Since he didn’t say that, I guess it doesn’t matter.
But he stated that he wouldn’t call McCain a hero bc he was captured.

I guess Trump can say that since he was in the military.

Oh wait the man dodged the military.

Perhaps. However, I truly believe that sycophantic Trump supporters are in the minority, even within the Republican party. There are many right wingers in the “Never Trump” movement who will never support Mr. Trump under any circumstances. And I cannot see Mr. Trump winning a majority of swing voters either. Mr. Trump’s opponents in the GOP primary went very easy on him. That will not be the case in the general election. Mr. Trump will be continually on the defensive, as his background will continue to be pored over in great detail, and all of his stream-of-consciousness policy ideas will be thoroughly challenged, as Mrs. Clinton so effectively did in her recent speech. We’ll hear it almost daily from Mr. Trump…“I’m being treated so unfairly.” Hardly.
For whatever it’s worth, I don’t think any of that’s really going to matter.

For the Dems as Dems, the main thing besides abortion on demand is loyalty to an ideology they don’t really hold anymore except as a hereditament, like a guy who hangs his great-great grandfather’s Civil War sword over the mantel; no longer meaningful in a present way, but containing a certain amount of nostalgia.

For the Repubs, as Repubs, it’s chaotic. There are so many ideas of what a “true conservative” ought to be that probably nobody could possibly satisfy very many of them.

What’s really going to matter is the perception whether this country is in trouble, and how deep, and who is more likely to fix it.

We’re at near-recession growth rate, just had a staggeringly bad employment report, incomes have declined, foreign policy results seem to get worse daily, taxes have increased, health insurance premiums are through the roof, race relations are getting worse, and small business just doesn’t want to invest. It’s not good. Yes, the stock market is a fairly bright spot, but it wouldn’t take much to head it south.

So, who is more likely, in the mind of most, to fix it? Hillary Clinton is “more of same” by any way one wants to look at it, but far worse when it comes to corruption. Trump is weird and inarticulate but has actually accomplished some things in life and seems, bit by bit, to be attracting some surprising people. One suspects he’s a lot better, one-on-one than he is in front of an audience. All the same, his attracting such large crowds is puzzling. Maybe it shouldn’t be. He never really seems to say much, but he does at least say SOMETHING. My goodness how we’ve eaten a lot of verbal pablum in the last two decades, and it might just be that people want to hear something that at least has a little bit of content, however badly he expresses it.

I think, in the end, it will come down to “who’s going to get us out of this hole”. People seem willing to forgive Obama for the miserable status quo as a person. But I see no reason to believe they’ll forgive Hillary Clinton for her hand in it.

McCain totally capitalized on his “war hero” status. I can’t think of one other thing that he was concerned with. Military, veterans, blah, blah, blah. There are other topics Americans are concerned with.
Wow , how quick conservatives leave their people.

He is going to be elected, you just wait and see.
We’ll see, in November after the elections I’ll come to you directly. Hopefully if he loses you don’t blame the media or liberals and take the lose as a man.

It really is fascinating how our mouths are gradually being sewn shut by the progressives. But even more fascinating is how readily and uncritically we accept it.
No one is taking away Trump’s right to say what is on his mind. He can say what he wants. Some are just pointing out what he said is racist.

Trump was a college student, what do you mean above?
People have left sports teams, college, families to join the US military to fight for our country.

You know what I mean but all your doing is defending him.

So tell me this Gary Taylor, when republicans spoke against democrats for being against the war in Iraq, and they used the statement, “why are you arguing if you’ve never been in the military nor do you have any family members in the military”, did you go after the republicans or did you pile on?

But now, it’s Trump, oh my God how can we speak against him.

You mean like Clinton’s ‘reservation’ comment last week and various others by Obama? No worry, we understand this stuff happens. No need to riot or anything like that. Try to be more aware though.

Cruz was supposed to be this election’s fall guy, like McCain was in '08 and Romney in '12. The script was for The Establishment to hand progressive blows to those loving pro-family conservative types who want an innocent place to raise their kids (right wingers! LOL! What a crime!), because they believe in God, romance, and are creating too many carbon burners for the planet to absorb (the nerve of these people!).

So all Hillary needed to do was plaster Ted Cruz’s face into a plaid used car salesman’s sport coat and place the image on billboards all across the country. Then her weak policy and debate skills wouldn’t have mattered. They wouldn’t have needed moderator Candy Crowley to help their candidate lie to the American people during a live debate again, only to apologize for the lie a few days later when most people weren’t watching, again. People would not be able to erase the image of plaid jacketed Ted coupled with his lying cheesy pleading tones of voice. Her war chest was to be used for this advertising. It was supposed to be a slam dunk to yield a death blow to the conservatives who put their faith in Cruz. Until Trump put the script into the shredder.

It’s funny because Trump said his supporters would stick with him even if he shot a man dead on Fifth Avenue. Clearly, we’re getting close to that test, but so far, his supporters stand by every intrinsic evil he supports.

Huh?

No I don’t know what you mean nor do I see where Trump dodged the draft.🤷
You said that he was in college. Others, left college, others left their families to join the military.

Ok, I’m with you, Trump was in college, but why can he go after McCain and call him not a war hero? Trump does not hold the definition of what a hero is.

Especially when he didn’t join the military.

If the GOP leaders got their way, Jeb Bush would be the nominee.

I have no idea what your talking about in relation to your previous racism dialogue you abandoned so quickly.

But, as to your last comment I would suggest anyone who follows Hillary after 1 million murders a year wouldn’t worry about rights, the dead, nor anyone dead in democratic cities like NY Chicago or LA and their yearly escalating death tolls, let alone any evil teaching which is obvious here on this thread let alone persecuting the church and little sisters.

Clearly he says and does things I don’t agree with, but that is his right, perhaps he will come to see things differently.

No. I was talking about the population generally. Accusations of “racist” are thrown around with abandon in this society, often without good reason. As perhaps you know, I was accused in this thread of being a “bigot” because I dared to say I thought Judge Curiel acted improperly in Trump’s case. Never mind the merits of the assertion. The nearest “shut your mouth” weapon at hand is “racist”, and it seems increasingly so as time goes on, notwithstanding that I doubt one in a half million people in this country are true “racists” in the sense of doing or willing anything negative on others because of their race alone.

And it’s that which prompts me to say peoples’ mouths are being progressively shut by progressivism.

And, in truth, it might even be part of Trump’s popularity. Trump speaks openly about dissatisfaction with Mexico and illegals and potential terrorist refugees, concerns share by a majority of people in this country. And, as poorly as I think he expresses it, I think he’s probably expressing a concern shared by many, if not most. So, okay, we see all of them called “racists” too, including right here on CAF and in this very thread.
