He speaks from a moral and truthful base
Moral?

What has he eve said, publicly, that could be describe as speaking from a moral base?

I used to listen to him quite a bit in the early 90s, and don’t recall anything I’d describe as moral.

It was all pompous buffoonery and glorification of greed and power.

He’s one of the most immoral public figures in America (I mean in his teachings, not his personal life, about which I am not commenting).

I concluded that you must support the kind of overweening, intrusive, and death dealing regulations, mandates, and restrictions that characterize Obamacare; a debacle that seems to have created a nothing but a snowball of negative effects on America and Americans.
Thank you for admitting you made it up. Though in the process, you made up another story:
Given your vigorous defense of Obamacare
What I did say was:
I don’t defend ObamaCare. It could have a million fatal flaws but all I’m saying is that it addresses the problem of people suffering financial ruin due to health care costs. That’s the single undisputed aspect of ObamaCare.

Thank you for admitting you made it up. Though in the process, you made up another story:

What I did say was:
Your statement regarding Obamacare is neither factual nor “undisputed” as you claim. So far billions have been spent and this law that you defend has provided no healthcare to anyone. It has not saved anyone from financial ruin.

No one is for people going bankrupt due to medical bills. But to upend an entire system where over 80% of Americans were happy with their healthcare situation, to supposedly help a comparative few who were unable to get insurance is undefensible. There were and are many ways to deal with outliers. Many states have risk pools and most with pre-existing conditions get their insurance through their employer…just like almost everyone else.

Basically you seem to support an answer that was in search of a problem. In reality Obamacare was a power grab based on lies and rammed through with partisan tricks, backroom deals and favor trading. Anyone who supports this nightmare needs to get an education on the providing and financing of healthcare. The expense of the broken website could have been spent on medical care.

How do you defend this mess? Only someone who thinks top down, government strangulation and confiscation believes this sledghammer was needed to kill a gnat.

There are many preferable approaches to healthcare problems and financial issues. None of them were solved by Obamacare.

Hello, my old friend. I see you finally dropped all pretense of objectivity. But I guess that’s a good thing.

Why is it that you lefties fear and hate Rush Limbaugh so much? Just the mention of him often is like holding up a crucifix to vampires. Is it because he not only is a manly example of Christian Conservatism, but also greatly admires true Catholicism, as opposed to the heretical Catholicism (Americanism) that ruined Europe?

American Conservatism and true Catholicism go hand in hand, you know. They feed off one another. That’s what’s called American exceptionalism; the thing you once told me you don’t believe in.

As to Limbaugh’s morality, you prove my point; he would never slime you the way you just slimed him.

I have missed our one-sided debates; you lefties are so easy. Merry Christmas, Edwin (seriously).

The air’s gone out of his tire for some time now. I find the whole thing repetitive and pointless.

Anyone think there’s a point to the show?
I remember Rush when Clinton was in office, man was he good. Those were the days. You can say what you want about him, but he can put a show together. He can articulate himself well.

I was a bit upset that he said what he did about the Pope; however, I assume he said what he did because he is riding the wave like everyone else. Going where you get the most publication. Saying something against Time’s most important man of the year will certainly do that.

For all he is and has been, I still enjoy listening to him but just don’t do it very often any more unless I am driving at the time.

I for one, wish him well.

As far as seriously… I don’t take any of them seriously, they only serve themselves and their radio/tv station.

the heretical Catholicism (Americanism) that ruined Europe?
How did Americanism ruin Europe?

For that matter, how is it related to Catholicism?

When I heard him say that some of what the pope said was pure Marxism, I was shocked–until I read the English mistranslation by the Vatican press office for myself.

Some good folks on another thread (Ender and Brendan) then provided evidence indicating that it was almost certainly a mistranslation from the pope’s Spanish original. Remember, too, that all Rush had to go on at the time was the reporting of Reuters and the Washington Post. Enough said.

Ever since then, Rush has made clear his great respect for the pope. He has been having more fun with this than he has had in a long time because the anti-Catholic media types are running around with their hair on fire about bad old Rush and the poor pope-- hypocrisy on steroids!

AMERICANISM
The movement propagated in the United States in the late nineteenth century which claimed that the Catholic Church should adjust its doctrines, especially in morality, to the culture of the people. Emphasizing the “active” virtues of social welfare and democratic equality, it underrated the “passive” virtues of humility and obedience to ecclesiastical authority. Americanism was condemned by Pope Leo XIII in an apostolic letter, Testem Benevolentiae (January 22, 1899), addressed to Cardinal Gibbons. ( Fr. John Hardon’s Modern Catholic Dictionary, © Eternal Life.)

Obviously, this heresy spread throughout Europe and had great influence in The Episcopal Church. Here is a link to a Catholic Culture article on Americanism in general: catholicculture.org/culture/library/view.cfm?recnum=7630

I think if there is a man maligned in our country he is one of them… remember all the attacks on him because he was on prescription medicine and having hearing issues. People are mean to the bone. I will check out the other post and great to hear he is showing respect for the Pope, links? I find it hard to not like Rush deep down as I think he has fought hard and been maligned at every opportunity.

Of course, rather like our Church, a few people hate Rush Limbaugh, millions hate who they THINK he is. I am not a listener but I get bits and snippets of his discussions from other sources. I also read his autobiography and you see a completely different side of him. Those who know him on a personal basis say he’s a kind hearted, patriotic soul and a great friend. He’s also a great entertainer who uses hyperbole and exaggeration to make his points. He also started the Talk revolution and that is a major way the grassroots folks can get involved in political and cultural issues.

I don’t have a link specifically related to Rush’s respect for the pope, but his radio shows have been peppered with direct implications (at least) of it. Moreover, Rush soon was told by friends and listeners that he had been “had” by Reuters, Wash Post, etc., e.g., the pope never even mentioned “unfettered Capitalism”–it was Reuters, viz: Nov. 26 “(Reuters) - Pope Francis attacked unfettered capitalism as ‘a new tyranny.’”

How can anyone take this obese drug addicted loudmouth seriously?

Your statement regarding Obamacare is neither factual nor “undisputed” as you claim.
It is factual and disputed only by you because you aren’t completely informed about how Obamacare works. Actually, it’s more basic than that. You don’t seem to understand how insurance works.
So far billions have been spent and this law that you defend has provided no healthcare to anyone. It has not saved anyone from financial ruin.
Not sure that it’s billions yet. It has probably saved some from financial ruin already due to the ability of insured parents to keep their children on their plans until 26. The individual mandate hasn’t gone into effect yet.
But to upend an entire system where over 80% of Americans were happy with their healthcare situation, to supposedly help a comparative few who were unable to get insurance is undefensible.
And nobody here is defending it. You made that up.
Many states have risk pools and most with pre-existing conditions get their insurance through their employer…just like almost everyone else.
So you support raising taxes and employer mandates. As a conservative, I cannot. I believe in subsidiarity and individual responsibility. I can only conclude that you are a left-winger who wants single-payer and desires nothing more than for people to live on communes.
Basically you seem to support an answer that was in search of a problem.
Except I presented the problem, i.e., financial ruin due to medical expenses, and you more or less agreed that it’s a problem. You think the solution is a top-down employer mandate and a new welfare program to subsidize high risks and you still wouldn’t address the problem of the uninsured healthy person who unexpectedly gets into a severe car accident.
How do you defend this mess?
I don’t. Again, you made it up. I merely stated a fact: Obamacare addresses a problem. I didn’t say it’s the best way to address the problem. I don’t believe it is. You refuse to acknowledge facts and presented as a solution a left-wing plan. How do you defend forcing employers to pick and pay for their employees’ health insurance? How do you defending funneling people into socialist high risk pools?

I suspect you are someone who simply likes to argue who is the world’s best expert on your own opinion but do not provide much more than assumptions and suppositions regarding Obamacare. I am a CPA who’s been in the healthcare financial world for 30+ years. Trust me, I understand how insurance works. I understand how Obamacare was supposed to work although it was set up with so many fatal flaws that it’s doomed to failure. The only question is how much destruction in its wake. As to the great “benefits” of Obamacare, so far you have simply presumed that this must have happened although you have exactly zero evidence. The Obama-nauts are scurrying around trying to find feel good stories but when almost 6,000,000 have lost insurance and many more than that have seen their premiums, co pays and cost sharing double…they are few and far between. There is simply no defense for those who enacted and supported this law. They were ignorant at best and at worst wanted to be a force of destruction.

The thread is on Rush Limbaugh and your rabbit trail is way off course. So have a great day.

Trust me, I understand how insurance works.
Clearly you don’t. Here’s how insurance works. You pay a periodic premium so that if the triggering event occurs, you get compensated. So if a healthy but not rich person who doesn’t qualify for Medicaid or Medicare gets into an accident and runs up an enormous medical bill, it kind of makes a difference to his financial situation whether or not he’s insured.

And here’s how Obamacare works: It requires everyone carry insurance.

There’s a million things Obamacare does and does wrong. But you are claiming it doesn’t it doesn’t do the one thing everyone agrees it does.

As a CPA this is not your area of expertise. I’m a lawyer who actually read the law. You’re not and you haven’t.

Obamacare “requires” everyone to have insurance but if you don’t carry insurance there is a fine (tax). Many millions of people, particularly the young and healthy will play roulette, pay the fine and hope nothing happens. While they can buy insurance “after the fact” it will not cover the initial incident. So financial ruin might occur despite the mandate.

You cannot force people to buy a product they do not want to buy. There may be some ramifications but no one who fails to buy insurance goes to jail. Further despite all of your claims at this point 6,000,000 have LOST insurance, five times the number who’ve bought it on the exchanges. So how’s that workin out? Not well. And what about financial ruin for those who are now having to decide between paying their mortgage and buying health insurance? Or those who are facing ruin because the medications they’ve been using are not part of the Obamacare formulary. If they want their M.S. or oncology treatments they have to pay out of pocket.

A lot more people will be ruined financially BY Obamacare than were bankrupted before this disaster was passed.

Oh and you have no clue what I’ve read so don’t bother making accusations you cannot support.

Obamacare is proving my point every single day with one disaster after another. Wait until all of the employer plans implode next year. Although they have conveniently pushed it beyond the date of the elections, people will know well in advance.

I’m the mother of a 30-year-old and a 27-year-old. Although they will always be my “children,” they are definitely NOT children, and haven’t been children since they graduated from college in their early twenties (21 and 23–the two extra years were for grad school). At that point, they were both supporting themselves and functioning as adults, independent of their parents. And one of them majored in theater, so don’t tell me that only certain educational choices actually lead to “jobs.” Baloney! My theater kid is savvy and smart and works like a slave to stay employed as a theater professional; she hasn’t taken a “vacation” or even a long weekend in years.

I think it’s sickening that the government is encouraging young adults to remain 'children." What a disgrace! A whole generation of Peter Pans. And parents who should be saving for their own retirement are still footing the bill for their “children.” This is a disastrous course.

Certainly there are young adults who, because of a disability, must remain at home under the care of parents. But most young adults should be getting OUT of their parents’ homes and living on their own and supporting themselves.

Instead of passing a bill encouraging 26-year-olds to depend on mommy and daddy, our government ought to be doing whatever is necessary to encourage the growth of the economy which would mean jobs that would enable 26-year-olds to pay for their own health insurance. When I say, “do whatever is necessary,” I mean that all politicians need to set aside their political loyalties and ambitions, study the science of economics, and make wise decisions regardless of their party platforms.

Absolutely spot on. The Left likes to promote perpetual adolescence…free birth control! Stay on your parents’ insurance until you’re 26! That might make sense for for a kid in medical school but for the average young person, you’d hope they’d be launched before they are 26. And nothing would help this cadre more than a growing economy. The levels of unemployment among young people are staggering.

The other truly odd thing about the “26 and living off mom and dad” meme is that it is counterproductive for Obamacare’s financial health. The very group needed to pay more into the program so I’ll have Medicare in a few years, is the group that has avoided participating in the exchanges because it’s cheaper to have your parents pay. My only thought is that this was goodies for votes because anyone who understands insurance knows that you need a lot of young and healthy people to balance the expected influx of old and sick. By letting them stay on their parents plan they are shooting themselves in the foot. (hoping it’s a fatal wound :D)

I was trying to tie this back to the thread…and remembered how outraged people were when Rush said he hoped Obama failed. Well I do as well because what he wants for America has been a disaster. Ditto for Obamacare. I want it to fail and be withdrawn. It’s on its way!
