But why would it matter? Of course you will see all sorts of minorities at the Democrat convention because they have a strict quota system on the make up of delations.

*3. In the selection of each state’s at-large
delegation, priority of consideration
shall be given to African Americans,
Hispanics, Native Americans, Asian
Americans and Pacific Islanders and
women, if such priority of consideration
is needed to fulfill the affirmative action
goals outlined in the state’s Delegate
Selection Plan. Such remedial action is
necessary in order to overcome the
effects of past discrimination. Use of the
at-large delegation to fulfill the plan’s
affirmative action goals does not obviate
the need for the state party to conduct
outreach activities such as recruitment,
education and training. Priority of
consideration shall also be given to
other groups as described in Rule 5.(C),
which are under-represented in
Democratic Party affairs, in order to
assist in the achievement of full
participation by these groups. *

How dare the Democratic party attempt to be inclusive. Truly shocking.

Also, quotas and affirmative action are not the same thing.

Its east to look diverse when the diversity is forced. if they are so inclusive and diverse way would they need quotas???

Once again: quotas and affirmative action are different. A better understanding of this difference might help to explain that the inclusion sought by the Democratic party isn’t “forced” diversity.

When Mitch McConnell, the Senate Majority Leader was interviewed about Trump’s statements, he said, “I am willing to kind of chalk it up to a rookie mistake.” Do we really want a rookie to become our next president?
No-which is another reason to vote for Trump. Weve seen the havoc(and dead bodies) Hillary’s inexperience has caused. Trump knows how to negotiate. He expects the members of Nato to fulfill their financial obligations. About time somebody called them on it. . The free ride is over.

LOL-did you read their requirements!!! Its FORCED diversity. If it wasn’t forced they wouldn’t need the “guidelines” would they?

If it occurred naturally, then there would be no need for guidelines.

That makes me feel better about the US leaving Iraq which a number of people here in CAF keep complaining about. Our new policy should be, “If you can’t pay for us to defend you, you’re on your own!” I doubt that the government in Iraq could have afforded us. They should deal with ISIS on their own.

😉

Hence the need for affirmative action programs. When left to their own devices, people favor those who look like them, sound like them, and are part of their own social groups.

It’s a bit creepy if the RNC has no plan in place to ensure that there’s a diverse group of delegates.

Not creepy at all, Grace, it’s because the Republicans don’t elevate diversity to something virtuous in and of itself, which (the not-elevating) is sensible and healthy.

Wouldn’t that be in direct violation of the NATO treaty that we signed? Does he want to pull out of NATO?

Putin must be rubbing his hands together and beaming.
Yes, Putin would love that.

From the article:

*Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger: “And comments like this are not only ill-informed, they’re dangerous.”

Statements like these make the world more dangerous and the United States less safe," Sen. Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican and frequent Trump critic, said in a statement. “If Mr. Trump is serious about wanting to be commander-in-chief he needs to better understand the job which is to provide leadership for the United States and the free world.”

“I’m 100 percent certain how Russian President Putin feels — he’s a very happy man,” Graham said of the Trump comments’ fallout.*

It is complete insanity.

Here are the real consequences:

Donald Trump’s NATO comments are the scariest thing he’s said

From the article (and yes, if you understand international relations you will see the author is right):

*Wednesday night, Donald Trump said something that made a nuclear war between the United States and Russia more likely. With a few thoughtless words, he made World War III — the deaths of hundreds of millions of people in nuclear holocaust — plausible.

This probably scans like hyperbole, the kind of thing you hear a lot in politics. I assure you, it’s not. Not this time.

What Trump said, in an interview published by the New York Times, is that he wouldn’t necessarily defend the United States’ allies in NATO if they were attacked by a foreign power. This extended, Trump said, to the Baltic countries right on Russia’s border — countries Russia might conceivably invade.

The NATO alliance is the key deterrent against this: It is founded on a promise that an attack on one NATO country is an attack on all. Trump is directly undermining this promise.

The consequences are hard to overstate. He is trashing one of the foundations of the postwar European order, which has helped guaranteed peace on the continent for 70 years. And by equivocating on whether he would defend the Baltics, he creates a dangerous amount of uncertainty among Russians as to how seriously the US takes its NATO treaty commitments — the kind of uncertainty that, yes, could spark an actual conflict between the US and Russia.

This is what happens when you let a flamboyant reality star get this close to the highest office in the land: You get someone who doesn’t understand the machinery of state, and plays with literal nuclear fire as a result.*

I recommend further reading of the article where the argument is fully fleshed out.

Except that ISIS is now global. We helped create them. We cannot pretend they are none of our business

Somebody on here will spin Trump’s comment and then blame Hillary.

But then you end up with a group of people that do not represent the country at large. According to a recent estimate, there were 18 black delegates to the Republican convention out of 2,472 delegates in total. Doesn’t that disturb you at all that the number of black delegates at the convention is less than 1% even though black people make up more than 12% of the US population?

So if Russia started gobbling up our NATO allies in Eastern Europe, we should just sit idly by unless they pay up?

Not really, why should it? Most Jews don’t vote Republican either, but what of it?

I think we’re a little too preoccupied by race in this country.

Trump has a star on the Walk of Fame? For what?
Oh, he apparently had some idiotic television show. I guess people are always spray painting Swastikas and what not on his star. 🤷 I don’t know. An “artist” in L.A., who’s very likely some sort of insufferable militant atheist, at least managed to make something funny out of it.

I can tell the person who did this has a poor understanding of borders, the immigration process, and how immigration affects a country. But then again it’s a someone from LA. Go figure.

Pretty clever 👍
It is clever. It is non-violent way of protesting that falls within the limits of the First Amendment. Hopefully, it will lead to a real discussion of the issue rather that more shouting and name calling.
