Is anyone watching Donald Trumps speech tonight? I think he is seriously deconstructing. I urge his supporters to try to see it. It’s over now, but I’m sure the whole thing will be posted somewhere. I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts.
It was a bit bizarre, even for him. I turned to Jeopardy about half way through just to preserve my brain cells. There’s something seriously wrong with that man.

Marco Rubio has reversed course and will not be attending the Republican National Convention.

Trump’s Favorite Dictators (in Trump’s own words):

“If you look at North Korea, this guy [Kim Jong Un], I mean, he’s like a maniac, okay? And you’ve got to give him credit. [H]e goes in, he takes over, and he’s the boss. It’s incredible. He wiped out the uncle. He wiped out this one, that one.”

“Saddam Hussein throws a little gas, everyone goes crazy. ‘Oh he’s using gas!’ ”

“He [Saddam Hussein] was a bad guy, really bad guy. But you know what he did well? He killed terrorists. He did that so good. They didn’t read them the rights — they didn’t talk, they were a terrorist, it was over. Today, Iraq is Harvard for terrorism. You want to be a terrorist, you go to Iraq. It’s like Harvard. Okay? So sad.”

“As far as Putin is concerned, I think Putin has been a very strong leader for Russia. He’s been a lot stronger than our leader, that I can tell you. I mean, for Russia.”

Tweet from Trump: “It is better to live one day as a lion than 100 years as a sheep” (a quote attributed to Benito Mussolini).

The Rasmussen poll is the only poll that has Donald Trump ahead. Every single other poll has Hillary ahead, often by double digits. Regardless, both parties have only themselves to blame should they lose, because Trump and Hillary are the most hated major party nominees in a long time. Let’s put it this way - the average percentage right now of people voting for Trump added to people voting for Clinton is roughly 75%! That means that 25% of people don’t want to vote for either candidate!
Nerd moment: Considering that the average voter turnout in presidential elections is closer to 50%, that’s actually pretty good.

Rasmussen has a C+ from 538 and leans Republican. Pinning your hopes on that poll is a bad idea!

The Democrats should lose given what a horrible candidate Clinton is, but Trump will cost them the election. It’s not too late for Catholics to demand that Republicans not nominate Donald Trump!
You underestimate the loathing for Hillary by the majority of the electorate and the loathing of career politicians Trump was my 16th choice in the primaries but I will vote for Trump over Hillary Given her dishonesty ,the damage she did when SOS and given the probability that our enemies have her emails she would be a disaster for the country.

So if the Democrats had picked someone else like Bernie Sanders, you would vote for him over Trump?

From the Guardian:
Donald Trump defended a controversial tweet that many considered antisemitic and reiterated his praise for Saddam Hussein on Wednesday in a rambling, unscripted campaign rally that will compound the fears of Republicans who question if their candidate has the discipline to reach the White House.
The billionaire’s rekindling of two controversies distracted from the difficult week being endured by his Democratic adversary, Hillary Clinton, who was excoriated by the FBI over her “extremely careless” use of emails.
Trump also doubled down his controversial statements about Saddam Hussein, the former Iraqi dictator who killed hundreds of thousands of his own people.
[O]n Wednesday, in attempting to clarify his remarks, Trump once against appeared to compliment his anti-terrorist bona fides. He insisted that he actually hated Hussein and that the media distorted his remarks. “I don’t love Saddam Hussein,” Trump said. “I hate Saddam Hussein. But he was damn good at killing terrorists.”

Trump is not a skilled politician. On top of that, his personality, no doubt influenced by his cognitive process, interferes with his ability not to get sidetracked by issues that do not do his campaign much good. He should focus on emailgate like a laser and drive the point home to his audiences on the campaign trail. If I were his manager, I would insist he concentrate on this sole issue for a few weeks. As it stands now, Trump is his own worst enemy.

I do not think I underestimate the contempt my Republican friends and I have for Trump! Your view is one view. You are wrong to think your view is shared byenough to elect TRump or else the other polls would be closer. Catholics must demand that the Republicans choose a better nominee than Trump or else it will damage the entire pro-life movement!
Accept it. Trump is the nominee. You and your friends need to vote for Trump if you are pro-life, because he is the only candidate on either side of the aisle who will address the flood of illegal immigration. This matters, because if the current demographic trend is not stopped, and indeed reversed, a conservative pro life candidate will never be elected again.

P.S. the polls at this stage are meaningless. Not one pollster predicted the rise of Trump. The game has shifted.

Illegal immigrants can’t vote, so I don’t see what bearing this has. All the Latinos and Hispanics that you seem to be referring to when you speak of demographic trends and voting are all citizens and are in the US legally. They are also mostly Catholic. It’s the fault of the Republican Party and candidates like Trump that more of them do not vote Republican.

usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2016/07/04/usa-today-suffolk-poll-voters-alarmed-trump-clinton/86632526/
Democrat Hillary Clinton’s lead over Republican Donald Trump has narrowed to five percentage points, a new USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll finds, in a groundbreaking presidential election that is sparking feelings of alarm for most voters.
The nationwide survey shows a sharply polarized electorate that believes the country is headed in the wrong direction, feels less safe living in the United States than they used to,"

Alot, just b/c someone is a minority and supports or is a republican doesn’t mean they are right.

The Black community is proud that there is a black judge in the SC, but many do feel that he betrayed them b/c of his positions.
I see.
Not 'fill in whatever minority ’ enough.

Typical racism.
And the 'no true Scotsmen ’ fallacy.

I cannot change how my friends feel and they will not be voting for Trump in Ohio. Trump must win ohio to become President as does any Republican. You claim Doom and Gloom if Trump is not elected but it is true that Doom and Gloom will come if Trump is elected as he admires Saddam Hussain!
Regardless of what Trump said, I doubt he meant it the way you think. Off the wall, you bet. Trump is used to getting things done and surrounding himself with capable people who will help achieve that. That is what I am banking on. Trump has an unbelievable desire to succeed and I am sure he will put his all into the presidency if he is elected.

As for your friends, perhaps they do not remember travelgate and the myriad of other questionable endeavors of the Clintons. I do. How many reputations have been sullied by them in their climb to power? Perhaps you should gather more friends with different opinions and round out your thinking.

Visit Google and type in youtube trump july and that will take you to the latest Trump talk.

It’s more helpful to listen to what he actually says rather than rely on CNN or CNBC or like that.

Trump also starts off his talks with the day’s current events.

It is a stupid thing to say anything positive about Saddam Hussain! It is just one of many stupid things that he has said. Real Republicans know that you cannot say stupid things every day and become President! THat why real Republicans must support the Convention dumping Trump and nominating someone else to defeat Clinton. I can’t help that my friends realize what should be obvious - Trump can’t win!
Many people voted for Trump in the primaries and still support him. Are you saying they aren’t Real Republicans?

This is exactly why many of the rank and file are upset. They and their votes are not respected.

We don’t need an unpolished leader who is going to alienate our allies and make relations with our opponents even more difficult because he says stupid things all the time.
Better than one who is above the law and protected from all wrong- doing by the FBI, media and American people.
