. I do not take this for granted. I am very grateful to each of you for your prayers and for your kindness.
I am not sure if you know how valuable your little acts of kindness, generosity, and support mean to your priests. For me, they are a reminder that I was ordained for you. My day to day ministry does not involve contact with the People of God personally, but as many of you have told me, “I feel like I know you. You have been in my home so many times through television, radio, the internet, or CDs and DVDs, etc.” Indeed, technology is a gift from God, and it helps us to be united in so many ways. One day I was marveling at the great charisms God had given to some of His saints. St. Pio was able to bilocate, being in two places at once. I asked the Holy Spirit if it would be good for someone a lot less than a saint, like me, to have such a gift. The answer was immediate and hit me like a lightning bolt, “You are speaking to large numbers of people every minute of every hour of every day in so many diverse parts of the world through all of the means of social communication.” It’s not a miracle above nature, but it is a miracle when you think about it. Our Father takes care of us in so many ways.
This weekend we celebrate Fathers’ Day. First of all let’s be thankful to our heavenly Father for all He does for us. Let’s thank our priests, who are spiritual fathers too. “No priests, no Eucharist.” I’m so thankful for priests. Then, let’s make sure we commend our natural fathers, living or deceased, to our heavenly Father.
I’ll pray for each of you on this Fathers’ Day, for in some mysterious way God our Father has related us spiritually. A father transmits life to his children. I’ll try to be faithful to that mission of the transmission of spiritual life. Pray for me, please, that I might always do this.
God bless you,
Fr. John Corapi
Thank you for posting this…🙂

St. John the Baptist

This week on “Weekly Wisdom” I’ll speak about one of my favorite saints, in fact my patron saint—John the Baptist. He reminds us that the Church is supposed to be endowed with the prophetic spirit of Christ in every age.
Jesus said of John the Baptist that no man born of woman was ever greater. John was a prophet in the tradition of Elijah and the other great prophets of the Old Testament. He was indeed a voice crying in the wilderness, making straight the paths for the Lord. As such he knew the Heart and Mind of God through long years of intense prayer in solitude and the penance that went with it. He, like Elijah, was zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. He was a champion of truth and of God.
Like all of the true prophets, St. John was not afraid of the evils of the times or the most powerful people who caused them and gave bad example to others. He spoke fearlessly to Pharisees and kings alike, unconcerned for his own welfare in the process. He was martyred for truth in the end. I wonder what John would have to say today? I wonder if he would give the evil rulers of the day a pass despite the blood on their hands, the blood of the most innocent—the unborn from abortion, the long ago born from euthanasia, the chronically sick because no one will take care of them? Or, would he bring down the wrath of nature and God alike on them, like Elijah did? The prophets, unlike most men of their day, could see clearly in the pure light of the God who is truth. They were not blind to that which is grossly immoral, nor were they concerned more for the glitter of silver and gold than the right to life for all human life.
I wonder who St. John the Baptist would vote for? Would gasoline prices, or anything else imaginable, be more important than the slaughter of the innocent through abortion, euthanasia, and other such crimes against humanity? What “proportionate reason” would he consider weighty enough to vindicate voting for those who condone and promote what is clearly tantamount to genocide? I wonder?
God bless you,
Fr. John Corapi

Dude! Typing in tongues! 👍

Ghoti:

Are you serious about that comment? Was Jimmy really trying to write in tongues! ha ha ha!😃

Old Leather Lungs. I guess he is ok if you are looking for an anecdotal person. Is there really a person there or is he computer generated?

What does that mean? I don’t think Fr. Corapi is robot-ish! How do you get that image? Curious …

Have you seen this past week’s Bookmark show. Father Corapi was on there via TV. He was in his “Weekly Wisdom” studio. He is doing really well although does appear to be very tired.

This is my little paraphrased abridged transcript of the show with 95% of it being Father Corapi talking, and it might not even be in the right order. But you’ll get the picture. 😉 Don’t forget, this is a paraphrased version with what I could remember from the show.

Doug: How are you feeling Father?

Father: It’s been an interesting time… something new for me… in the last 9 months or so… turned 60 and it was like falling off a cliff.
It was first diagnosed as the Flu then as pneumonia…
… there were 4 local diagnoses before going to the mayo clinic.
It’s an on going struggle but could be worse.
No cancer
It is probable that it is a non-malignant parathyroid tumor which is not common especially among men. Parathyroid glands control calcium which is essential for neurological function. … bones are depleted…
I feel very exhausted… just think of being exhausted for 9 months. It’s exhaustion with a lot of bone pain… bone loss … can cause kidney & heart damage.

Doug: Do you think it was providential to take off… ?

Father: Yes it was providential… my last parish visit was 2nd week in August and I got sick in last week of August.

He wanted to take off to write more. He has an outline for a book. His book is going to be called; COMBAT: A Field Manual For 21st Century Spiritual Warfare.
He wants to start work on a new TV Series for EWTN. He wants to do more Radio, internet and books.
He did talk about doing some more traveling to meet people.

Doug: Do you gain energy from that interaction with people?

Father: Yes. That’s all I did in the beginning. In the beginning it’s the only outlet I had. … want to be more diverse as far as ways of getting to the people.

He said he started as a deacon telling his conversion story and it was a “spring board” for his preaching. I’m sure he feels motivated by the people when he sees them in person. It’s as if it gives him a reason to go out there and preach. He know wants to do more Radio, TV and internet.

Father: If St Paul, and certainly Jesus, were alive today they would definitely be on EWTN …

Little bit of information about the day of his ordination and how he feels about it today:
Father Corapi was ordained by Pope John Paul II (as many of you already know) on Trinity Sunday. Mother Theresa was there also. She was there for some of the men in her group to be ordained.

Doug: Do you still feel that the two of them are still with you in your work? (meaning the late JPII & Mother Theresa)

Father: Absolutely. I felt I was in a great position with Pope John Paul II in front of me and Mother Theresa behind me. … we always have the Holy Father in front of us leading us and the saints protecting us from behind.

Doug asked him if he was feeling better and Father said yes. Father said that he thinks it was because of medication. He is being given massive doses of Vitamin D and other medications. But he does have to have surgery to remove the tumor. They just can’t find the tumor. Hey, do you think this woud be a good time to pray to Saint Anthony to help find the tumor? LOL 😃

If anyone saw the episode of Bookmark with Father Corapi please feel free to fill in the blanks of my paraphrased abridged transcript. It will be highly appreciated. I basically just put the highlights of the show on how he’s doing. They talked about other things also.

Father Corapi is definitely in my prayers. :crossrc:

AlegreFe:

Thank you for all that information! I’ve been wondering about Fr. a lot. I’m still praying for his total recovery!

God bless!

Thank you somuch for this information Allegre! I am grateful to God and to him for the fire that burns within me even brighter!:extrahappy:

You, american people are so gifted to have my two best preachers in your land. And I thank God that I am close enough to the border to have experienced them a number of times. God bless you all!❤️

I’m glad Fr. Corapi is feeling a little better, I will keep him in my prayers, so happy there is no cancer. Perhaps the tumor being gone is a gift from God too, no?
With God, all things are possible:thumbsup:

You can all call me Sandy. 😉

Since Father Corapi has the symptoms they think he has the tumor. They just can’t find it. So they need to find it in order to remove it. That is why I made that comment about praying to Saint Anthony to help find the tumor. But only if it is indeed there. If the tumor is not there, then praise the Lord! Pray for a miracle. :crossrc:

He sure seems robotic to me. Voice that sounds like it came from thje stage circa 1938, No changes in vocal pitch, no facial expresion changes. Can he smile?
Maybe with his illness, he will just fade away and we will continue to see reruns ala Bishop Sheen(Is his family getting royalties on reruns of his stuff?) Mother A and Father Mary whatever. By the way, why do they insist on being called Father? They aren’t my father.

Does this look like a smile?

fratres.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/corapi.jpg?w=175&h=224 or this? bp1.blogger.com/_5s_Hc6OyE8c/SC5ptQ5YOlI/AAAAAAAAASo/wDArXYiomXg/s200/Father+John+Corapi.JPG
These comments show that you have NEVER experienced him. He is Italian and a New Yorker…that should say it all! Have you ever seen tears in his eyes? Have you heard his gentleness when he said his goodbyes in Buffalo that made me cry like a baby? When he said he knew us (with the heart) and we would continue our conversation in heaven? Robot, not!

Maybe with his illness, he will just fade away and we will continue to see reruns ala Bishop Sheen(Is his family getting royalties on reruns of his stuff?)

He will never fade away as he has a prophetic and apostolic mission. His teaching is founded on Jesus Christ who founded the church on the rock of Peter.

Mother A and Father Mary whatever.

Maybe you would like to join her order in reparation for the comments you make?

By the way, why do they insist on being called Father? They aren’t my father.

Because they are our spiritual fathers…🤷

missymichelle:

Just out of curiosity, are you Catholic? Personally, I am offended by your comments about Fr. Corapi. Do you ever watch him on TV? I think that before you post such things, maybe you ought to research the Catholic faith: why do we call priests “father”, etc. This may help you in understanding the faith more.

Greetings.

missymichelle,

I hope that you continue reading and growing. Do not allow yourself to be closed-minded or to become a slave to a single ideological view…or a slave to ignorance.

In addition, for all of you here, who use the word “robot” to describe Father Corapi, I am guessing, that you have not had much structure or discipline in your own lives. Am I right?

Peace 🙂

Just out of curiosity, are you Catholic? …
Hello mom4truth,

I doubt it…missymichelle’s comments here are common, Protestant, anti-Catholic talking points. If this person is indeed a Catholic, then she is a confused Catholic and I hope and pray that she learns more about her Catholic faith.

We both know that “confused” Catholics can and have, caused a lot harm Catholicism…

Peace 🙂

Jimmy B:

Thanks for that post. I actually find it offensive that missy claimed Fr. to be robotic and maybe he’ll just fade away…I think that’s really uncharitable. How people can say Fr. is robotic is beyond me. He can forceful, gentle; he smiles, he makes sarcastic faces (in humor), etc. I just am not seeing what some others are seeing, and I am grateful that I am not see what they’re seeing. Maybe this says something about the individual. JMHO!
God bless jimmy - keep posting!
