I’ve found a particular interest in the Extraordinary Form of the Mass, and would like to know how you feel about it. If you like, feel free to post why you voted this particular way.

It’s not my intention to have competition, I’d just like to see how people feel. I quite agree with your remarks!I appreciate both the EF and NO (Novus Ordo).
I think “either/or” is a moot issue and that we’ll continue to see a smattering of Catholics prefering the EF, with most Catholics prefering the NO.
I like that the NO has an Old Testament reading during the Liturgy of the Word, and that it uses a three-year liturgical cycle.
I like that the EF has the second Gospel and other prayers after the Dismissal.
There are things I like about both forms, but I prefer attending the NO, most of the time.
I love the Mass – its different forms enrich the Church, and there shouldn’t be any “competition” or debates as to which might be “better.”
I am well aware of this, but thanks. You are asking a narrow group of Catholics here in the Traditional Section. In fact, you are asking a narrow group of Catholics here on CAF, Most Catholics have either never heard of CAF, or would not join an online group.
A poll of a narrow group is not very accurate.
I would encourage you to attend parishes that offer the OF, and then get to know many of those Catholics and ask them this same question in person. I’m fairly certain that you will hear quite a different answer about the EF from these real-life Christians than what you hear on CAF.
In our city, there is an EF Mass (daily and weekly), and about 400 Catholics attend. They are enthusiastic about the EF Mass, but the friends that I have in that parish do not disparage the OF Mass in any way. The vast majority of Catholics in our city, many thousand, attend parishes with OF Masses.
I’m sorry you’ve had those experiences, but you need to recognize that this is NOT “par for the course” at all parishes that offer the Ordinary Form. In fact, after attending the Ordinary Form exclusively (no EF available to me except SSPX), in several different parishes, for almost 30 years, I have never seen most of the things you mention.Thats right, the Novus Ordo. And you know what else? That is not unusual, but rather ‘par for the course’, in my experience of the Novus Ordo.
And this is exactly why I wasnt the EF back as the norm.

Well that would be a start, for sure!I voted for both to be available.
Indeed. I find it tiresome when the question of whether one prefers the EF or NO becomes the shibboleth for how good of a Catholic a particular person is.The Church allows both and that is what we should accept.
Whether an individual prefers the EF or NO is a personal choice and they should not try to imply that anyone choosing the form they don’t like is wrong.
Nobody is questionning whether or not the Church allows bothThe Church allows both and that is what we should accept.

I’ve never seen anybody online or in person make a judgement about how good of a Catholic someone is depending on which Mass they attend. In fact more often than not traditionalists I know seem to go out of their way to point out that even the NO can sanctify.Indeed.
