Maybe, but the electorate didn’t hate him. In fact, he was well-respected. On the other hand…
Deleted my last post.

The Republican strategist says in The Hill article posted above “past nominees” so it isn’t just George H W Bush. And despite their differing biographies the point remains, he was “worse” in the polling than Trump early on…

Hillary is way ahead in national polls. I suspect things will only get better for her.
I agree. I am AGAINST her, but she will most likely win. Especially since the opposition is a either seen as total joke or abomination to most republicans.

How can “most republicans” think that, when as of June 1st when I believe this article was posted, Trump had more support from Republicans at 85%, than the Republican candidates from 1974, 1988, 1996, 2000 and 2008 got? fivethirtyeight.com/features/gop-voters-are-rallying-behind-trump-as-if-he-were-any-other-candidate/

Is there a path to the White House for Trump without Florida?

I’m surprised Trump is doing this well with Nonwhites.
They’ve been rigging the election for years, so they will just continue their disenfranchisement program aimed mainly at non-whites. Also anyone who has ever been convicted as a felon, even if they are innocent or have done their sentence and are now released cannot vote in Florida.

RE that Trump is getting any votes at all from non-white, it is a matter of him being a charismatic leader…like Hilter. People get wooed and bamboozled, mesmerized by him.

I don’t know if he can… I would like to know also. Does anybody know?

I saw Larry Sabato on Fox News and he didn’t seem to think too greatly of the Quinnipiac polls. He thinks she has a lead of about three points in Florida and a bit up on Trump in Ohio and Pennsylvania aid around the same. He thinks the lead in the national polls Clinton has should be applied to the states etc…

I checked on Real Clear Politics and Clinton has a national lead of 5.8 points… should that be applied to the various states? But that doesn’t even fit with the lead he gives Clinton in FL, OH, PA…

I am a bit confused.

Are you comparing Trump to Hitler?

I find it a it confusing.

Well even painting a rosy scenario by giving the presumptive Republican nominee not only OH but also PA, NV, CO, AZ, IA, NH, and NC, one must still click on red for FL or else he falls short.

From today’s Guardian:
Donald Trump’s campaign war chest is dwarfed by that of rival Hillary Clinton, representing one of the biggest financial mismatches in presidential election history, figures show.
While the Republican presumptive nominee entered June with just $1.3m in the bank, Clinton had $42.5m, according to filings released by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) – making her campaign cash reserve 32 times larger than that of Trump.
Much of Trump’s spending went to companies owned by himself.

I know that Trump wants to win this election on a shoestring budget, a lot of which is paid to his own companies and family. It will be an interesting experiment for the Republican party to see how well this is going to work.

I’ve just looked at some articles and Trump could win without Florida but obviously it depends what other states that he would win in the calculation that he could get to 270 or over. But there is a pathway or pathways without states that are likely inconceivable for Trump like California or Washington D.C. say…

Donald Trump will meet privately Tuesday morning with nearly a thousand social conservative leaders in New York City.
What started as a closed-door gathering of 400 social conservative leaders to test Trump’s values has grown to a daylong conference of 1,000, involving nearly all the traditional political influencers of the religious right. For some, it is an effort to get Trump to better understand their policy positions. For others, it is a late-breaking effort to try to get the GOP’s most reliable voter base on board with its most polarizing candidate in decades.

Seen a lot of that from even supposedly respectable news outlet. Is it any surprise people are showing up at this rallies with the intent to kill him?
What’s that line about history repeating itself first as tragedy then as farce?

And Donald Trump said, “Ask yourself, who is really the friend of women and the LGBT community." He’s no friend of the LGBT community if he’s meeting with the likes of James Dobson from Focus on the Family and Tony Perkins from the Family Research Council.

Yes, because listening to different points of view is exactly the same thing as endorsing them without question.

“For the gays out there,” Donald Trump said Wednesday, “ask the gays and ask the people, ask the gays what they think and what they do in not only Saudi Arabia, in many of these countries with the gay community. And then you tell me: who’s your friend, Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton?”

I’m not completely certain what Trump is saying here. But as for asking gays in Saudi Arabia, it’s probably not as bad for them as he imagines:
In Saudi Arabia, sodomy is punishable by death. Though that penalty is seldom applied, just this February a man in the Mecca region was executed for having sex with a boy, among other crimes. (For this reason, the names of most people in this story have been changed.) Ask many Saudis about homosexuality, and they’ll wince with repugnance. “I disapprove,” Rania, a 32-year-old human-resources manager, told me firmly. “Women weren’t meant to be with women, and men aren’t supposed to be with men.”
This legal and public condemnation notwithstanding, the kingdom leaves considerable space for homosexual behavior. As long as gays and lesbians maintain a public front of obeisance to Wahhabist norms, they are left to do what they want in private. Vibrant communities of men who enjoy sex with other men can be found in cosmopolitan cities like Jeddah and Riyadh. They meet in schools, in cafés, in the streets, and on the Internet. “You can be cruised anywhere in Saudi Arabia, any time of the day,” said Radwan, a 42-year-old gay Saudi American who grew up in various Western cities and now lives in Jeddah. “They’re quite shameless about it.” Talal, a Syrian who moved to Riyadh in 2000, calls the Saudi capital a “gay heaven.”
