*Donald Trump said Friday Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is his choice to be his running mate.

“I am pleased to announce that I have chosen Governor Mike Pence as my Vice Presidential running mate. News conference tomorrow at 11:00 A.M.,” the presumptive Republican nominee tweeted.

CNN reported Thursday that Trump had called Pence and offered him the vice presidential slot on his ticket. Pence has accepted.*

It’s now official.

Great pick! Mike Pence is a staunch supporter of the major Catholic social issues in this dark time. He is big time pro life & pro marriage!

It was the best choice for him given the alternatives. It should bring a good number of evangelicals back into the Trump camp.

This was the best choice? Pence seems rather establishment. He voted frequently for war and spying on citizens. He folded like a cheap suit against the LBGT tyranny. He brings nothing good to the ticket.

All I have to say is that if this is supposed to balance the ticket, Trump must have been perceived as left of center?

I’m curious. Does anyone have concerns that he is a Catholic who left the church? Or are people focusing more on his political stances?

I have concerns when anyone leaves the Catholic Church. However, I would much rather vote for a Catholic who has left the Church, yet will defend the life of unborn babies than someone who hasn’t left the Church, but supports the killing of these innocent lives.

I had no idea Pence was Catholic and left. On the other hand, VP Biden as I understand it attends Mass regularly and Catholicism is a very important part of Biden’s life. So it must be political.

👍 Agree

Yeah, he managed to tick off both the left and the right with the RFRA-the left when he signed it and the right when he signed the “fix” that pretty much neutered the original bill. His job approval rating in Indiana has been in the low 40’s since that whole fiasco.

Being political would be putting politics before your values. Not values above politics. When someone says they believe abortion is wrong yet won’t support a pro-life position that is being political.

Mike Pence isn’t a perfect candidate, but no candidate is ever likely to be for political office. I think he adds the balance that Donald Trump needs. As I may have heard similarly on Fox News, this choice may reassure people who are concerned about Trump’s, at times, bombastic style.

Democrat email “today”
Trump just chose Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his Vice President.
This couldn’t be worse for Democrats. The popular governor has decades of legislative experience and legitimizes Trump’s campaign.
Trump already had RECORD BREAKING voter turnout in the primary. With Pence on the ticket, we’re expecting establishment Republicans to finally rally behind Trump.
Send money quick to the Clinton Foundation Jame Comey will guard HIllary’s interest! 🙂

It’s not like people were lining up to become Trump’s VP. Mike Pence was probably the best he could have done.

Based on media reports, their appears to have been four people who could have become Trump’s VP - General Flynn, Newt Gingrich, Gov Christie and Gov Pence… two sitting governors, a General and a former speaker of he House. Who knows who else there was - but all of the four named have strong qualities, as well as their issues (particularly Flynn with his view on abortion).

So in addition to Pence there was a deeply unpopular governor, a retired politician from the 90s, and a registered Democrat with no previous political experience. Yeah, good candidates were just lining up for that job.
