Donald Trump attacks Hillary Clinton as wins set stage for brutal election

Cruz’ father, an Evangelical preacher, warned from the pulpit that a “biblical” catastrophe would happen to the country if Cruz didn’t win the primary.

National Enquirer had run the story about Cruz’ father being associated with Oswald in the “fair play for Cuba” group. Maybe the story is true and maybe it isn’t, but it’s the story.

In addressing the assertion of “biblical” catastrophe if Trump wins the primary, Trump remarked that saying such a thing is horrible, and said that nobody is saying anything about Cruz’ father’s association with Oswald.

Trump didn’t say Cruz’ father was involved in the JFK assassination.

I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous,” Trump said Tuesday during a phone interview with Fox News. “What is this, right prior to his being shot, and nobody even brings it up. There has been a significant shift over the past several weeks on the question of which Republican candidate would do better against Hillary Clinton in the general election, according to a new NBC News|SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking Poll.

Donald Trump has narrowed the gap on the Democratic frontrunner: In a theoretical match-up, 43 percent of registered voters would support Clinton and 37 percent would support Trump.

Cruz, meanwhile, received just 30 percent support when pinned against Clinton, who got 44 percent support. While Trump and Clinton are only 6 points apart, Cruz is 14 points behind Clinton in a theoretical match-up.

As of today, Trump now has the best numbers against Clinton of the GOP candidates, also in this poll - NBC (not exactly hard right). He is about 6 points behind - this matches Real Clear’s general numbers right now too. (NBC didn’t even poll Kasich)

I think the “Trump can’t win” argument will soon be hung out to dry - the real question is what happens if he wins, vs. what happens if Hillary wins.

2020 might be more interesting, especially if Mrs. Clinton loses this time - who will the Democrats field? Sanders again? (Anno Domini might preclude that.) A clone of President Obama? Alternately, if Trump loses, it might galvanize the Republican Party into being more circumspect and prudent in its selection of candidates.

I really doubt that. They will do as people always do, just accept that their candidate didn’t win this time and make do with the one who did. Apathy. It’s on both sides. If it weren’t millions more would have voted in the primaries on both sides of the aisle.

Maybe so, but there isn’t much barrier to Sanders supporters voting for Hillary Clinton. Sanders is for income redistribution and abortion on demand. Clinton is for abortion on demand and income redistribution.

The only real fall-off I could see among the Sanders people would be if a significant number of them realize how corrupt Clinton really is and recoil from it.

But the overwhelming majority of Bernie supporters would never vote Republican, except for a minority of his blue collar supporters.

Trump can really make people look foolish - he took down Bush, Rubio. I have more respect for both of them than Hillary. But Trump looks like a bully doing it. I don’t think it is a good quality, but he is effective at it. Obama made Hillary look bad (so does Sanders); I think Trump will undermine her as well. Of course the Dem media machine, Hollywood, will be in high gear with the revisionism - will it work I wonder. This will be fascinating, no question.
