I don’t have a TV…just radio and internet. It does get old.

I have become far more isolated in my news choices…down to just NPR (preferably only the local shows) and Google News that I have filters on.

Hubby and I used to watch (officially branded) news clips as a part of our nightly youtube viewing. Now we stick to a few non-political youtubers and old TV shows.

Honestly, it’s a much better life and I’ll probably never go back.

no but mainly because i don’t watch much tv. i prefer to use an rss news reader. i follow mostly news sites from out of the states.

also i’m never hillary not always trump, so i’m not concerned with the name calling. he sometimes deserve it. i will be happy if he keeps his campaign promises.
 
Very much so.
We went to dinner last night to a place where they had CNN on with the volume turned off. Just reading the extremely biased headlines and watching the endless parade of democrats marching onto the screen was more than enough.
Nothing on the great job reports or the dnc rigging their own primaries just endless wall to wall drivel in russians and trump lies.
 
I take periodic media fasts. My first one was during the campaign because I actually had two panic attacks triggered by the news reporting.
To be fair, I was also in the middle of a family crisis and there was severe work stress going on at the same time.
But it did help calm the storm in my soul, and I was a better able to cope with RL.
I occasionally delve into the news, but I know when to quit before I get to panic attack.
I also take social media fasts.

I just cut my cable so I still have my talk radio and the news I can get on my Kindle. I stay completely away from from liberal news sources because they are so intent on creating scandal for anything relating to Trump and ignoring any scandals related to the democrats or liberals.

I stopped watching television back in 2007. DC, Los Angeles, and New York have nothing of interest to me. I read from sources I regard either as professional (The Economist, say) , or from news websites with a unique perspective. Al-Monitor focuses on middle eastern news, for instance. I used to listen to the BBC global news podcast, but it had gotten too depressing.
 
Nope. I turned off tv immediately after Obama won his second election…and will never turn it back on. Best thing I did that year.
 
I guess it was a big deal today that he drank water while answering a question.

Someone please tell me that there’s more to it than that. It seems that every single thing he does is news-worthy.
 
No because the more coverage of our President the more it exposes the hyprocisy of the left.
 
i watch television all day & all night

i see the left-bias in the “news” broadcasts

i try not to let it bother me me whilest i derive mild entertainment value from benign, mildly interesting cable tv

Is the media coverage biased against President Trump? Most mornings, yes. This morning on CBS This Morning: No. They reported primarily about the Senate Alabama Republican candidate Judge Roy Moore and how Republican Senators we’re advocating a write-in candidate, Alabama’s current Attorney General. Then talked about sexual harassment on Capitol Hill and how both, Democrat and Republicans, had endorsed. President Trump was not mentioned in either lead story. President Trump was only mentioned in the third story due to fellow Republicans questioning the Presidential powers over the use of nuclear weapons and how they were last questioned in the 60’s during the Cold War. Now here is where the mud slinging started because they reported Senators were not thrilled with some things he said about North Korea. My point: we all have biases, even me. I love following the news and hate Democrats and Republicans. (Vote for Independents) I firmly believe a small 3rd party is needed in the U.S. to swing the tide to the center line. Knock out Air One and you may knock out U.S. Minuteman Missals response time for ten minutes, which could be a big deal. Why did they question President Kennedy after the Cuban Missal Crisis anyway? May have been more than just brash comments to reporters. (The Pentagon has probably thought all of that though.) Oh, I only have NBC and CBS news. How does Fox News treat President Trump?
 
Nope, I haven’t even had the TV on in something like 2 months. It’s gathering dust. I have a couple holy cards of Jesus and Padre Pio propped on its teeny screen. I buy the smallest TVs I can get because I barely watch the thing anyway.

Haven’t been reading the news pages much either. I pop up a page like CNN once a day for like 1 minute to just see if anything dramatic happened in the world, other than that I ignore it. If a really big story breaks, I can count on about 10 of my social media friends to start posting about it so I’ll hear all I need to know on there.

The last news story I was actually interested in was a couple weeks ago with Rand Paul and his crazy doctor neighbor having a fistfight on the lawn. That didn’t make me turn the TV on though.
 
I generally don’t watch my news, either broadcast or videos online or anything. I prefer to read my news.

When coverage is so relentlessly negative as it has been, I tend to tune it out.

I also tend to tune out news elements that resonate as manufactured outrage. Generally, you see Situation A, and it gets mocked/ignored/swept under the rug/whatever, and then you see the same situation with a slightly different cast of characters or setting, and all of a sudden it’s the worst thing in the world. (Sheehan vs Vaughn vs the Khans, for example.)
 
i am trying to understand why posters here are not watching television

tv can be an entertaining way to pass the time

there is sports, weather reports, old-time family sit-coms & movies

and EWTN

i don’t get it…

if you don’t like particular channel(s) don’t watch them…

there are a lot of fun & interesting things on television

Re EWTN, I just pulled up a Mother Angelica video on Youtube for 10 minutes, right after I spent about 7 minutes praying the St Bridget prayers along with another video.

Why bother with TV, everything I need is right on the web.

As for “pass the time”…I don’t have that kind of time on my hands. All the time you see me on here posting, I’m actually doing work in another window.

Not in the slightest.

I do not watch TV.

I do not read the newspaper.

I listen only to Catholic radio.

I am much happier now.
