I think there are a good many who believe in the same things. Maybe not a majority, but maybe we need to take up the idea that a huge segment of the voters have a slate of issues that neither party covers entirely. Well, both parties have hills they’ve staked out that are somewhere between totally unacceptable and unsatisfactory. Maybe it is time for a third party.Right now, there are reasonable people on both sides who are being pushed out of their parties because they don’t believe in the party line. The problem is not that Americans don’t want conciliatory politics, but rather that they don’t want to vote for people who don’t believe in anything.
