Does anyone here go to a Traditional Mass that is not Sedevecantist, not indult and is in union with Rome?

I prefer the Extraordinary Form and try to go to it exclusively, but sometimes I can’t because of work schedules. I am getting to know Latin.

I have been to Ordinary Form Masses that were really reverent, with the traditional altar, and with the “priest’s back” toward the people. The way Vatican II actually wanted.

St. Annes in San Diego is a fully traditional parish which celebrates five Extraordinary Form Masses plus Vespers on Sundays and two Extraordinary Form Masses daily throughout the week. It is staffed by the FSSP.

For many years the faithful in San Diego attended the Extraordinary Form weekly at the Holy Cross cemetary mauseleum Chapel, which was, actually an interseting place for Mass to be celebrated.👍 The Masses got so crowded that the faithful spilled out into the actual burial areas and crypts, Every Sunday, a Rosary was prayed asking the Blessed Virgin for her intercession and help in finding a permanent Church… These Masses were celebrated at first by a Diocesan Priest who was selected because he knew how to celebrate it. He stated that he had no devotion to the Traditional Mass and celebrated it out of obedience. But, he did say that exposure to the older form, caused him to more reverently celebrate the Ordinary Form. When he fully retired, Norbertine Priests from the Abbey at Silver Lake California took over. Saint Annes is now rum by the FSSP.

It worked, and we ar truly blessed. I also want to thank His Excellency the Most Reverend Bishop Robert Brom, who has given his full support over the years and has gone as far as celebrating several Extraordinary Form Masses for what used to be the Latin Mass Society and is now the congregation of Saint Annes… I have included a link.

Never lose faith. We never did.👍

wow. Amazing. No you cannot always “move” - and what’s more I DID move and other things as well, just to find the mass. I visited Phoenix for a week (CMRI and SSPX) and South Dakota, and San Diego, and considered living in -God Help Us - Chicago or Los Angeles just tp be near a mass. The house I live in now cost twice as much in Orlando, and more than twice as much in Los Angeles. When the “crash” happened in 2008 I lost much and Had to take back a job that would have me, here in FL, I have a job here and I have to keep it- I’m no spring chicken and not a cat wtih 9 lives and I am runnoing out of “start overs”. I’m not the free bird I once was. The only place I have not “moved” to or checked out ws St Mary’s KS. But I did check out Kansas City.

I have personally seen at least five families move exactly to be closer to the TLM and holy priests. It really does bring peace to your life.

I feel for you and your situation. If you ever do move again you could look to Wisconsin. We have plently of diocese parishes that offer the TLM and you can pick your favorite order as well (ICRSS, FSSP, SSPX, etc.). Otherwise just pray that it is offered in your area. Make requests of your parish priest. Only those who take the initive will have things happen.

In Seattle we have a parish called North American Martyrs, which is devoted strictly to the Tridentine Rite. It’s in union with Rome, and started out as an Una Voce group… I believe it’s been around for about 20 years, but was only recently given the status of a parish by the Archbishop of Seattle a few years ago. I used to go there regularly, until I left the Catholic Church. I believe all their sacraments are administered in the extraordinary form, but I may be wrong… I was Confirmed in a parish that used the ordinary form and didn’t start attending the Tridentine Mass until I was older.
The North American Martyrs Parish is an FSSP parish in Seattle, and only the EF Mass is celebrated every day. Twice on Sundays with the later Mass being a Solemn High Mass with Gregorian Chant and Renaissance polyphony (Yay Palestrina!). :highprayer: I think there’s about 300-500 in attendance at the Solemn High Mass.

We also have special masses on First Fridays and First Saturdays.

The parish shares a building with an OF parish, and they have had a good deal of cooperation on that arrangement. We are truly blessed in Seattle!

Our Bishop has stated in the diocesan paper that the SSPX are not Catholic and we can not attend./

Then your Bishop contradicts what Rome has officially stated. Rome has stated the SSPX ARE Catholic. They are disobediant, but still Catholic. You are fine with disregarding Rome then? That is the same mindset that the SSPX has. Amazing how that works isn’t it.
.

While Rome has said that the SSPX remain Catholic, they are not in obedience to the Pope. I have asked several priests, some from religious orders and some secular priests, about attending a Tridentine Mass said by the SSPX. All of their responses were identical: Catholics may not attend those Masses nor receive sacraments there until the SSPX regularizes its ties with Rome. And I think that Rome has made many strenuous efforts at attempting to reconcile with the group.

My understanding is that, at this time, the priests of the SSPX are validly ordained. Therefore, all their sacraments are valid, including the Eucharist. This may be what is meant by saying that they are still Catholic. However, they are sedevacantist and not in communion with Rome. To attend one of their masses would imply approval of and support for their positions, and therefore is unacceptable for a faithful Roman Catholic. Even if you don’t approve of their positions, attending exposes your faith to inimical influences and is wrong.

Pope Benedict XVI has done everything possible to effect a reconciliation with the SSPX. He has been extraordinarily patient and generous. Unfortunately, disobedience becomes a habit. Not only do they continue to find excuses not to reconcile, apparently they are now facing their own schism. They are reaping what they have sown.

True.

Not true, their Confessions are not valid. Marriages aren’t either.

Valid, but illicit.

The official SSPX position is not sedevacantist.
👍 Perfect response.

It made me think. What about the other sacraments? I assume baptism is valid what about confirmation? when do they confirm in the EF? Last Rites? Ordination is valid.

Is it really just confession and marriage?

Thank you sir! 🙂

Here’s my take on the “SSPX Sacraments”:

Baptism: This is both valid and licit.
Marriage: Invalid in the eyes of the Church, but valid civilly (so for this discussion, we’ll go with invalid).
Confessions: Unless you’re dying, invalid.
Eucharist: Valid, but illicit.
Holy Orders: Valid, but illicit, and priests are auto-suspended. If they consecrate more Bishops, that’d be valid but incurring auto-excommunication.

Confirmation: If a Bishop or Priest needs faculties to perform this, then I’d lean towards invalid.

Last Rites: This is very, very dicey. If someone is about to die, then I’m assuming if the form, matter, and intent are there the need for faculties is waived and this is valid. If they aren’t on death’s door, I believe this is invalid due to the need for faculties.
