DOJ Designates New York City as an ‘Anarchist Jurisdiction'

People move to suffolk because they get more for their money, and it’s quiet. Not because of the anarchy.

NYC was significantly worse years prior.

Remember the 70’s.

Right. And why, in your opinion, do you suppose things improved from the 70’s?

Violence in NYC in the 70s may have been just as bad or worse, but the difference b/w then and now is that a lot of the growing present-day violence is the result of absurd political ideologies like ‘defunding the police’ or worse, ‘abolishing the police’. Gee, what could possibly go wrong with that?

It also probably doesn’t help that the mayor seems like more of an activist interested in trashing the police rather than giving them support

There are people leaving to decamp for the suburbs, but it’s because they feel safer from the virus there. There simply is no anarchy to be afraid of here.

And by the way, are you accusing me of lying (‘you know very well’)? May I remind you that you’re on a Catholic forum and you don’t know the first thing about me.

People have always left the city to move to the suburbs.

Westchester has many former Bronx residents. Long Island has many former Brooklyn and Queens residents, for example.

I was only a child, but I remember the black out of 77 and the looting and riots. It wasn’t an “anarchist jurisdiction” then. It’s not one now.

I do think it’s accelerating now (I have friends that are real estate agents in NJ) but I don’t think it’s because of riots, just the lack of desire to be in a crowded city in pandemic times. I feel it’s short-sighted.

Hiding an anarchist zone in the middle of the media capital of the world would be an exceedingly difficult thing to do, like hiding an elephant in a broom closet. And of course not all the media is liberal: to pull off the conspiracy, the NY Post and Fox News would have to be in on it.

When law abiding folks sit by and watch innocent black people get killed over and over and over again by police, they deserve to be a little uncomfortable!
