There are several issues at hand.

Gun laws that don’t work–must be revamped, in the least or new and improved take their place.

US gov. arming the nations… when it is only the private sector most of this “arming” goes to heists bidder–regardless; when it is the gov. well there are issues all over the world where govs get involved to secure their own safety by controlling the chaos and destruction in other states.

It would be wonderful if people kept to themselves… but greed and stupidity always forces man to engage other people’s resources, lives, and lands.

Show me a nation that is not involved in scheming and I’ll show you an extinct people.

Jon, reread your posts–more than once you’ve attempted to make a point that “criminals” use guns in zero policy regions. That states as Indiana have no such restrictions.
Even through your own rhetoric, you should recognize the two different types of criminals. The first is the regular street criminal, gang member type. That’s the type we’ve been discussing regarding Chicago.
The other type that you are talking about here are the one-time mass shooter types, such as Paddock. This type always looks for a soft target, which is usually a “gun-free” zone. Schools, movie theatres, night clubs.
Yes, they are different. So, which do you want to talk about?
So unless you believe that ETs are arming criminals, those guns are getting from the point of great distribution to the point of no distribution.
As far as any evidence you’ve provided, which is zero, none, nothing, ET is as reasonable to believe as the "evil manufacturers and dealers ".
Provide some details. Which manufacturers and dealers did Gun Runner Eric and Loretta Lynch prosecute? Provide a link.
You cannot abandon your argument when it points to your error.
No error. Different group of criminals

not what i was answering.

but to play along

that is to be expected from some but others would be open to a meal before you move on. what is your point?

you seem to have little faith in mankind or do you just not like gun owners?

i didn’t notice above, do you own guns?

Jon, could you reason out this math: Indiana gun sales say “XYZ” per year, Indiana citizenry owner ship of guns “XYZ-xy missing guns” so no import of violence from Indiana?

kind of like drugs just outlaw them and the problem will go away

oh wait, that pesky black market source and of course the huge demand.

kind of like what happened in australia. they have more guns now then before the ban. how many guns were turned in on this recent amnesty? were they part of the 250,000 illegal ones they wanted or old relics? how many are smuggled in yearly? it’s an island with strong security not open borders, but it won’t happen here every crook will obey the no gun zone.

where are the stats? that was a high profile case show where it happens 99.9% of the time.

The OP seems to me to set up a false dichotomy.

It is not the case that one must choose between either the second amendment or gun control.

Rather, one can both support the second amendment and be pro common decency gun control.

They are not inimical to each other.

I support citizens being able to own a reasonable level of arms. A couple shotguns, handguns, and rifles per person.

Bump stocks and other devices that mimic automatic gun fire ought to be flat out banned unless the person has the permit to own an automatic weapon.

Nobody has a legitimate reason to purchase 30 heavy cal assault rifles in one year for a single person if they are not a gun dealer. In the case of assault rifles specifically, civilians should only be able to own maybe 3 of them at most.

I am a United States Military Veteran with an expert marksmanship award, and this is how I feel.

read up above somewhere, it is illegal to buy guns across state lines without an ffl and nics check.

unless you buy them from the black market or steal them.

which again is possible and what law will stop it? admit it you want all guns banned.

i can do the same thing with a rubber band: google it. when someone uses a rubber band as a bump mechanism will you want the rubber band outlawed as well?

what does it matter if he owns 30, how many can a person shoot at one time. maybe he is arming the nonexistent militia?

thank you for your service

Spyridon:

.

I support the law abiding citizens to be able to own no guns . . . If that what the law-abiding citizen wants.

The REAL question is, WHO gets to decide how many firearms are “reasonable”?

And I’ m saying the law abiding citizens gets to decide for himself (or herself).

.

Spyridon. What do you think Bloomberg would say if you told HIM: “Well I think it’sounds OK that you have two armed guards for YOURSELF when you have a public speaking engagement when you give talks attempting to subvert the Second Amendment.”

He’d laugh at you. Nobody would take you seriously.

Why?

Because you are talking to one of the influence brokers in the U.S. You are trying to limit one of the elitists rights.

How do you think people would react if you said: “Yes I’m OK with Steven Spielberg having a gun collection. But he can only own a couple of shotguns and a .22.”

It wouldn’t fly.

Why?

Because he is one of the elites.

How 'bout if you said: “Yeah. Senator Diane Feinstein can have an armed guard or two at this fund raising event. But the guards are only allowed magazines that hold 7 rounds. Because nobody needs more than seven rounds.”

It would never be taken seriously (nor should it).

Why? Because she is one of the elites.

WHY favor a proverbial caste system?

Why not include good, honest, hard-working, law-abiding citizens in your paradigm?

Or why not call for disarmament of the Government FIRST (I would oppose THAT too but you could still advocate for it).

Have you ever experienced a block out?

How many braves go out to help the elderly and the families with children?
I have. Three times. The infamous '77 blackout of New York City, and the more recent (and more peaceful) blackout of 2003, and the partial blackout of 2012 (that was Hurricane Sandy).

I did go out to help the elderly, families, and anyone else who needed help, during both blackouts. I could offer more help in 2003, just because I was only seventeen in 1977, but I did what I could. During the 2003 blackout, I ran a sort of taxi service, getting people home, or to elderly relatives’ homes. I could get through all the stuck traffic (the traffic lights were out, of course) on my motorcycle, and take one passenger on the pillion seat. The '77 blackout was rough. And I lived in a rough neighborhood back then. But my brothers and I went out and did what we could. I had no children during any of those incidents, and didn’t even have a wife for the first two, so I was free to do what I could.

I did the same during the partial blackout caused by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

A gun would not have helped me during any of those blackouts. Didn’t need one, didn’t occur to me that I needed one.

I do have fond memories of the 2012 blackout – after my taxi runs, and some knocking on doors in the 'hood to make sure some older people I knew were alright, I wandered down to the riverfront in my neighborhood. There were lots of people there, and I met some friends, and some strangers. We were all swapping beer and cigarettes and whatever we had. It was actually a pretty good time.
