Do you make your bed every day?

I’ve found this to be one of those topics in life where people tend to fall into one of two extremes: either they feel like leaving a bed unmade in the morning will cause the collapse of civilization, or they feel that making a bed every day makes as much sense as ironing socks.

I’m curious as to how the percentage will look.

For the record, I don’t iron socks, and I only make the bed when changing the bed linens (weekly) which I voted as “almost never”.

Fortunately my BS and I are in agreement about this. I’ve always wondered how those couples that come from the opposite extremes compromise.

Explanation of my vote of “Almost Never.” My husband works at night, I work during the day. 'nuff said! He sleeps a split shift (comes home from work and goes to bed as I am getting up, then gets up for several hours, then goes back to bed for two hours before getting up for work–WHEW!).

It would be futile to try to make the bed.

When he’s deployed or on his annual training, I make the bed daily.

I only make my bed when my mother comes to visit or when I clean my room.

I make my bed every morning because my bedroom is on the main floor and my bathroom is inside my bedroom. I really don’t want people to see it not made, it makes my room look sloppy. It’s just a habit I got into. GOD Bless

I make the bed every morning. I like to get into nice smooth sheets at night. However, per another poll about changing sheets: not very often!!!😃

I also make the kids do the beds up in the morning. It sure makes their rooms look neater.

Very seldom. My wife, however, makes the bed every morning while I am in the shower.

Peace
Tim

If I am doing laundry, I make my bed, as it’s the best staging ground for sorting into the appropriate piles. However, that’s not quite daily (but it is pretty close). Maybe 5-6 of 7 days every week.

I voted Almost Always but only because there was not an Always Without Fail choice. Our bed is made every morning along with the kids beds. It’s never not made unless the bed is stripped because the sheets are being washed.

Hey, there’s another thread…how often do you wash your sheets? I wash them every week, but the question recently came up in conversation with some friends of mine and I discovered that I was the odd ball. :whacky:

Though I voted almost always, I would prefer “yes, every day”. I detest disorder and love everything neat, BUT…I have an old cat that lives on the bed and I don’t like to disturb him. I check frequently to see if he’s off the bed; if so, I hurry and make it before he comes creaking back to it.

Cloth and paper editions available on Amazon.com
Quality Paperback Book Club

Partaking in the perennial rediscovery inherent in the marriage bed, these contemporary American writers celebrate the sensual aspects of marriage in all of its cycles, from early courtship and the thrills of “The Newlywed Bed,” to the autumnal joys of “The Forever Bed.” Like a box of fine chocolates, this book of sensual writing is meant to be shared, and compared to a box of candy, or a dozen roses, it will last a lot longer.

Yes, I make my bed everyday. This is a good habit I acquired from my mother. My mother acquired it from her mother.

I have read that we shouldn’t make the beds immediately. Let them air and dry a bit. Dust mites are less likely to survive and thrive.

While I agree that it is, indeed, a habit, I’m not sure I agree with the value judgement! 😉

While visiting Plimoth Plantation MA plimoth.org/ a few years ago I noticed that the beds were unmade during the daytime. The actor/villagers in the bedrooms couldn’t explain to me why the beds were unmade. I think I embarrassed them. 😉

I stopped making my bed years ago. I only make it when I put new sheets on, or when cleaning up when someone’s coming over. I just don’t see the point.

I make it daily. I put bolster pillows on and use it like a couch in my room.

My DH makes it while I’m in the shower - every morning - even on weekends! He also turns down the bed for me at night 🙂

👍 :clapping:

I make it every day. its the only thing my hubby is picky about. it only takes a couple of minutes and makes him happy, so why not! plus i am what you call a neurotic neat nic!

I make my bed every day, because I associate unmade beds (along with applesauce, Jell-O and tea with honey) with illness.

I don’t always make it up very neatly, because my cats usually like to “help” me, and I have to arrange the sheets and covers around them.

(I have never ironed a sock, by the way. 😉 )
