Does anyone here, that believes in God, actually think that God accepts gay marriage?

God created man and woman in such a way so that they may become one. It is written that a man will leave his home and parents and take a woman as his wife. Nowhere have I seen it written that a man shall take another man, or a woman shall take another woman as their wife. Don’t confuse love with sex. Homosexuality by it’s own definition is based on sex. How can you love someone if by having sex with them you perform acts contrary to how God created humans? As far as me starting this thread just to start an argument, isn’t that what debate is? By the way, some of the most loving people in history didn’t have sex at all, Jesus among them.

I most certainly believe in God and I do not presume to guess at what he does or does not accept when it comes to marriage. I do know that he left us ten commandants and a golden rule to treat others as we would like to be treated. I know that there are seven deadly sins but I do not think any of them pertain to the love of one person for another. I would leave God’s judgement to God and try to be as understanding as I can of those who would like to burden other people with their personal intolerance’s. No one is trying to make you marry someone you do not love. If you do not accept same gender marriage do not marry someone of the same gender. It really is none of your business.
This is perfect.

I think it is presumptuous to believe we know the mind of God. As biblical scholarship becomes more and more reliable and advanced. it casts a lot of doubt on the meaning of some of the translations we have used to base Church doctrine on. In the New Testament, the word in Greek that is often translated as “homosexuality” was actually not a contemporary word used to describe that. If Paul was writing to a contemporary audience, it would make sense that he use well established words to refer to homosexual acts rather than use one of ambiguous meaning. A number of modern scholars believe the original word “arsenokoites” was probably a reference to shrine prostitution or the ritualistic use of sex for worship, something which was not uncommon in Corinth in those days.

The Church is a living things and we can only hope that she will grow in Her perfection and unity with God. As we become more enlightened, it is important to remember that we are imperfect humans with limited understanding. God made us Man and Woman because that is the natural order of life. That, however, does not mean that anything outside of that is a sin. We must always remember to be kind to others and leave the judgement up to God. Jesus never spoke directly on the subject so it’s probably best to avoid casting stones at others.

Any pro homosexual interpretation of these texts is a modern aberration found only in Western Europe and America in an attempt to sway public opinion to not just tolerate such behavior, but promote full social acceptance of it.
What a coincidence that it is in Western Europe and America that such enlightened, modern interpretations thrive. Let’s look at the women priests idea for example. Same thing as gay marriage. Twisting the Bible and the teachings of the church to suit secular ideologies of our time.

I’m also not sure what to think when Catholics say that we can’t know what God thinks. We certainly can’t know everything, but He has let us know for certain about a number of things. Human sexuality being one of them. It would be interesting to hear how such Catholics decide which church teaching they believe to be true and from God (if any), and which are not. Perhaps their government helps them decide 😃

If so, then why did He waste time creating us male and female.
No, because I’m Catholic. 😛

But TBH it’s hard for me to imagine an Almighty being that worries about stuff like that. Just sayin.

God created things a certain way. It’s foolish to do things that are contrary to the way God created them and then to believe that you’re doing His will.

Gay “marriage” is a sin. End of story. You can’t just say, “It isn’t any of my business.” No, it’s a sin. Get over it.

That in no way contradicts the fact that God loves everybody.

You don’t have to imagine it at all, it’s written down in the Bible, black-and-white. Also, you know, thousands of years of history, logic, reason and theology tell us that homosexual acts and “gay marriage” are inherently sinful and disordered.

Who’s having to imagine any of it? 👍

Wasn’t it Cleopatra who was queen of “Denile?”😃

;)👍

(I’m noticing that many of the posts on this thread are good illustrations about my point that our society does not distinguish well between loving a person and accepting everything that a person does.)

There really isn’t such a thing as Gay marriage because the Catholic Church does not authorize it. The only marriage recognized is one performed in union with God and performed by an ordained priest who carries the authority to bestow God’s Graces on the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony. Gay marriage is a false marriage created by man and his wordly laws. Homosexual acts are not only a sin, but a grave sin that separates the soul from God. Without repentance and reconciliation, we are taught that any soul who participates in this deadly sin will be cast into the pit. This teaching comes from the Church in which Jesus Christ founded to administer the Truth. The Truth doesn’t change with times

I don’t think you’re alone. Polls show that over 50 percent of Catholics support gay marriage, though of course I’m sure that’s just anyone who identifies as Catholic, whether they regularly attend Mass or not. My husband is a Catholic convert and he supports gay marriage. I’m personally neutral on the issue from a civil sense but I don’t think churches should ever be forced to do it.
But of course, if churches are not required to marry same sex couples, then it’s not really marriage equality, is it?

And it’s not really marriage equality if only two gays or two heterosexuals are allowed to marry. What about those who prefer several partners of mixed genders? Shall they not have marriage equality? Of course, fringe groups like NAMBLA are already thinking along the lines of lowering age of consent so as to allow for pederast marriage equality.

I’m repeating myself from another thread, but I might as well say it again. Marriage is a natural institution and has been since the dawn of civilization. It is a natural institution because man and woman are complementary to each other—biologically, anatomically, psychologically. Together they are capable of forming a marital union which has the potential of creating new life and creating new families, which have always been the underlying foundation of any society. Man and woman’s marital relationship makes possible the bearing of children, the formation of families, and the continuance of civilization.

It is because every society has recognized this fact as natural and obvious, and because they have valued the continued existence of their tribe or their nation or their civilization, that marriage has been endowed with state recognition.

And it is because of the lack of marital complementarity and lack of procreative potential that states have never recognized same sex relationships as marriage. They might have accepted same sex relations with equanimity, but they didn’t endow them with marital status, because they weren’t marital and conferred no benefit to the state.

No relationship other than between man and woman can ever be marital. A same sex relationship can never be marital, it can never be conjugal. It lacks the basic requirement of sexual complementarity.

The state can call it anything it wishes, but it is not marriage.

"He said in reply, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate.”

You can imagine an Almighty being who became a human being in order to save humans from their various sins. I wouldn’t underestimate the kind of interest a God like that would take in the lives of human beings. After all, he did bother to say, “Go, and sin no more” and “It’s better to enter eternal life with only one hand than to go into the unquenchable fires of hell with two hands.” I don’t think I’d use the word “worry”, but it sounds as if he cared about these things to me.
