It just finished here. The show had a theme of unusual weddings. The first half was about a woman who married a man in prison for life.

I thought it went well. Again the show let the people tell their story. I enjoyed it since I was there for the perpetual vows and saw that “wedding reception”. Today’s show showed the new women coming to become postulates. Then we saw part of the Masses for full and final vows from this summer.

Yes - I thought the show was great too. I watched it when I got home from work. I think Oprah has developed a real love for them. I also was there for the “wedding reception” and my daughter’s first vows. Although, my daughter did a great job of avoiding the camera. There were only a couple of flashes of her in the show.

It was also interesting hearing other parents stories of when they learned that their daughters were joining the convent. It is WAY different than sending one away to college or the military (and I’ve had those too). My wife cried for 3 weeks after she was gone. Even the marines in boot camp can write home every day. My daughter could only write home once a month last year (twice a month this year 👍). But I do agree that this is necessary and our spiritual bond is enhanced.

Great job sisters!

JohnMPhilomena- God bless your daughter for Praying for all of us.

Unfortunately, I missed the show also. 😦 So hopefully, it will be aired again or I will be able to watch it online.

However, it’s “funny” because a lady from a fitness center my mom, sisters, and I go to asked me if I watched the Dominican Nuns on Oprah and she thought of me while watching it.

God bless,
goforgoal

I was only able to watch the shows in segments from her website, so it was in pieces but it was still nice.
I don’t watch Oprah usually, working and not my type of thing, but I was glad they were on. So many do watch her and they can see what I usually see only on EWTN.
When I try to tell people about the nuns at certain orders, growing orders, they just look at me like I’m crazy, seeing the dwindling numbers in many groups. I support the desertnuns.com and they have accomplished so much in such a short time…and there are other Dominican orders that have grown and teach children. You can’t have hope without some witness and if Oprah can show women choosing an uncommon path, “normal” women, women that dispel stereotypes, then I’m for it. : )

I did find some clips on her site…it’s hard because they are short, but maybe after a while someone will put it on youtube.
I don’t know if this will be aired on YouTube or not. I noticed the first time that the Nuns were on Oprah it was posted on YouTube and that one was deleted. Most likely copyright laws.

Although, I don’t watch Oprah all that much anymore. I watched an episode where she was talking with women who escaped from Tony Alamo.

But Alamo’s church, which is still in business, sent us a message. This is part of it, verbatim.
“Tony Alamo has no secret world or child brides. He is the least secret person in the world. His church and he are open daily to the public, and he is very outspoken, as an open book. Oprah and the government media and the Roman Catholics are in conspiracy against him and his whole church.”

I remember seeing this negative comment and thinking perhaps the Lord is trying to tell you something here Oprah.
