Does the EWTN daily Mass set the benchmark for what an Ordinary Form Mass shoud be like?

I voted no because not every parish can afford to have a Mass like that.

I would beg to differ on that one. Reverence, solemnity and beauty don’t require a hefty price tag. You can have just as reverent a Mass as seen on EWTN even in a little chapel that resembles one of the huts from Gilligan’s Island. No matter how humble the circumstances, the Mass can stil be reverently and beautifully celebrated. Chanting in Latin doesn’t necessarily require an organ; using the original instrument, the human voice, is just as noble and grand. Remember, too, that the early Church celebrated many of her liturgies in the catacombs, not exactly neat and tidy places.

What is needed is to have the right attitude of offering a pleasing and acceptable Sacrifice to God the Father. One should not put a price tag on offering God fitting worship. We shouldn’t be so stingy with God. Recall what Jesus told Judas (who had been complaining about Mary spending all that money on expensive aromatic nard and putting it in the alabaster jar: “The poor you have with you always, not me.”

IMHO, the benchmark for the OF should be a Mass said ad orientem and entirely in Latin, with Communion under both species by means of intinction so that people don’t even have the option of receiving in the hand. I also think that Communion should be distributed at an altar rail so that everyone receives kneeling (unless impeded by health, etc.) I also think that the Roman Canon should be the used all the time, except maybe a few times a year. However, I think the way that Mass is said at EWTN is a good goal for the average parish to strive for. I especially like that no-one seems to receive Communion in the hand there.
