Does this happen every generation? Or is something actually different?

I truly believe that all believers in Our Lord Jesus Christ need to pray more than ever before, and make sacrifices here and there to help feed and clothe those who who are in need.

As a Catholic I believe that Our Blessed Mother’s messages in private revelation about how much prayer and sacrifice is needed to turn things around has not been heeded.
Warnings are in the bible as well, of course. If half the time one spends on game-playing and sports watching were spent in prayer it would make a huge difference.

The more we pray and fast we will change, and that will help in changing those around us.

Be not afraid…pray and fast!

Yes, it rings true to me both that there’s something ‘new’ happening today (e.g. with the impact Internet makes on our impression of the world), while it was also reassuring to read you give specific examples of times you think seemed objectively worse, with compelling evidence. (E.g. war drafts, and rationing oil.)
 
How many ads that show women getting abused or that joke about killing women does it take before it becomes too much? 🤨

Not the question.
The question is about “rampant.”

So how many ads actually highlight wife beating and does that qualify as “rampant?”

I have, however, noted an apparent untruth that has been told.

Still waiting for the support that wife beating was rampant in advertising until at least the 60’s.
 
A bit older than you…I am in my fifties. Every generation tests prior generations but I think in current times we have jumped the shark on nearly every social issue. I agree with you the devil is more readily seen today than in past generations because many in the mainstream have lost their compass entirely.

I am hoping conservatism will continue to grow and we will go back several places in values, including return to church for many.

We can only hope and pray young people will recognize how disturbing popular society has become.

And, like I said, if your response to what was shown is “that’s not enough for me to consider it rampant,” then I think you need to reevaluate your priorities.

Perhaps before breaking out the ad hominem argument, we should come together with some definition. What exactly is “rampant”… one? More than one?

JESUS - Messiah of all - has given many Signs to look out for -

He is coming … and it’s best not to listen to any who peddle the notion to avoid what’s going down

On this Catholic Forum - it’s Catholic Teaching that Jesus is the Messiah of All =

As you know, Some have accepted Him as Messiah - and some have rejected Him

Such is Catholic // Christian Teachings - deemed as True…

Of course I know that a non-Christian by definition would not accept that…

And I neither force nor condemn those who disagree with JESUS…

AS for me? I prayed for Fortitude . Strength… Courage… and received it. .
