So please explain Matthew 7:22-23. Those weren’t Muslims.
People believe they are doing the Lord’s work but are condemned.

Ok have you ever had a conversion experience? Well, this passage seems to imply only those with a sincere conversion experience will be saved.

However what would be the point of going to confession if sins are not forgiven? And how does one change one’s heart - only those fully committed will be saved?

Then what did the people in Matthew 7:22-23 not do? Sounds like they did these things, Christ rejected them, and never knew them.
All you can do is love God, accept God’s love, repent, receive the sacraments for graces - and that’s the best you can do.

If he’s going to test us he should give us a written. 😛

But seriously. God doesnt give us " tests". He knows what you would do in every concievable situation. So its not for him. Its for us. He gives us trials to draw something out grom us. Or to strengthen us. So its only a test from our perspective. When in reality its simply character building.
For example when God told Abraham to kill isaac, he already knew what Abraham was going to do. But he wanted to show Abraham what he himself is capable of.

That is just it. It only sounded like they we doing it. They were not actually doing what they were pretending to do. They were play acting, which is where the word hypocrite comes from…
That sounds like one explanation, but it doesn’t seem to fit. They did miracles in Jesus’ name. They expelled demons in his name. How did they do that if not given the power by Jesus? Why would Jesus give such great power to people who are evil? In the meantime, there are many people who are doing his will who don’t have that power.

Something doesn’t seem right here, and I can’t figure it out.

This doesn’t say that the sins aren’t forgiven, but that even if the sins are forgiven this is not enough. Even given supernatural graces such as prophecy and the ability to do miracles, is not enough!

We have to know Jesus.

It seems to imply that even if someone is in a state of grace (sins forgiven, grace given to the people) but does not know Jesus, elevator down. This is something that scares me!

At this point I don’t know how to get around this difficulty, so I’ll just be forced to bury it mentally. So basically I’ll be pulling Archie Bunker’s advice and “Stifle it.”

Jesus is Love. We know Him when we give of ourselves to one another. That is God’s will. No prophesies or miracles are required.

Life is one big test!

Sometimes we pass the test, sometimes we fail.

God is watching. Making notes!!!
