Do you make your bed every day?

Not unless company is coming and they’re gonna throw their coats on it. Thats usually Christmas & Thanksgiving. Otherwise it remains unmade and doesnt bother me at all.

Almost never. I usually straighten the covers at some point before I go to bed again but I rarely properly make it.

I only make my bed when people come over. I dont know why that is, I guess I never think to do it. 😛

Absolutely. Every day. Whoever is out of bed last (me during the week and hubby on the weekends) is responsible for making the bed. I am not fanatical, or compulsive about how “neat” it is made up. But it takes about five seconds to pull up the top sheet, then the blankets, fluff the pillows, pull up the comforter, walk around to the other side of the bed and repeat.

I am very bad at making the bed. I try to do it, but I usually just get up when the kids get up and we start our day. I mean to go back in a make it but most always end up forgeting. So at night I just quick straighten everything up and then fall into bed.

We sleep on a thin mattress on the floor (a penitential act for us). If we’re having company, I’ll throw a comforter over it. Otherwise, it’s just a couple of pillows & blankets. I voted for almost never. 😃

I do not make the bed everyday. My wife, however, does. I fall into the category of those that say, “i’m just going to mess it up tonight.”

My wife says that it makes the whole house look neater, even though nobody ever sees our bedroom.

This is one of those area where we just agree to disagree.

Peace to all !!

I chose the “obligatory other”… I always never make the bed; my wife does. 😃 Bed-making is one area where I have been juged incompetent. :o

We don’t make it. I never did, and when we married, I noticed my husband didn’t either. If somebody is coming over to the house and will actually see our room, then yes; otherwise, why? I do change the sheets weekly.

He duly informed me one time, philosopher that he is, that from his material on the ancient Greeks, we have Pythagoras to blame or thank for bedmaking. It seems that Pyth (not only a mathematician famous for the Pythagorean Theorem everybody learned in junior high) came to a conclusion that people who did not tidy up the bed left their impression, and thus somehow trapped their souls to their beds. Pyth was also of a mind that the neatness set one in a better mood to go off and do stuff during the day.

Easy method, if you like a “made” bed, but don’t want all the work (I’m using this system now):
  1. Put only a fitted sheet on the bed; don’t bother with the flat sheet.
  2. Get a cover that looks decent and is easy to care for. I’m using a “printed quilt” (this is a quilted cover that looks like a pieced quilt, but has a top made from one piece of fabric – can go in the washer and dryer without falling apart).
All you have to do is arrange the cover, and you’re done. When it’s time to change the sheets, just throw the cover in the wash, along with the sheets.

The only time the bed doesn’t get made is if I’m sick…other than that it’s everyday. It just gives the room that nice orderly look and I like getting in it better at night when it’s been made.

I didn’t always make it when we were first married, but then I discovered it made me feel better when I did…

The concept of sleeping with a blanket against me makes my skin crawl. I need the top sheet.

I slept with just a blanket for years. In high school I started using the top sheet, but before that, I used this quilt that I still have, and dragged it around the house (basically a really big blankie) and just slept with that on me.

What is this thing you call “making the bed”? It sounds like some other meaningless chore meant to keep me away from the Forums! 😉

Had to vote almost never…if we’re having company I do, but I like climbing into a messy bed at night. If the top sheet is neatly tucked into the mattress, it’s just plain uncomfortable

Besides, there are just so many far more crucial things to do in the morning, like getting my daily Starbucks infusion. 😃
