It’s a dangerous thing that, in a two party system, one party seems to be heading down a racist path. At this point, we can only assume that Donald Trump is seeking out new voters for the general election and his attacks on Judge Curiel seems to point towards trying to appeal to racists.

Interesting that opposing a judge because of his membership in a racist organization is now a racist act.

Ridgerunner, as far as I know, is an ordinary citizen.He is a farmer, I think, from somewhere in the Ozarks or the Southeast that I have never been to, and no very little about, outside of the odd movie here or there, such as Coal Miners daughter, which was likely set in a different state at any rate He used to be a Democrat, and may well still have remained one, were it not for the anti-life politics of the Democrats.

It is laughable that the only questions that people will even entertain about Hillary must be soft ball ones lobbed at them by people who already like Clinton.

That is a ridiculous standard, and the fact that people can actually make that kind of statement in all seriousness with a straight face demonstrates just how far that partisan politics have come to define a person’s whole reality, as if nothing that would not already be compliant with his or her worldview becomes irrelevant, and not worth the effort to examine.

I’d rather not talk on specific posters, but let’s just say that I don’t think you have provided a counterexample to my argument.
 
This is extraordinary. In this 2015 article on NPR, it is reported that a Judge with Iranian ancestry sued the Department of Justice because apparently this Judge was required not to hear cases where others of Iranian ancestry were partaking: npr.org/2015/01/24/379550390/should-shared-ancestry-force-a-judges-recusal-in-immigration-cases

This case was settled, with it being reported that the DOJ would “review its recusal policies” and the Judge got a payout: npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2015/11/03/454394225/government-settles-lawsuit-filed-by-iranian-american-judge

In my mind, this doesn’t excuse what Donald Trump said about Judge Curial, it was wrong and he appears to have backed away from it, but it is extraordinary that the DOJ may have in the past required a Judge of Iranian ancestry not to engage in cases where others of Iranian ancestry where partaking.

Well, since I was the one that brought up ordinary citizens, which you doubted, I provided you with exactly what I was talking about. That is not just a counter example. That is the complete context. It is ludicrous for you to disagree with what I actually meant.

But you have no answers to his questions, and dismiss them outright, simply because they are questions that are not asked by people who already like HRC.

If any question is going to be summarily dismissed because it comes from a conservative, then there can be nothing left to discuss. If simply asking a question becomes reason to dismiss it because it is not coming from a Democrat, that puts an end to any argument at all.

That is what partisan politics are all about. People actually refuse to engage, but scream over top of each other, and the one with the shrillest voice wins.

I said that I don’t know of ordinary citizens that are concerned with Hillary Clinton’s Benghazi scandal that aren’t quite partisan. You said this ordinary citizen is. I believe that he is quite partisan. That’s pretty much the end of it. I don’t see anything ridiculous about it.

Now, if you are disappointed that I won’t go barking up the Benghazi tree, I’m sorry but let me point you to the ‘boy who cried wolf’ example. If you keep saying there is a wolf and there is no wolf, sooner or later people stop listening to you. Kind of like with Republicans and the supposed Clinton scandals. On average, people just don’t believe the Republicans anymore on these ‘scandals’.

Congratulations on a self-fulfilling prophecy. If one questions Ms. Clinton’s past behavior, one is partisan, because only a partisan would question Ms. Clinton’s past behavior.

Can you list an actual accomplishment of hers that does not derive from her being married to Mr. Clinton? Or are her genitals sufficient qualification for the highest office in the US?
 
When Romney dashed all his efforts running for POTUS by caving before CNN’s/Crowley, it was stunning to witness. That was the Fat Lady singing. Then he spent a great deal of time retiring to his home and family - into the sunset. What a surprise to have him jump out of the box with his hair on fire to stop Trump at all costs! What’s with him? Is it that he is Jeb Bush’s BFF and Jeb could not come through as a choice of the people? They got into a petulant snit because the establishment isn’t popular with the voters this time.
Its kind of embarrassing to watch him insert himself into the pouty fray.

I’m sorry that the Republicans drummed up to many fake scandals on the Clintons over the years to have themselves be taken seriously on this.

My personal interpretation of Church teaching makes me believe that I should not support Clinton for President, but I freely admit that is my personal interpretation and Catholics should seek out the appropriate resources such as Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship and the various comments of bishops in determining who to vote for.

It could be that Romney doesn’t want to see the Republican Party become the party of racists.
 
I was just watching Michael Reagan on Smerconish (CNN). He said that Trump had to earn his vote and that he had not yet done so. I will not go into the reasons why, you can look them up if you are interested in knowing why Ronald Reagan’s son has concerns about Trump.

So my question is, what besides being the Republican nominee and not being Clinton, has Trump done to earn the Catholic vote?

Indeed. I forget what Newt said about it exactly, but it was a relief to me because I was starting to wonder if he had gone into a “don’t question anything” mode.
