The doctors dissect the numbers pretty well. Apparently 0.01% chance if dying if you are healthy.

One point made is that we are indeed expected to see a spike. Because our immune system has been weaken by shut down/ isolation, you lose flora. New human contact will cause a spike.

There is a lot of folk wisdom in this theory.
I am hoping that I actually had COVID-19 before the surge–I took five days off work in early March to prepare a presentation for a conference (music)–and I ended up being sick for three days with a high fever (102), shivering, and body aches that kept me on the sofa in a sleep! Had two days left to finish my music!
My husband caught it from me and spent two days with the same symptoms and lying on the sofa.
Neither of us had any respiratory or stomach symptoms–just fever and aches–and from what I understand, COVID-19 presents with varying symptoms, but high fever is the main symptom.
So I am very interested in getting the antibody testing when it becomes widely available.

We will see a spike because the full horror of the epidemic was postponed.
When people come in contact this most virulent bug will spread again immediately as it did before. Just the same way it had.

I have had people in my family who have been sick too and not tested. I hope these antibody tests hit the market also. Doctors are telling us to expect a spike in cases so I don’t think we should panic if rates of illness go up…

My cousin had all the symptoms, a negative flu test, and was negative for everything on the respiratory panel. He couldn’t get tested because he’s not a priority group and his doctor only had a few tests. He’s doing a lot better. His doctor wants him to get an antibody test when it becomes available.

Family members were not allowed to get them even though many tests were being done. The understanding was that the tests were for older people and those with conditions.
It is important to look for an antibody test authorized by the FDA. There are going to be lots of tests out there because FDA has opened it up. The internet may be a good source as people post about their antibodies tests. Saw this

Pregnant mothers are contracting serious forms of this disease, often needing premature deliveries. Preemies are usually immuno-compromised.
Teachers have families. Some of the most beloved teachers in my son’s grammar school are in their sixties.
Kids are resilient. They will be able to make up the work. Losing multiple grandparents, possibly losing parents and siblings is a much harder recovery.
I’m quite concerned about what would happen to my own children if both my husband and I catch it. We’re both in our early 50’s. My husband is a cancer survivor. My oldest son is asthmatic.

You should be concerned for your husband and son. Schools in our area are being left out of the equation until next year to see how this goes. There is only about a month of school left anyhow.
My understanding is that people who feel they are at risk need to go to their boss. Many are already working from home.

For far too long, we have had the notion that little kids need to start right out using hand sanitizers and be exposed to as few germs as possible. This is a mistake. Their immune systems need to be exposed in order to develop strength.Maximus1:

Young immune systems need to be given some work to do. But, because exposure is kept to an absolute minimum almost from the day they are born, their bodies aren’t given much of a chance to build up immunity against much of anything.
The old adage applies here: “Use it, or lose it.”
