It’s the way he gets to the point that is suspect and off putting. Getting to the point is fine but I don’t like the hell fire & brimstone preacher. If you want that, go to a Penecostal Church. My opinionPerhaps some people don’t like a priest who gets to the point?![]()
Hi mom4truth…maybe its his voice…some might think it harsh soundingI suppose he could be a little abrasive-sounding to some. However, have you heard his conversion story? He was no saint in his younger days. He publicly states his sinful past and discusses his “reversion”. He’s had a rough life and a “been there, done that” life, too. I think he relates to the common man. He’s just like us. Says he is, makes no excuses, but then carries on and chooses the Truth and the Light. Now that’s what I call a real story!![]()

Have you heard his talk on addictions?I fully agree. The passion he had for sinning was converted to a passion for Christ. Our catholic history has many, many saints who went the same path. If people find Fr corapi abrasive, well, let them listen to St Paul, St Ignatius, even Padre Pio in confession. Might open some eyes. Even Fr Geoeschel can be very, very abrasive. I have been to conferences given by Fr john and Fr Benedict. Some people just might walk away from Fr Groeschel when he says catholics are stupid…not all of them…but enough of them, He even plans to write a book about it; How to be a stupid catholic…Code:
Truth will always be abrasive. Even Jesus was abrasive…abrasive enough to get crucified…
God bless all priests who speak the truth…in black and white and not grey!!! The devil loves grey!
Have you heard his talk on addictions?
Its very good…I’m going to watch it again this afternoon. It sometimes takes a couple times for it to sink throughAimee I have heard many of this talks but not that one. I should loan it from my friend. I think I need it!Code:![]()

What would people who have guns and religion have to fear?I think he speaks to those who “cling to guns and religion” out of fear.
Yes, I have heard his conversion story. It’s great that he found God and the Church. However, his conversion story is irrelevant in the context of considering his off-putting presentation style.
This is true.
And I’m not sure about the “common man” aspect. I didn’t know any men in my life that were addicted to concaine.
You have lived a very good life. I live in a very small town and i am 57 years old and I know, within my city, people who have been/are addicted to cocaine. The father to my grandchild was. It is very common!
I’m not saying this is not a reality, but neither is it “common”, at least not to my experience.
Again, to your won experience. Your experience is not the world’s experience. And people who are addicted to cocaine, don’t advertise it. It becomes evident when they are far into it.
Furthermore, to say such is “common” does a disservice to a large segment of the population.
Wrong. Drugs are all around me and i live in a 15,0000 person city. If it is here, it’s in the big cities big time.
I think he speaks to those who “cling to guns and religion” out of fear.
He speaks in reality. And the reality is scary sometimes. If you do not think so…go to Buffalo and see what they experience at St Luke’s Mission.
Seriously though, I take issue with his fear-mongering.
Many of our great people were the very same way. Like St Paul…you would not have liked him either. And yet he was chosen by God.
I cannot trust a message based on flawed logic.
Flawed logic.?..it would behoove me to even think that way of him. This man is a genius and there is nothing lacking in his logic. Please give one of his quotes to prove your point. Otherwise do not make statements like that.
Fr. Corapi loses me when I hear him go on about our sin in America and blame the tradegies of 9-11 and Katrina (I’m assuming from his reference to “natural disasters”) on “America’s ‘sin’” as he does in his “wake up America” lecture. That’s just wrong and gives me cause to distrust the messenger.
Excuse me? Your patiotism shows more here than reality. The US will have a lot to answer to God. And so will Canada, etc etc. And Canada is worse. But when he speaks like that, I take it for my own country. Fr Corapi is a prophet of our times. It is time to listen up! God does use natural disasters to redress His people. It’s in the bible…look it up!
And there is no one as patriotic than Fr corapi. He loves his country and served his country very well…prophets are not like overall. And you are a classic example. Read Jeremiah! Isaiah! Jonah! Ezechiel! Man, these are classic examples ofprophets. Fr Corapi fits the bill…
Only my opinion![]()
I know many love him and I respect that.
It does not come across that way though. You keep denigrading him when threads about him pop up. He may have touched a nerve though…
Every country wherein human beings reside will have to answer to God. Natural disasters happen all the time all over the world. Do you contend that every unfortunate event is the Hand of God rebuking some sin or sinner? From Katrina to the Indonesian tsunami to car accidents to a lack of salmon in the waters off the northwest coast to a string of red lights on my way to work? Or do you (and Fr. Corapi) just do so when it fits your preconcieved notion of how things ought to be. That’s not prophecy and it’s certainly not “genius”, rather it is cold-hearted, opportunistic prejudice.US will have a lot to answer to God. And so will Canada, etc etc. And Canada is worse. Fr Corapi is a prophet. A prophet does not mince his words. Fr corapi is very well-known for that. When disasters are used as punishments (as is experienced many times in past history…take WW2 for example), it a sign of mercy from God to repent. Do I say that this is such? As I said, past history dictates to us that this happens. But to point at Katrina as a God’s sign…I am not in that position to say so. But maybe Fr corapi is. I have never heard him say that though. I have heard him say that 911 will be like a walk in the park if we do not change our ways. Many prophets have said this to their people. Nothing new here also.Every country wherein human beings reside will have to answer to God. Also, we should note that just because a person is not liked, it does not mean they are prophets of any kind nor that they speak any particular truth. Rather, it suggests that a person displays certain off-putting behaviors such as condescension, abrasiveness, self-aggrandizement, or other equally distasteful examples.
Anamachara, the bottom of your statement states “Be gentle to all and stern with yourself.”
You come across as an oppressed soul! Not suprised you are quoting St. Teresqa of Avila. Need to pray to her more, keep the faith!![]()
