I think why some people are “offended” by Father Corapi is because he “touches” something in them that needs attention. Oftentimes I find when I am "bothered " by what someone says it is because it is that very thing I need to “fix” within me.
Not to mention, a little fire and brimstone never hurt anyone. I’d listen to him speak anyday.I bet not too many people fall asleep during his sermons.

Amen to that! 👍

I was on this subject this morning. I just wanted to say one thing. Father Corapi could careless if he is liked or disliked. If you like his style of teaching or you don’t. All that matters is that he is pleasing to the one above. As he would say “go ahead make my day.” In other words he will do what he does best until the Lord no longer needs him to do his work .

By the way I also watch Mother Angelica over and over. I love her way of preaching and I will continue to watch her. Some of the people on EWTN can be a little boorrrrrring but they have a message. Oh my, I forgot, Father Pacwa and his cowboy boots also catch my eye. Thank God I can separate the message from the style of preaching or the person. :yup: :tiphat:

I am hearing you…not too many homilies speak the truth like these people preach it. I am so tired of Barney-style homilies…people love and it is about the love of God…but on the whole, a lot of people do not know what is sin.

I find Fr. Corapi to be the most approachable priest I have encountered thus far. (Keeping in mind that I have only been a Catholic since this past Easter, and have only encountered 4 priests, including Corapi) I like that he had his problems and doesn’t pretend to be pious and holier than thou…He has made mistakes and tells anyone who will listen about them. In my life I have often heard of priests who become priests straight out of high school. Fr. Corapi has done some sinning…he’s just like me! I LOVE HIM!!!👍

I like Father Corapi a lot.

But does it seem like Catholic Answers and he do not ever overlap? I mean I have never heard Father Corapi ever mention anyone of Catholic Answers, nor have I ever heard anyone from Catholic Answers mention him, he’s never been a guest on the radio show…what is going on there?

Granted they have degrees-of-separation overlap…i.e. Father Corapi and Jimmy Akin both know and talk about Mother Angelica, for example. But why do the two entities never join or reference each other?

I had EWTN on the other day and Father was on, I haven’t heard all his talks yet so I try to grab it when I can, well my dh heard him talk, boy was he pleasantly surprised at the honesty he was hearing from a priest. He said is this truly a priest I said yeah they are human you know, he was happy to listen to him.

My dh could relate to the military and drug experience and it was a good witness.
I thank him for it:thumbsup:

Some people are Called by God to be Watchmen, and to **warn the Flock **of impending Danger.

God, it seems, spends a number of years ***Training and Disciplining ***those He’s called. He seems to allow them to live the horror of a sinner condemned to hell, someone liked but then dispised (i.e. Saint Paul) ***before ***he gives them the Grace of Redemption.

These are His Christian Soldiers. ***They know ***who they are.

After having found the Lord, after having been ***rescued, redeemed and resurrected ***to Christian service – Nothing can tear them away from their Faithful Committment to God.

Father Corapi, in my opinion, is one such person.

***He has a Message, given to him by God. ***

Because God gave him the Message and the Mission – he will not let go, he will not give up – and he will not give In.

Father Corapi is a Priest with a Mission – His Mission is his Message
.

Oh that God would *Have Mercy on us all *and Send more priests with a Mission!

I do wonder though, how many people on this forum, could tollerate his strong words (spoken in truth and love) because we are a nation conditioned to being pampered and coddled.

Will we raise a fist when God corrects us, simply walk away like the young rich man when Jesus told him to sell all that he had and give to the poor – or will we with true humility take the correction that will bring us closer to God?

Okay everyone always talks about how harsh he seems, but I’ve only seen his personal testimony and brief segments of his show. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him say anything I would consider “strong” or “harsh.”

Now St Jerome, he could be harsh.

What exactly does Father Corapi say that upsets people?

In my opinion, he speaks plainly and truthfully.

He did spend a career in the Marines and so he has a natural bluntness to his talks, no frills, you know.

But a lot of us like that. It is refreshing. He is definitely not a phony and the impression people get is that his message is too serious to water down.

As a veteran myself, I appreciate his plain-spoken way, and his love for the Lord and His gospel. 👍

He was Army SF and was out of the pipeline from injury prior to ship. I have almost the exact same thing happen to me, thats why I remembered it. Tim

Maybe he is Army, Tim. He did come to our parish about 10 years ago, and I thought he said he was a Marine. But maybe I got it wrong. Anyway, does it really matter all that much?

He served his country, and that changes you.

Father Corapi is probably my favorite priest on ewtn. i love to hear his stories about before he became a priest. he is very insperational for me. lets me know everyone even priests have hard time now and then.

I like Father John Corapi and enjoy listening to his message, usually on EWTN. His style might seem assertive to some “timid” people, but his message, is a good one and consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
I love ‘Fadda John!’

Honestly, I get a better education watching his program than I did in my own RCIA classes.

😃

PS:
I don’t know what to make of this. Father Corapi has given me much insight into the Catechism and I’ve learned a lot from him. But seeing him with the dead bear has me perplexed. I love all God’s creatures. I even prayed for the poor bear. It was, after all, the bear’s home, its habitat. It wasn’t attacking him. Why destroy such a magnificent creature? I wish he hadn’t done that. I strongly disapprove of his hunting and killing the bear and I pray he’s not doing it anymore. I’m even going to ask about it on his website. I respect Fr. Corapi; but cannot accept the destruction of God’s creatures.
It’s an animal. And I question that the ‘rights’ of bears should supersede the rights of humans.

Personally I don’t believe I’d ever shoot one, but hunting is a legitimate sport.

I wonder whether you get as upset over abortion. Since I don’t really know you, I’m just asking.
