IOur Bishop years ago tried to hired him as the head of our religious education in our diocese. Now, this caused a huge melt down apparently. **Several **priests, nuns and religous threw a fit over it and talked the bishop out of it.
I may be in left field here but several priests and nuns are very liberal (in my diocese also). So, I would not be surprised at this statement.
I I also love Fr. Greeley.
Fr Greeley is a priest whom I would stay away from…real far.

I was not trying to be negative about Fr. Corapi. I was just being honest. I don’t like his style because he reminds me of my professors in grad school. I always feel that I’m in class.fr. corapi does take some getting used to. i didn’t like him at first, but i was drawn to his teaching, i learned a lot from him. i was more inclined to learn what i could from him than to not listen because he had a strange voice or style.a lot of people aren’t in the position to get a degree in theology or read skads of books. catholic radio and podcasting has been a blessing for those of us who want to learn on the go.

Let’s put things into perspective. Fr. Corapi was not run out of the diocese. He was never hired by them. The situation was that his name came up as a candidate for the position as Diocesan Director of Religious Education and there were protests.the funny thing tho, it was the sacramento diocese that requested the series on the catechism in the first place. but, i guess good came out of them running him out of town. i imagine that fr. corapi would of have had a little more obligations being their DRE and less time for all of the lectures that are now available to us. so it was a good thing:thumbsup:![]()
I honestly don’t know the facts as I said. We have good priests, nuns etc in our diocese. I trust the decision and I’m personally very happy they didn’t hire him. My opinion. No one has to agree with me.Let’s put things into perspective. Fr. Corapi was not run out of the diocese. He was never hired by them. No one has ever said what ther protests were about. They may not have had anything to do with his theology. It may have had to do with his personality or the requirements that he may have put on the table in order to accept the job or that his congregation may have put on the table.
There may have been issues over what the diocese expected of him and he did not agree.
Remember, Fr. Corapi is a religious. He has no obligation to any diocese, nor does any diocese have an obligation to him. These contracts have to be negotiated. Sometimes the issues may have more to do with the actual contract than with theology.

I think you have the right perspective Chew, things tend to work out the way they are supposed to. Had he been stuck in one place with it’s many obligations, his ministry would have taken on a very different direction. We have all benefited from the way things turned out, those of us who like him anyway.the funny thing tho, it was the sacramento diocese that requested the series on the catechism in the first place. but, i guess good came out of them running him out of town. i imagine that fr. corapi would of have had a little more obligations being their DRE and less time for all of the lectures that are now available to us. so it was a good thing:thumbsup:![]()
I don’t believe that God punishes with disasters…but rather, the devil causes them. The devil does so…because what is the first thing that is usually said after? “Why did God let that happen?”Fr Corapi is a prophet. A prophet does not mince his words. Fr corapi is very well-known for that. When disasters are used as punishments (as is experienced many times in past history…take WW2 for example), it a sign of mercy from God to repent. Do I say that this is such? As I said, past history dictates to us that this happens. But to point at Katrina as a God’s sign…I am not in that position to say so. But maybe Fr corapi is. I have never heard him say that though. I have heard him say that 911 will be like a walk in the park if we do not change our ways. Many prophets have said this to their people. Nothing new here also.
As far as the countries, I do not recall any other country proclaiming the fact that they base their philosophy/morality on God’s law. Or even have their coins stamped with ‘In God we Trust’. Considering the times, it is ironic. And this alone could be a slap in the face to God when millions and millions of babies in utero are being terrorized…only because they are not wanted. Talk to me about a Holocaust here…and this is only one example…
Fr Corapi is a prophet of our times. Listen up!
And if you are as educated as Fr corapi…please let me know. He is a genius especially in the spiritual world.
You know…you can always tune into Fr. William Casey…he’s awesome as well. Or there is Fr. Mitch Pacwa…who speaks the truth, but does so in a very calm manner…usually! In fact, there are several priests on EWTN that are remarkable in their honesty and directness.I actually said his message is wrong especially when he implied that America’s sin caused 9-11. Now if this is what the Church actually teaches this then I’d be happy to say he was right.his “wake up America” was wrong **in my opinion. ** We dicussed this a few pages back. I don’t know for sure if he teaches in error Chew when it comes to the catechism. I doubt he does. Our Bishop years ago tried to hired him as the head of our religious education in our diocese. Now, this caused a huge melt down apparently. **Several **priests, nuns and religous threw a fit over it and talked the bishop out of it. Someone on this site is from my diocses and remembers it well because she is a huge fan of Fr. Corapi. She was very hurt over it. Now I’m saying this because obviously there are some who do not like him and perhaps the way he teaches flys in the face of other aspects of our faith?? I don’t know.
I have yet to find out what the soul reason why he was run out of our fair city. But he isn’t for everyone that’s for sure!
I think it’s great that many like him and have thier faith strenghtened by him. I fully respect that. But respect for other opinions is needed here as well. I happen to love Bishop Sheen. He speaks my language.I also love Fr. Greeley.
I try and listen to all sorts of different priests. In fact I’ll be taking a class on Monday nights from now until August on the topic of our Catholic faith
Can’t wait.
Just a thought, but it could be that perhaps, he is seen as “more valuable” traveling the nation and doing what he has been doing, rather than being “stuck” at one parish.Let’s put things into perspective. Hello mom4truth,I suppose he could be a little abrasive-sounding to some. However, have you heard his conversion story? He was no saint in his younger days. He publicly states his sinful past and discusses his “reversion”. He’s had a rough life and a “been there, done that” life, too. I think he relates to the common man. He’s just like us. Says he is, makes no excuses, but then carries on and chooses the Truth and the Light. Now that’s what I call a real story!![]()
And remember…“every saint was a sinner, every sinner can be a saint!”Hello mom4truth,
Good post…I just wanted to add, that life can be “abrasive”… to some more than others…We are all wounded by are own sins and by the sins of others, so sometimes it is hard to see Jesus in others but that doesn’t mean that He is not there.
Peace![]()
Except for Saint Mary, the Mother of God and sinless…Good postAnd remember…“every saint was a sinner, every sinner can be a saint!”![]()
I don’t believe that God punishes with disasters…but rather, the devil causes them. The devil does so…because what is the first thing that is usually said after? “Why did God let that happen?”
I personnally never said that that a certain disaster is God punishing us. I said it is possible that He may use disasters to wake us up. We only have to read the OT, the prediction of war by Our Lady to the Fatima children if the world did not repent of their sins or a worse war would happen (WW2).
Does it not make sense that the devil does indeed create events, such as 9/11 (he took men who were sinful and put into their minds, the thoughts to commit further, heinous and very grevious sin) so that many begin to question God and begin to move away from God out of anger, hurt, suffering, etc.
Our Lady of Fatima also said that that Russia would spread her errors in the world and many would die. The devil is not allowed to do anything without the God Himself allowing it.
As for Fr. Corapi stating that 9/11 happened because of our sinful nature…that is not at all what he meant…
I stated that Fr Corapi said that 911 would be a walk in a park if we do not change our ways.
I have been listening him to years…he has made it quite clear that our sinful behavior further encourages MORE sinful behavior, however, he’s not ever stated, that I know of…that "God punished American by picking 19 men to fly planes into our buildings for the sake of killing)…and to think such, is just absurd and rather twisted.
You are making this conclusion not him. He just said that we must change our ways.
As many, have stated, Fr. Corapi simply speaks the truth…it is THAT what many do not like about him…simply because they don’t want to hear it!
True.
How many Catholics today would cringe when they hear him talking about artificial contraception?? Doesn’t change the fact that what he is speaking is the absolute TRUTH…all it demonstrates is that those people want to deny the truth, so they can live as they choose.
True.
I wish we had an army of Fr. Corapi’s…we so desperately need him today. I have given out his DVD’s to friends, family…anyone I can think of, because he is so powerful and the truth is so clear when he speaks!
Very, very true.
Don’t worry about whether or not someone “likes” him…USE his words, spread the messages he gives us…the SAME messages Christ gave us! God has provided us with this man as a tool to bring His truth into the world!!! He’s a great gift and should be shared with as many as possible!
Very well put.

Sorry…I didn’t actually mean to insinuate that you said or felt that way about disasters…I just sort of used your post to jump in to the discussion!Code:
Here is a general comment -
I have read some posts here, where some have said that they do not “like“ the man; Fr. Corapi. How can anyone dislike the man because of style or presentation? Is this a case where style is preferred to substance? The only thing that truly matters, is Truth and Fr. Corapi speaks the Truth. I believe, if those here, who do not “like” Fr. Corapi, were to read a transcript of his comments, especially Catholics, they would find his comments consistent with Catholic teachings, humble, kind and charitable.
