If Americans were versed in the issues or cared, you might have a point. Paul Ryan was as versed in the issues as anyone, and the take away from the last VP debate was Biden’s strident demeanor and his teeth.
Not surprised. Americans seem more interested in a super white smile and a strident demeanor than political issues.

Paul Ryan made a lot of mistakes in that debate and that campaign. He has even said as much himself (and is a much stronger and more respectable person/future candidate for it in my mind).

Being well versed in the issues isn’t everything, and everyone tends to forget that despite Biden’s gaffe-prone buffoonery he isn’t a slouch.

This is true. Ask the average joe how many USSC justices we have, or what the three branches of government are, or any basic issue, and they seem to blanche. It is a sad state of affairs, and a sign that we are a spoiled nation, by and large.

I know. I just hope we keep in touch till election day, so I can see how ridiculous you both feel when the results come in. 🙂 😉 🙂
Or you! Trump is now bragging about his battles with venereal disease as his “own personal Vietnam.” Cruz is calling Trump immoral, a narcissist, a bully, and a pathological liar. He’s not off the mark.

Hello, President Clinton! 👍

True. And it is embarrassing.

Trump didn’t say that, of course.

If I were Trump, I’m not even sure I would agree to debate Hillary Clinton. She has been practicing for decades now, and the debate would be full of things like that; blindsiding with falsehoods. Would Trump pay a price for not doing it? Maybe, because people expect it now. But maybe people have had it with the round-the-clock political coverage and might not even miss it.

He might pull it off, saying he wants to talk directly to real people, not to “crooked Hillary” with biased moderators helping her tell lies like they did with Obama.

One needs to remember that Truman defeated the much-favored Dewey not in debates, but by going around the country to every whistle stop and talking directly to the people.
Trump seems most effective when he’s doing essentially the same thing.
If he’s the Republican nominee and she’s the Democratic, he’ll have to debate her or lose.

I don’t know about the Truman-Dewey comparison since today we live in the television and Internet/social media age in which people expect others to face the camera or else face the consequences. Or do you mean live, in-person debates in the Lincoln-Douglas style?

Hillary will win, the country will suffer, and liberals will talk of her like she’s god.

Actually he didn’t.

Cruz’ father, an Evangelical preacher, warned from the pulpit that a “biblical” catastrophe would happen to the country if Cruz didn’t win the primary.

National Enquirer had run the story about Cruz’ father being associated with Oswald in the “fair play for Cuba” group. Maybe the story is true and maybe it isn’t, but it’s the story.

In addressing the assertion of “biblical” catastrophe if Trump wins the primary, Trump remarked that saying such a thing is horrible, and said that nobody is saying anything about Cruz’ father’s association with Oswald.

Trump didn’t say Cruz’ father was involved in the JFK assassination.
I think he did. Cruz said:

“Donald Trump is a serial philanderer, and he boasts about it,” Cruz told reporters, referring to remarks Trump made to radio personality Howard Stern in 1997. "This is not a secret. He’s proud of being a serial philanderer. I want everyone to think about your teenage kids. The president of the United States talks about how great it is to commit adultery, how proud he is, describes his battles with venereal disease as his own personal Vietnam.

“Cruz’s remarks came the same morning that Trump, in a TV interview, invoked a tabloid report that tied Cruz’s dad Rafael to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy. Cruz has previously denied the story.”

I don’t see how anyone, Catholic or even atheist, can vote for Trump with a clear conscience. I used to have admiration for him for bringing to light the problems caused by Washington insiders, but that has evaporated in his “off the rails” comments against Cruz, who is too extreme for me, but is, at least a decent husband, father, and man.

He clearly implied it. I’m sure he knows that the Enquirer story has been debunked, but chose to throw it out anyway. I heard the soundbite and Trump stated as fact that Cruz’s father was pictured next to Oswald, and then Trump said “Horrible! Just horrible!”

Believe me, I’m not a Cruz fan, but I don’t see how anyone votes for Trump after this. .

Photoshop! I could put anyone in there myself! It’s the “National Enquirer,” not a pinnacle of truth by any means.
🙂 The National Enquirer isn’t top level journalism? Probably Trump didn’t know that lol!!

Dirty stuff these politics, and HIllary leads the way!!

I’m no Cruz fan, either, but I, would sure vote for him over Trump!

I expect it to get worse, don’t you? If Cruz should pull out a win in Indiana, think what the battle for California will be like.

I’m sure he knows that
Positive? rolfl. This guys a piece of work I’ll give you that. Very good at marketing himself which we all learned and by gimicks like this.

The electoral college counts the votes. They determine the winner not Gallup.
Assuming Cruz and Kasich supporters back Trump, and I think they will, Trump has a very good chance to win the election. Not because he is a particularly great candidate either. It will be because people don’t want to elect Hillary Clinton and the Democrats. I predict she weakens considerably throughout the campaign. Trump really doesn’t have to do much but expose her for what she is and say he will “fix things.” The Democratic political correctness is stale, suffocating stuff. The more the people on the streets start to feel like they can throw it off (and not be in trouble or ostracized for it), look out. Now, what we will actually get with a Trump administration, God knows. But I think it would be better than Clinton. Trump is not an ideologue; he will hear everyone out. We will get out of this political, cultural divisiveness, this polarization. Long overdue. (and Trump will only be as good as the administration he builds - this is the time for the GOP to figure that out and get in there, have a voice)
