There was no “angel” named Moroni.
Mormons can’t even get that one right. He was Nephi during Joseph Smith’s time. Then he changed his name to Moroni.
Mormons on another website claim “Moroni” is the unnamed angel in Revelation 14:6. He supposedly was the son of a man named “Mormon” and had the plates revealed to Joseph Smith.

Let’s just say that a religion that teaches that people can become angels (“Moroni” is an archangel in the Mormon religion) and that Lucifer is the brother of Jesus is not a religion I want any part of. When I run into them while out, I just tell them I’m Catholic and very happy where I am.

It is so with active Latter Day Saints such as myself wanting to grow in their in the faith of the gospel, particularly in my mind those who outside of the church who have their “agenda” to give their views about Mormonism’s real views, which I submit are never correct. Attacking another’s faith that some do not agree with is wrong, period and I would believe that those who do not agree with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and its doctrine should respect their right to believe what they do. Have some of you forgotten about how Catholic Answers began ---- a tract that was placed on cars outside the founder’s parish by a non friendly Catholic group, attacking Catholicism.
From the guy who continuously attacks the Catholic faith.

18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)—and which I should join.

19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.”

I hope this helps …

So your view is because the Catholic church claims to be what it is, which I submit folks have the choice to find out for themselves if that is the case or not and not be “bullied”, I hate to use that word nonetheless that is how I feel as a former Catholic.

Our missionaries sharing what we believe is giving folks a choice to find the truth or join, remain loyal to Catholicism or not. That was my case years ago and I happy I met with the missionaries ago.

I believe active Catholics or others have the right to find out for themselves without the view or notion because the Catholic church exists that it has the truth. If that was the case, I submit that Joseph Smith’s First Vision would have revealed such instead what he was told. I remind those who are critics of my church that Joseph Smith was seeking to the church of Jesus Christ of the existing churches in 1820, including Catholicism. He was seeking to create another church - just a answer to his prayer.

The First Vision, that answered his prayer of which church, including Catholicism in 1820 to join. Regarding the version, the number of versions is irrelevant ---- he never denied that it occurred.

Your attempt to discredit the Prophet Joseph Smith will never end I suppose.

I don’t need to discredit him. He does it fine on his own. Doesn’t even know what age he was or who he saw. I think if I had had such a fantastic vision, I would remember who was there.

I’m only ashamed that I bought into that hoax for so many years.

You can dismiss the vision that he had with God the Father and Jesus Christ. That is your right.

Trying to discredit him otherwise is useless — I could do similar with the Pope, with his views on the bogus climate change/global warming nonsense, approving adultery (that is from the author of “The Political Pope”), etc.

This is scratching the surface of why I left Catholicism.

You can believe it did not happen. It happened. Your attempt to discredit Joseph Smith and my church is nothing new. If God the Father and Jesus Christ thought Catholicism was the true church, they would have told Joseph Smith such, and the church of Jesus Christ would not have to be restored. Your replies among other things I have read and come across validates to me further why I left Catholicism.

Trust me. I get it. I used to be in denial too. I just pray that one day the Spirit will speak to your heart as it did mine.

I am not in denial. The Spirit spoke to me and no plans of returning to Catholicism.

You may have heard a spirit, but it is a historical scientific fact that the Book of Mormon is not what Joseph Smith claimed it to be. This means Joseph Smith was not telling the truth about the Book of Mormon.

I don’t think anything in Mormonism can ‘contain the fullness of the gospel,’ because the President of Mormonism is continually makes up new things which Mormons are required to believe. Many of the new things are in direct opposition to the things made up by previous Presidents of Mormonism.

I love folks like you who nothing about how the Holy Ghost functions for those seeking the truth. Your notion that “active members are required” to believe what they hear from the prophet or the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints shows you are ignorant. You certainly do not know their real role in the world — again that is fine that you are ignorant, you have the choice to be such.

Discrediting the Prophet Joseph Smith is nothing new so nice try on your part.

It’s historical fact that Joe was a convicted criminal, liar, womanizer, adulterer and con man. You can spin it however you want but your own libraries have all the incriminating evidence needed.

It is absolutely true that the current leaders can change doctrine. They do it all the time. They also lie and teach the members to lie. There’s ample proof of that. Lying for the Lord is part of their practice. Mormons aren’t “required to believe” anything, however, you have to sustain the leaders in order to access the temples. All the marks of religious cults abound in the Mormon faith.

The Prophet Joseph Smith was pursued by his enemies — he was never charged, as you claim, of any act in a court of law.

As for any libraries of the church, they have the truth of what Joseph Smith went through.

He was charged and found guilty of glass looking. It’s on record.

He would have been convicted of counterfeiting had he not been killed first.
