Most Americans have no interest in ruling the world, but the global (((elite))) obviously do want to use the USA to rule the world.

Salutations
I was talking about more recent history. We wouldn’t have been there if 1-Sadaam hadn’t invaded Kuwait. THEY ASKED US TO COME.
2-AlQueda visited us on 9/11. Yes, that was Afgh. first. Iraq was iffy. I kept hearing 41 saying to 43, “finish the job we started.”
Yes, we have gotten involved in some things that backfired. Iran takes us hostage. Iraq & Iran have wars. We back Sadaam (good move!)
Then, OLLIE NORTH &The Iran contra deals.
We are not Saints. But, we went in last w WW I & WWII.
The Native Americans—somewhere along the way, initial friendships deteriorated and we turned into monsters. God will deal w us in our areas of sins.
We do rebuild after the wars. Hopefully, all the rich MidEast Nations can pick up this tab???
God bless the beasts and the children.

You miss the fact that an invasion of Japan was planned. The atomic bombs had a small blast radius. A pamphlet was issued to Japanese civilians, including kids, on the best way to kill Americans with relatively simple weapons. The turning point was the Russian invasion of Japan. The day they came in, the first bomb was dropped. Coincidence? No. The Americans did not want the Russians to take Japan. The Japanese did not want the Russians to take Japan. Just like most German soldiers did everything they could to surrender to the Americans instead of the Russians.

In what universe were the Japanese ‘winning’ at the point nuclear bombs were used? Their forces had been decimated, their navy was in tatters. At the same time the US and Britain amongst others were attacking them Soviet Forces were steamrolling through Manchuria. Not exactly a convincing image of ‘winning’ by the Japanese Empire present. Had you invade the Home Islands the cost would have been bloody which is one reason often cited in support of dropping the bombs but the Japanese were in no way ‘winning’ by this point in WW2.
To say we never started a war is not right. There are the Indian wars. The start Mexican-American War and the Spanish-American War were certainly as much the USA’s fault as the Mexicans or Americans respectively. There was the Phillipine Insurrection was pretty much our doing. The second Iraq war we started.

Although they did not develop into outright wars, the occupation of Vera Cruz in 1914. The occupation of Nicaragua in 1912 was the same.

Some of these you may argue were just, but that’s doesn’t mean we didn’t start them.

It appears American has been doing just that since 1945. 😎

When you say America, you mean the people who are in Washington, correct?? I don’t believe the average American has any interest in running the world. The only interest should be helping people in need, no matter where they live on this earth… but that seems like an impossibility at times, especially the way we treat one another. We have good leaders as well as bad ones in different parts of the world. I love America, it is where I was born as well as my children.I don’t always agree with some decisions being made, but that’s alright I have freedom of speech…I pray that Jesus hears all the prayers from all around the world and opens His Merciful Heart to all of us. God bless you.

That is incorrect. German intelligence spotted the massive build-up of Soviet military equipment by the border. The US had to intervene in the Berlin Crisis. The Soviets were cruel. Ask any Ukrainian about the Holodomor or any Pole about the Katyn Forest massacre (among others). Winston Churchill drew up a plan called Operation Unthinkable since he, like General Patton, was concerned the Soviets would move West. It would involve reactivating most of the German Amy and Waffen SS. I have a book by Polish General Anders and his capture by the Soviets. An Iron Curtain fell over Russia. The head of German Intelligence East surrendered to the Americans with part of his staff and documents. He was indispensable.

The American people, no. Our government and the “special interests” that control it, well that’s another story.

IWANTGOD!
Good name. Truly, I do.
Pres. EISENHOWER, stated to watch the MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX. Yes, we have Joints Chiefs of staffs and connections. Yes, there was a support for oil countries. But, unless we are attacked, we weren’t going to start conflicts.
My Irish husband is a Historian. He said, actually, Japan was hurting. But, he said, they estimated a human loss of American lives of 2.5 million more to win w/o the bombs. The Japs took a vow to protect the emperor and fight to the death. Women and children. The ideology would fight on and our cost would be too high for USA in lives.
The Russians were occupying their Island for which Japan and Russia fought in the Russo-Japanese war. The Russians were taking their Island back.
The bombs did make a statement! But, TRUMAN wasn’t looking happy, signing the order to use it. (War films).
Some things, we only surmise. God knows the facts. Our past sins, Native American abuse, were not continued in future behaviors. Military & Civilians die in war. But, at the end of bombs and bullets. Not small pox contaminated blankets.
War is not a perfect action. Some devious act can sneak in by a General flying solo.
There is the fog of war. There are manipulations for secretive situations. I.e. COVENTRY was sacrificed after the UK broke the code of the enigma machine.
Pearl Harbor ??? The aircraft carriers were moved out before the attack !? IDK? It’s too complicated to figure stuff out. We were into Isolationism, again. Was Pearl Harbor sacrificed
to get us behind he war.?!
USA has a honorable history as a standard.

Please excuse the ultra-nationalist American exceptionalism nonsense that is being hurled at you in this thread. it is quite embarrassing to some of us, who appreciate people from countries all around the world and all walks of life and would rather not be some gigantic global military-corporate neo-empire. (and certainly not defend many of America’s policies that were clearly wrong, both past and present).

sincerely,

An American

Actually, the Soviet invasion of Nazi Germany in 1945 was quite nasty. Mass gang rapes (we are talking a truly horrific amount of raping and pillaging here), murders. Not that the Nazis did not use extreme brutality in the USSR and Poland and much of Eastern Europe also. There is evidence that extra-judicial acts of vengeance were encouraged from high levels of Soviet Authorities, which is hardly a shocker. Not to mention, that roughly about the same percentage of German soldiers taken prisoners by the Soviets died in captivity as the number of Soviets taken prisoner by Germany (around 70% for both)

And the Soviet Union did enable Germany to start WWII in 1939 by signing the Nazi-Soviet, Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact which had secret clauses dividing Eastern Europe between the two predatory giants. The Soviets were one of Germany’s largest suppliers of raw materials until the actual day the Nazis and their Axis allies launched their invasion of the USSR in June 1941.

Some would argue that we waited too long in both cases and more lives were lost than should have been had we entered earlier and ended things more quickly.

America is having considerable difficulty governing itself. We certainly dont need to be spreading our disfunction even more than we already are.

As a superpower and neo empire, the US developed quite a bit of hubris in the decades after WWII. Even Vietnam didnt end it. I think now though, after the debacle in Iraq and having made very rash policy mistakes before and since, many Americans are more aware of our shortcomings and want to step back and use our power more sparingly.

‘Tis is true. We should have gone sooner. Christian genocide in Iraq=the world should have gone in sooner.

Anyone that has tried to rule the world has failed and at the cost of many lives.
