Okay, now that my initial shock has subsided, please tell me why you believe the Pope is the AntiChrist?

Is there any historical or Biblical evidence or any quotes from the Early Church Christians to back up your belief that the Pope is the AntiChrist?

If you were shown evidence, including historical, Biblical and quotes from the Early Church Christians which clearly proves that the Pope is NOT the AntiChrist, would you be will to study it with an open mind?

Is there anything that could change your mind on your belief?

(Please no bashing anyone on this forum. I would like to see an honest exchange of reasons for belief.)

Okay. That is interesting that you believe that. The merging of Islam with the Catholic Church on the basis of a false apparition is one I’ve not heard before.

Please share the reasons why you believe it? Seems like pretty specific beliefs. On what basis have you come to believe this?

I read a six book series about unusual prophecies by Perry Stone. he is a pentecostal who does a lot of word studies and is very knowledgeable in prophetic times.

I like him because he is respectful of our Eucharist and does not brand catholics as pagans eating cookie gods. He is a pre-tribulation rapture Christian who says that many catholics will be taken up.

To make a long story short…

Islam has prophecies that mirror the end-times in our Scripture( isiah, daniel, revalation). Their messiah (the mahdi) comes on a white horse, who is our anti-christ who is the rider of the first of the 4 horsemen .

Mary is venerated both by islam and the catholic church. Now this “church” is void of any true men of God. All they want is power. It is an centuries old well established governing institution. How could islam and these "false men’ merge? First the “pope” they elect is the long prophecied "false pope’. Now, suppose Satan uses the verneration of mary by giving a false apparation of her. This will be used by the vatican ( and the seeds of this have been deeply buried) and the mahdi(anti-christ). The world’s population is millions and milllions of muslims and the rest, for the most part, are secular unbelievers or those luke warmers,or other non-christians. ( torah jews are a whole other story, being protected by God).

This false mary speaks a false message that binds anti-christ and the false prophet to form this one world religion, one world government, one world money system. Join or die by beheading. The apparations could be in fatima, or, could be in jerusalem near the Dome of the Rock.

As i catholic, I am not fearful or ashamed. Why should i be? The christians in my church hold no responsiblity for the future acts of evil men. Prophecy will be fullfilled as it must so that Our Lord can return.

The key here is this is a false pope who fulfills the prophecy of the false phropeht, who will be given certain powers by anti-christ( the indwelled of ) satan to perform miracles.

There are two beasts in end times prophecy. The first is anti-christ, the second is the false prophet.

I do not believe they will succeed…

God could crush Satan in an instant…we need to be vigilant though and give God a reason to not let Satan win…faith, hope and love…

Interesting…This is a totally new one to me,though i have been told by a pentacostal at one time that the pope is the anti-christ…Is the above what a pentacostal means when they say the pope is the anti-christ?

God would never let satan win on a world-wide basis absolutely; it is contrary to the Will of God. Satan can and does win on personal levels, yes. But in a world-wide sense? No, then who would stand a chance at being saved? God wants to test us in this life to see if we are worthy of seeing His Face. If satan ruled absolutely, satan would kill us in the moments after we commit a mortal sin, since this is the textbook example of how to get to Hell - be in a state of mortal sin while not being repentant about it. And satan wants us all in Hell. So, yes, to a certain degree satan is subject to the Will of God.

As far as an anti-pope, again, God would never let it happen. The Holy Spirit has spoken in the creation of the dogma of the Pope’s Infallibility. If there were some Pope who were about to proclaim a heresy under a circumstance where otherwise we would have to believe it to be infallible, God, in His Infinite Knowledge, would foresee this and strike the Pope dead. No, i am not inferring Pope John Paul I was any sort of heretic.

If there is anyone who is believing the Pope is the anti-Christ, then it is that person who is labelling the Pope the anti-Christ that is misguided in that belief.

Popes have always been infallible - that hasn’t prevented the rise (at times) of anti-Popes as well. Currently there are at least two men who I am aware of (apart from Benedict) claiming to be Pope. That is what anti-Pope means, someone who is not the true Pope but claims to be so.

I think JP2 was quite possibly an antichrist. His activities as Pope are the reason. OTOH, it’s not hard to imagine that a Pope could be far worse even than JP2.​

Where do you come off saying JP2 is the worst pope, have you not seen all that he has done to bring down communism, or how he has spurred on the youth to take up their crosses (he’s the one who taught of creating World Youth Day), or how ecumenical he was in reaching out to others, or how he wrote wonderful encyclicals on human sexuality . . . etc. Man I’m starting to think you are possibly the most self-loathing Catholic I’ve come across. This has no connection to revelation whatsoever, and furthermore where does it say there will be a “false” pope? And we already have had false apparition declared by the Church no less. I’ve always believed that because Islam venerates Mary she will be key in bringing them to Jesus (especially at Fatima where apparently mainly Muslims go). This Perry Stone guy is probably whether you realize this or not anti-Catholic if you’ve managed to come out thinking as you do. I can’t believe anyone would read this stuff, and pre-tribulation rapture by the way is bogus, completely nonexistent scripturally.

5: God Will Crush Satan Under the Feet of the Church of Rome.

There is one more very significant passage in Romans which points to the unique authority and status possessed by the Roman Church. It reads: “then the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet” (16:20a). There is a significance here which no other local church mentioned in the NT is accorded. God will crush Satan under the feet of the Church of Rome. God is revealing here a unique role and authority held by the Roman Church. To no other local church is this privilege or role given.

In the Bible, to be under someone’s feet is to be under their authority and power. It is to be in subjection to someone (see Psa.18:38, 47:3; 1 Cor.15:27; Eph. 1:22; Heb.2:8). To be under some one’s footstool is also to be subjected to that person’s authority (See Psa. 99:5; 132:7; Is.66:1; Mt.5:35, 22:44; Acts 2:35, 7:49; Heb. 1:13, 10:13). In every one of these instances God the Father or Jesus Christ is the one to whom all, including God’s enemies, are subject.

But there is one exception.

In Psalm 47:3 we are told that God will put all the nations under the feet of Israel. This reveals that Israel was especially privileged and preeminent as God’s chosen people with whom he made a covenant. Yet, why is this unique privilege now mentioned only to the Church of Rome? To no other Church is this status given. It can only mean that God is revealing to all who would read it that the Roman Church has the pre-eminent position of representing the New Covenant people of God; AND that it has been given a special privilege of representing on earth the authority of God. There is another important point:

Now, all things are to be in subjection under the feet of Christ who is the head of the Church, his body (Eph.1:22). This includes Satan, who is surely Christ’s enemy (1 Cor. 15:25). Yet, we are told in Romans 16:20 that God will crush Satan under the feet of the Church of Rome. So here we see that Jesus Christ and the Church of Rome are given the very same authority over the devil. This MUST mean that the Church of Rome is: 1) Christ’s representative on earth, and, 2) where the body of Christ, that is, the one universal (i.e. catholic) Church of Christ, is represented on earth. This must be, otherwise, the Roman Church would not have the status and role revealed here in chapter 16, verse twenty.

We see a number of things being revealed in this one letter: Both “Roman” and the concept “Catholic” are associated together and the Church of Rome is given special respect, a pre-eminent status, and even a unique role and authority. God’s inspired written Word teaches that it is only the Church of Rome whose faith is proclaimed throughout the whole world (1:8); who is full of goodness and filled with all knowledge (15:14); whose obedience is known to all Christians (16:19); who, because of it’s pre-eminent status, is accordingly saluted by all the local churches of Christ worldwide (16:16); and under who’s feet God will crush Satan (16:20).

Only the one Church founded by Jesus Christ has all these attributes, and it is revealed in the Bible that it is the Church of Rome which possesses them.

Christ’s Church must proclaim that it in fact has this authority and role, and only the RCC makes these claims. Since it is only her faith which is “proclaimed throughout the world,” the faith of the Church of Rome is that “faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jd.3). Since the Church of Jesus Christ can never pass away we must conclude, then, that the RCC is not an invention of man, but is the very Church established by Christ. There is more…

To Doxiemom - I feel strongly compelled to support Josie L’s post. Be very wary of those that come up with weird and wonderful end times scenarios. There are many such “theories” drifting around about the antichrist, end times etc.
Yes, when carefully handled, it can be interesting to discuss these things and even suggest your own interpretation of what/who the antichrist might be. But that is all it is - an interpretation. Don’t allow personal interpretation to deflect from that which IS TRUTH.

The Catholic Church, who’s authority is directly guided by the Holy Spirit, does itself not have answers for these things. How much less then would individual theorists who propose imaginative and creative scenarios have real answers? They don’t!

Live with faith, hope and love… and obedience to the teachings of the Holy Catholic Church as guided by the Holy Spirit itself. If what you hear, see or read is not from the one true Church founded directly by God through His Son, Jesus Christ, then it is not from God and hence should be treated with caution.
