Donald Trump's war on Megyn Kelly

Donald Trump is once again pushing the limit, bringing Megyn Kelly’s anatomy into a feud that had already opened him to charges of sexism — and the risk of losing support among the Fox News anchor’s rabid following.

After a day of escalating hostility, Trump took his attacks on Kelly to the next level on Friday night, apparently insinuating that the moderator had been menstruating when she questioned him during Thursday’s first Republican debate.

The crudeness of the comment sparked an immediate flurry of rebukes, including from RedState.com’s Erick Erickson who revoked an invitation for Trump to speak at his Saturday conference on the grounds that it showed he wasn’t a “legitimate” candidate.

On Saturday morning, Trump appeared to tweet a clarification of his previous remark: Re Megyn Kelly quote: “you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever” (NOSE). Just got on w/thought.

Trump says some things that need to be said, but on the whole his presence in the early campaign is just a distraction from the real issues. Instead the issue becomes himself and not national problems. I hope he is on the road to self-destruction with this feud.
 
First off, I’m not for Trump nor have I voted for him in any online polls.

Maybe Megyn should not have asked the question, I heard this discussion.

I doubt if the moderators will ask similar embarrassing questions to the other candidates, but all the same, Trump should have answered the question on Thursday night that our country worries about political correctness and needs to deal with the issues and then, moved on from there. Many of us have used snarky name-calling in our lives. He is just making the situation worse.
 
It was posted in the debate thread and frankly I think he’s being a complete jerk to put it nicely. He was asked legit questions about his previous statements about women and he cried poor me and then went on twitter and called Megyn Kelly a bimbo. As far as I’m concerned we don’t need a person like that at POTUS. This woman will not vote for him ever. And I actually used to like Trump back in the 1980s and read his first book.

She asked a legit question as far as I’m concerned. They were all asked questions about previous statements made and given the opportunity to address them. He was not singled out in being asked about previous statements. Instead of actually having an articulate answer he make a tasteless joke and then gave an insincere answer.
 
It looked like Fox was trying to make Jeb Bush look like the nominee.

I don’t know if I’ll actually vote for Trump because I like Dr. Carson, but you could really tell the moderators wanted to dismantle Trump’s campaign.

The so called pledge to not run as an Independent was intentional to make Trump not look like a loyal party member. The very first question asked is the one about women. You could tell it was going to be a rough night for Trump.

I largely agree with this. I know the question they asked Walker was something like “you promised to bring 250,000 jobs to Wisconsin but have provided only half of that so far”, so I’m not sure if it is exactly on past things they said. This question to Walker, does indeed seem legitimate to ask.

Trump is being immature; although it’s not a great trait to call someone names, it may be tasteless but it isn’t a crime, it’s not driving drunk or anything, he needs to move on.
 
I think the moderators, especially the female one, had it out for Trump. The first question about pledging to not run independently, fairly asked, by why hammered on when time constraints were so tight? The question about women, I don’t know, she seemed to be picking words from various places and who knows if they were out of context. It will be something he’s hammered on.

I wondered about her pro-life questions. I think she was trying to make the pro-life people look bad and to compromise their values. When she asked the senator from Florida, why he believes it’s ok to abort rape and incest babies, the look on his face made me think she caught him. But when he answered, it was obvious that the look was really because he hadn’t had any idea what she was talking about because he has always been against these types of abortions. She didn’t follow up with any proof of what she said, which they did on other questions, so it really raised my eyebrows.

Then when she asked Gov Walker why he was against all abortion, even when the mothers’ life is threatened (since some high percentage of the population thought it was ok) that reinforced to me that she had her own agenda to influence the pro-life stance of the Republican party.

I used to watch her show, but not sure if I will anymore.

The after debate show was just the commentators sympathizing with each other about how Trump was mean to them and how hard they worked on these questions. Totally uninteresting, and I thought another method to sway the voters. I don’t know why they don’t think that their hidden agendas shouldn’t be questioned. Like the press are above everyone? They’re the greatest reason this country is so messed up, because they sway the message so much and no one challenges them.

Disgusting that they did that. As voter, it makes me wonder that they’re so worried about being politically correct that they can’t tie their shoes without checking the offense meter, or if they’re under Republican orders to undermine Trump.

IF he does run independently, it’s groups like this who are to blame.

Yes and no. Trump’s (dare I use the word on here) uncharitable comments are not acceptable.

However, his criticism of the elites is drawing a good following among those sick and tired of people selling out at the DC table.

Frankly, if republicans had stood on principle instead of listening to the whispers of (now, now, don’t offend Hispanics, single women and independents), people wouldn’t gravitate to Trump so much.

Additionally, the Democrats are having problems of their own. The fact that Joe Biden has had such bad/competitive match-up numbers as a sitting VP and how Hillary’s numbers have come down so fast before the first debate and long before the SuperPacs launch their ads should be making a lot of democrats nervous.

The “blue wall” is crumbling.

Fox Network doesn’t want Trump for President.

They want all the bought and sold establishment candidates as the Republican nominee.

Good to see Trump going after these NeoCon and Liberal News Media Talking Heads; they wield too much power and influence over the hearts and minds of the American People.

If the Media doesn’t want Trump as President then Trump should be President.

Wait what? Trump admits that he’s bought and sold politicians while on national TV in the Republican debate and people are accusing Fox of doing the same and saying that makes Trump a worthy candidate? So basically Trump has done what you claim Fox is doing now but it’s ok for him to do it and that makes him POTUS worthy.

That makes no sense.
 
I don’t see that this comment was referring to her female anatomy at all. I wouldn’t have even considered that if it weren’t put forth. It is certainly possible he meant it that way. Even if he did mean this it isn’t nearly as offensive as Hillary’s ‘we came, we saw, he died’, McCain’s ‘bomb, bomb, bomb… bomb, Iran’ or GOP partisans booing the Golden Rule the last election cycle.

I actually am enjoying Trump. In the days gone by politics was a nasty affair. These days the political civility is feigned. It is not based on Christian values but on a gentlemen’s agreement to work together for their own good at our expense.

Megyn definitely went after Trump. And, I believe Trump said she looked like she was bleeding from the nose, nothing to do withher monthly cycle. Her expression to me was totally snarky, and she definitely seemed to be against the idea that abortion should be banned also for rape victims or if the “mother is is danger” mantra. She said that 83% of the population agreed with this and seemed to believe that if a GOP candidate didn’t agree with that he wouldn’t be elected. This was said at an a audience on her show last night. No apologies for her behavior the night before, so won’t be watching her again.

I’m disgusted with Megyn. I’m not saying I’d vote for Trump, but her attacks were vicious. She’s Catholic and evidently left her faith at the door about the abortion issue. Very few women now are in danger giving birth. Rape victims who get pregnant always have been a small minority, and she should know this.

And yes religious freedom was given a very short shrift, nothing at all. I was proud of our Catholic candidate, Marc Rubio,. Also Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz were outstanding. Kasich disappointed me about the SS wedding scenario. I thought he was Catholic but he’s not.

The way things are going, The Donald could probably set up a rival event at the same time as the Red State meeting and get better attendance and ratings.

Frankly, I think that Trump and Megyn Kelly deserve each other. On Trump’s side, he apparently has no filter between his brain and his mouth, while on Kelly’s side, does she really expect to be taken seriously talking about the objectification of women, after posing for PG-rated skin pics?

As Path_Finder said, we have many months to go. Either Trump is going to pull a major Humpty-Dumpty, or he’s going to be a shoo-in for the nomination, and perhaps the White House.

Trump’s comments were not “politically incorrect” they were outright rude, bordering on abusive. He has a history of making offensive comments about anyone who ticks him off and I think Ms Kelly’s question was legitimate. Do we want somebody in the White House who might call the French President a frog in a fit of pique? Donald’s just the one to do it.

I didn’t note that. They asked Kasik pointed question about gay marriage and his support of Medicaid expansion . They asked Rubio about his past support of abortion in cases of rape and incest . They asked perry if he really thought he was prepared to be president this time around . They ask Bush about his support of the core education program They pressed Carson about the many uninformed statements he is made about foreign-policy . In fact they had tough questions of everybody on the stage- yet only Trump came out the next day attacking moderators, calling Megyn Kelly a Bimbo and implying she must be having her period.

Trump supporters remind me very much of Ron Paul supporters. Thin-skinned and always whining about how ill their candidate is treated .

Make No mistake . Donald Trump is in this race for two and only two reasons. Number one is to stroke his enormous ego and number two is to do everything possible to make Hillary Clinton the next president of United States

It sounded like “Red State” is somewhat of an arm of “Townhall.com” which most of us know of.

I’ve read things from Red State I did not agree with.

Perhaps, as some people have talked about, Trump can rein in some of his remarks a bit, I think he did actually before the debate and for about 10 days but here we all are, back in this situation similar to the situation with McCain.
