I’m not sure about that, Joe. I lived the entire “the Russians are going to drop nuclear bombs on our heads” period. And you know what, because more people lived according to Christian principles, we didn’t lose a second of sleep over it. We had a ton of fun! I knew those were B-52 bombers flying overhead every day but we lived our faith daily.
No, it was not perfect. Yes, there were problems, but for the most part - today is worse.
Tough times ahead? No. Any reading of the business press will tell you that. Profit-sharing checks are going out to workers at Chrysler, and Ford and GM plan to do the same.
I think people are making it harder on themselves, Joe. WE (me included) cannot sit on the couch. There’s a new evangelization that needs to take place. I don’t mean we should stop people on the street and quote a chapter of Scripture, but we need to go out into the highways and byways as individuals and groups and meet people where they are, and say something or give them a tract.
The media won’t do it. We need to. Even if it’s just one day a week.
Peace,
Ed
