Does Catholic rudeness keep you away from the Church?

Yes, once again you present a sensible and reasoned argument.

It’s perhaps worthwhile bringing to mind from the Gospel accounts how Jesus treated women. At the risk of censure from the Hebrew good old boys club Jesus talked to women, responded to their touch, healed them, received their emotional and financial support and used them as main characters in His stories. He even welcomed a woman’s anointing of His head as indicative of her understanding of His real mission. Moreover, Jesus spoke directly to the matter of treating a woman as a sex object. In the Sermon on the Mount, He redefined adultery to include a lustful look. So as Jesus made religion a matter of the heart instead of the law He elevated women from the level of sexual exploitation to the level of full personhood.

Conclusion: The Founder of Christianity wasn’t rude to women (I’m making a feeble attempt to stay on topic).🙂

Biblically,
Mick

we’re so off topic it’s rude (my feeble attempt) here’s some interesting reading on that subject

**Hi SS, 👋
Well you are wrong again. But that isn’t any big surprise to me after reading other things you posted. I can save you the trouble.👍 They are both part of the One Holy Catholic Church and Apostolic Church by having valid apostolic succession and the Orthordox church’s claim of being “part of that church” is just as valid as the Roman Catholic Church’ s same claim. We are two parts of the One Holy Catholic Church and Apostolic Church. But I thought everyone knew that?🤷 We have always had the same basic beliefs. We recognize each other as valid parts of the church founded by Jesus, 2,000 years ago…
Now the 61,000 groups identified as Protestant are a different story. They have too many false and distorted beliefs. The one thing they all agree with is that the real Holy Catholc Church is wrong and their individual chuch claims to be the :“new”" improved" real church! It is almost funny! 😃 They come around 1,500 years after Jesus himself warned of their false teachers, and churches and pretend that they are Christ’s church! The real chuirch is 2,000 years old and does not recognize their false claims of even being churches. I have to admit I enjoy the TV guys they make me laugh! They are so phony that even their combovers need “curing”.:rotfl: :rotfl:

Ponder this! Real Christians are the “Body of Christ” Jesus is our head. The church has remained virtually unchanged for 2,000 years. The counterfeit groups started 500 years ago. They quickly divided, multiplied and became 33,000 denominations with over 28,000 sub denominations, communities, groups, sects, cults, socials, fellowships, potlucks, Jazz fests, whatever you wish to call them. That makes 61,000 groups they took the basic teachings of the real church added subtracted, expanded and decreased them until they use 1,375 different sets of dogmas. doctrines, beliefs.
I must be honest andadmit that their Bible is much better than their groups : Click on: Why Protestant Bible Is MuchBbetter Than The Groups That Read It!**

If the body of Christ was a human body what would it be called? I am not a doctor, I am not a smart as most of you people here. But I know what a cancer is when I hear of it! There are 21 new groups formed monthly! Some believe that Protestants will divide to over 100,000 by 2050. I think it will be much sooner! The Devil must keep the confusion or people may figure out they are following a false teachings and belief systems.

I pray for all the Protestants that they may obtain eternal life and follow the real teachings of Jesus. Especially the ones outlined in John 6.

Remember to pray for an end of Abortion! God needs to hear all our voices crying out in anger against this crime against God Himself.

God Bless
Please go away.

Appreciatively,
Mick

I would like to believe what you state here is true (I have made the case before myself on occasion), but it seems to me more like enlightened wishful thinking. I will go this far in agreeing with you:

The Orthodox have always been Catholic and no one, bishops of Rome included, can take that away from them. Many Roman Catholics will not agree with me. They will choose instead to attempt to somehow “decertify” the Orthodox and claim a monopoly on this quality for Rome. It cannot be done of course.

The Orthodox, for their part, have no formal opinion about whether the Roman Communion is truly Catholic or not. None whatsoever. Most of us (some even at the highest levels) will personally give the benefit of the doubt in this case and pray for Christian unity. But there is no way for us to know with certainty.

For the record, Catholic Answers Forums considers Orthodox Catholic Christians to be “non-Catholics” for purposes of the organization of these forums. So although I disagree with the opinion I spend most of what little time I have right here in the non-Catholic section with the Muslims, Mormons and JW’s. 🤷

SSTeacher has been around the block long enough to know about these difficulties between our two communions, so I understand why it looks like a zero-sum game from that point of view.

My dear friend in Christ Jesus,

Right on:thumbsup: 😊

As a lifelong RCC, I am more than embarrased, and at times deeply regretful, for the lack of common charity by fellow Catholics.

We know better, but sadly, allow ourselves at times to be drug down by responces to our post, rather than turning the other cheek, as Jesus would have us do.

It happened to me once, and I felt horrible until I confessed my sin. Even then I did not feel aquiited until I made ammends to the person I got angry with.

That person was angry that I would not change my beliefs, and would not accept the biblical evidence I presented. No doubt a very trying relationship for both parties. But I was more wrong!

This is a “Catholic Forum” and I volunteered to represent my Church and our Faith Beliefs, so no matter what is presented to us, and no matter what degree of rudeness it is presented, our obligation is to demonistrate Christian Love in action.

If we are unable to do this, then we should sign off of the thread and move on.

Never, Never:tsktsk: should a Catholic, or any Christian post in anger, and without Christian Charity. This is even more true for us Catholics, as we represent our Church and our faith. :angel1: :hug1:

God bless you, and thanks for reminding us of our Moral Duty!
Thank you for your honesty!!!🙂
We can all learn from you.👍

To those who feel that the exegetical evidence is lacking in showing that it is a real presence, and believe it is more symbolic in nature, I ask you this. Have they lost any of the benefits (without going into the RCC assumption that all Eucharistic fellowship is worthless unless RCC in nature) to be received by it?

If they do the work of Christ to the best of their ability and understanding are they doing the work of Christ? Christ said feed, clothe, and house the poor, tend to the sick, visit the imprisioned. Treat all as you would want them to treat you. Turn the other cheek. I find these the most important aspects of Christ.
Can it be true? Is Jesus Really in Catholic Holy Communion?

Jesus Willed to stay with us. Mt. 28: “18 And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me… and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age."

The gift from God, of God (His Son, Jesus the Christ) and for God, in that it is the greatest source of grace, leading to our eternal salvation.

When the Catholic priest or bishop pronounces the words: “This is My Body…. This is My Blood” two miracles take place. First the priest is momentarily miraculously transformed into Christ Himself, as it is Christ who makes the transformation (Transubstaniation…Catholic theological term) of what appears to be ordinary bread and wine, into the very Flesh and Blood of Jesus Himself. Thus we proclaim that what was, is no more” Jesus Himself, not a sign, and not a symbol: Jesus Himself is made present. All that remains are “the accidents” that is to say the appearance of bread and wine. Has to be with direct Apolostic Succession!

John: Ch. 6:

52The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” 53 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; 54 he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed

66 after this many of his disciples drew back and no longer went about with him. (Deciples …not Apostles.” no longer” means that they deserted Jesus and His teaching.) 67 Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also wish to go away?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life; 69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”

Jesus didn’t say …oops, “you didn’t understand what I was trying to say.” He simply asked ‘do you not understand, not believe and wish to go away (desert Me)?

**Saint Paul: 1st. Corinthians 11: **
27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 for any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself.

33 So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another—34 if any one is hungry, let him eat at home–lest you come together to be condemned. Paul is saying this “this not a meal! It is the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Himself.” Were he not saying this, why would one be” condemned” for eating what is only ordinary bread, and drinking ordinary wine? **NOT! **

Only through the window of Divine Love, can one even come close to understanding why God did this.

Heb. 2: “5 For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. 7 Thou didst make him for a little while lower than the angels, thou hast crowned him with glory and honor, **8 putting everything in subjection under his feet." Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. **As it is, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. 9 But we see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for every one.”

Desiring to do more, to be more, to save more; Christ became our Bread and our Drink. God didn’t settle for (dare I say) “just” becoming a man like us in every way but sin. Jesus the God-man, didn’t just die for us. No, God who promised to be “with us until the end if time,” (Mt. 28:20), Willed to become an inanimate object, ordinary bread and wine.

Why did Jesus allow Himself to be born as a small, helpless, baby? Remember he was “laid in a manger.” What is a “manager? Something that hold food. Where did this take place? Lk. 2: “15 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they went with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And what does the work “Bethlehem” mean in Hebrew?” It means, “house of bread.”

Jesus came to us as a tiny harmless baby, so as not to scare or to intimidate us. For the very same reason, he assumes the appearance of bread and wine. Mt. 11: 28 ”Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Jesus loves us too much to scare us, to force us, but loves us so very much that He desires to lead us to Himself.

This, my friend can only be understood through the window of Divine Love! A gift of Jesus to the only Church He founded.

In my experience there are two really rude types in relation to Catholicism; the rude Catholics (and yes there are plenty!), and the militant anti-Catholics who have a beef with the Church. As far as most protestants, I don’t find them to be as extreme or overbearing as many Catholics. And this did in fact drive me away from the Church as a kid. If they were supposedly just relating the Truth, then why so ugly about it? But I had to learn to separate people’s many faults from the reality that IMO the Church does hold the greatest Truth. It’s not always easy however and I do understand why many people on the outside can’t see the point in doing it.

For example, my husband and I have 3 very young children and another on the way, and not too long ago, new in the area, we visited a new parish. The kids were just having a bad morning and the youngest toddler throwing a real fit. Finally, totally exhausted and frustrated, we decided to leave after communion. I wanted a bulletin so I could find out more about the parish–and this older white/male usher refused to give me one because Mass wasn’t over! People like that who play “Church cop” are not doing anyone any favors. Luckily I am not very easily put off.

Thanks for the above commentary. Do you have any thoughts to share about Catholic rudeness and the effect it might have upon those who are on the receiving end?

Your welcome!

The “Four Marks” (charistrictics) of the RCC are

She is **One **because God desires only One Church

She is Holy = Founded by Jesus and Kept Holy through His Divine Merits

She is Catholic which means Universal, worldwide

She Apolstolic founded on the teachings, beliefs and practices of the Apostles.

When any Catholic acts without love, mercy, understanding, and charity, they are counter productive to each of the Four marks.

I am shocked and dismayed that any Chrsitian lacks common Courtesy, but to have a Catholic do so, is a complete breakdown of what we believe, what we are to live and what we are to put into practice. 😊 😦

Mt. 12: 47 And that servant who knew his master’s will, but did not make ready or act according to his will, shall receive a severe beating. 48 But he who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, shall receive a light beating. Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required; and of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more. "*

It has to be this way; God MUST BE FAIR, MUST BE JUST!

They don’t speak with one voice.
Old Calendar Orthodox Church of Greece
The Holy Synod in Resistance, which has its Headquarters in Greece, with the help of God, shepherds those pious Orthodox Christians who are, first and foremost, opposed to ecumenism, that is, who have been out of Mysteriological (Sacramental) communion since 1924 with the so-called “official” Churches that participate in the ecumenical movement, since they (the Old Calendarist Faithful) regard ecumenism as an ecclesiological heresy and the New Calendar as a reprehensible innovation.

Does Catholic rudeness keep me away from the church? Yes! Along with Catholic arrogance.

“We have the one true Church Jesus founded through Peter, so your opinions don’t matter. You belong to a man-made church and will burn in hell. Your baptism is invalid. We gave you your bible!”

But pride is a disease that can easily be found among all people. We have protestants who call the Catholic church the ‘whore of babylon’, not realizing that the RCC being ‘the whore of babylon’ would automatically condemn protestantism as 'the children of the whore of babylon - and condemning everyone as apostates.😃

I see what you mean, though I think I don’t really agree. In my faith tradition, we are happy to conclude that the Eucharist and the real presence of Christ are mystery. Mystery is not meant to be unraveled or explained. It is, it is believed, and that is the end of it. I don’t see Christ being concerned as to our defining the concept, only in believing. That is my personal belief…
Can I please ask how we believe in something or someone that we know little or nothing about, a complete mystery? We have to know something of God to believe in Him. I propose that the more we know, the better and stronger believer we can be, knowing what we believe in and worshiping Him for Who He Is.

God is a mystery in as much as we can never fully understand Him. If we could, He would not be God. So, the task is to understand Him as much as we can, and realize He is still mystery in that we do not understand Him fully. God has revealed His nature to us, and there are things we do know about Him. I don’t think we should limit our knowledge and understanding of Him and just stop learning saying He’s a mystery that I believe in. This includes His Eucharistic Presence. We need to understand that this is different modality than when two or more are gathered in His Holy Name. It is very important. For example, it is very important to know that the person of Christ has two natures, one fully God and one fully man. In this way, we understand better His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, etc. God revealed Himself to us, and calls us to be like Him. How can we do so unless we receive His revealed Truth and seek to know Him?
