Is there something wrong with that, Joie?
It ignores the fact that immigration has massively helped the US and that immigrants are twice as likely as American born people to start businesses. Immigrants are overall a net positive and job creators.
  1. That Trump used the phrase “disgusting animals” to refer to women. Where did he use that phrase?
  2. The accusation about women kneeling - this was something brought up by a contestant on his show.

Twice elected Bush the second called a reporter a ‘major league ***’. The difference was Bush said that in what he thought was private. But does that matter? Maybe it is better to have a president who is himself in public versus one who acts a role.

Can you explain what you mean by ‘as a man’?

I personally don’t put much stock in awards. Obama won the Novel Peace Prize for merely being elected president. I don’t see Pulitzer Prizes as being any more honest.

I don’t find Krauthammer particularly smart. I find he extremely creepy for the detached way he advocates making war, bombing, and killing. This may seem level headed but to me it is depraved. It might seem less so because he has so much company in his depravity. It is an American vice, if so horrible an impulse can be called such. But compared to other Fox News personalities he may seem more moderate.
Calling someone an *** is both common and gender neutral.
The Republican Nominee will have to run against the democrats claim the republicans have declared a war ion women. Given that shouldn’t the republican candidate for President have to explain his referring to woman as ugly, or fat or bimbos, etc? Do you really think his democrat opponent will ignore this?
It is far more important to some people that they elect someone of ideological purity even if it means handing the presidency to Clinton than electing someone who is close to Republican values and could actually win.
Not only that, but why are the moderator’s opinions even injected into the question? Just ask the question, don’t start with your opinion “abortion has save so many women’s lives, why are you against it?”
The Republican candidate would be taken to task for that.
Eric Erickson is one he called “loser”, Lindsay Graham he called an “idiot”.

So we can say Trump has called men “loser” and “idiot”.

:aok:

So, let’s not forget, some of these same people have likewise, used name calling.

Not that it is becoming.
Trump calls everyone he doesn’t like those words. Erickson happens to also have made a lot of misogynistic comments.
Isn’t the purpose of a debate among candidates,to discuss policies, their platforms? All to give the voters a window into where they stand on important issues? If we are going to be intellectually consistent, love or hate or whatever your opinion of Trump may be,the opening questions directed towards him, really had nothing to offer in terms of other candidates debating these topics. It was clearly an attempt by MK,Fox news,to call the Donald out on his behavior. Not pertinent to the debate. Those of you who persist in defending MK shoddy performance, would most likely be screaming foul if this happened on a more liberal venue. Also, any of your pet candidates had been attacked in a similar way.Again, most everyone who is put off by this whole DT incident,do not particularly care for him or want him as a candidate,he just wasn’t treated fairly.
The purpose of this debate, more of an interview really, was to get to know the candidates and expose their qualities that may make voters more hesitant about the candidates.
I can totally see Trump getting into a contentious argument with someone like Angela Merkel and blaming it on her menopause.
Indeed
Oh, Iran, chopping up babies, illegal immigration, debt limits, unfunded mandates, disastrous Obamanomics, Obamacare repeal, IRS political audits, Hillary’s illegal e-mail destruction, Obama’s unconstitutional executive actions, EPA tyranny, “climate change”, Fast and Furious, Benghazi, Chinese technology thefts, etc, etc. :o
We have almost half a year until the first primary.

By the time the New York Times, the New Yorker, CNN, MSNBC, late night TV, Hollywood, Foreign Media (think BBC) and the Left Wing Facebook / Twitter Brigade are done with Trump, Hillary I predict will take about 40 states in the electoral college - 40 at a minimum. Sea of blue. I’d bet on it.
Carly Fiorina said on Fox News Sunday:
I would also remind you that at this time in previous presidential elections, the polls, pundits and money said that Jimmy Carter couldn’t win, Ronald Reagan couldn’t win, Bill Clinton couldn’t win and Barack Obama couldn’t win.
So, the truth is this race has just gotten started. And game on.

Thomas Sowell:
We still have momentous national issues. In fact, the threat of a nuclear Iran with intercontinental missiles is a threat to the survival of America and of Western civilization. The issue could not be bigger.
But this issue did not get even half the attention as was lavished on Donald Trump. Even in the earlier “debate” among the second-tier candidates, where Trump was not present, the first question asked was about Donald Trump.
Nothing could more plainly, or more painfully, show what is wrong with the priorities of the media.

He might appeal to some of the rural PA see-no-evil types. People who thought Paterno could do no wrong seem like the kind of people who buy into Trump’s nonsense.
This is so absolutely elitist and insulting that it’s not even funny. Exactly “what kind of people” are these?

This is almost as good as the Elitist in Chief’s “bitter clingers” comment.

I heard a woman on Hannity, guest, with her heartfelt speech on the plight of the Yeshidis and Christians in the Middle East. Okay, Fox to their credit have covered some of this, perhaps more than the other networks, but this certainly could have been discussed more the other night.

I see Trump has spoken today and he said he’d knock ISIS out. This is what we need to hear.

In this, Trump of course, is not the only candidate who has stated a case for more action over there.

Unions often have corruption, some organized crime figures were arrested a few years ago, in NY/NJ and they stated they still dealt with the Unions.

Christie per last Friday, makes jokes about Bridgegate, it isn’t Christie’s party that has been associated with shenanigans in New Jersey. Clean as a whistle, one of his court appointees I heard raised some eyebrows though. It didn’t have to do with corruption though.

30,000 missing emails, one wonders why this is not discussed more.

:rotfl:
I knew we would end up here: “that’s a bridge too far” (re a Hillary presidency) “we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it” (re the general election) “just another bridge to cross” (accepting nomination speech re general election) Maybe a long shot of him walking triumphantly over a bridge in one of his ads…in a suit looking very sanctimonious, yet eager, competent, little red faced from the exertion

I like Christie - sorry, I just do. I think he is one of the better candidates.

It seems to be a major feature of Trump’s personality to actively strike back when he thinks he has been insulted. The problem is he almost always thinks others are insulting him and takes nearly everything at a personal level. While many find it refreshing that he candidly speaks his mind (or does he regarding the social issues, in particular?), especially those who agree with his views, this impulsive way of thinking and speaking is really not something we need in a President, who must engage in diplomacy with world leaders and work with both parties of Congress. For a skilled businessman, Trump has a kind of little-boy attitude in interacting with other people.

I also like Christie despite his petulance and lack of cool at times. This aspect of his personality reminds me of, well, Trump. But he has more knowledge of politics and governing than Trump will ever have and he practices New Jersey politics, so his irate tone and style are a given.

There are a lot of quotes but I don’t see where he ever used the phrase: “disgusting animal” to refer to a woman. This looks to me like something made up by Megyn Kelly in her unprofessional attempt to trash Mr. Trump.

It is a bit seedy admittedly but I understand the “knees” bit, was started by some ex-Playboy bunny on the set, so in other words, it’s not like Trump just came out with saying that. There is a lead up to that.
There is a lead up, yes, but it was how one contestant described her behavior and he meant it in a on her knees in desperate or pleading manner not in the sexualized way that The D. then turned it in into.
“Excuse me, you DROPPED to your knees?”, Trump directs towards Brande.
“Yes,” Brande responds.
It’s at this point that you can see the wheels of Trump’s dirty mind turning, verrrrrrry slowly yet very surely. A full six seconds, which is an ETERNITY of time in the rapid-paced world of reality television editing, expire before Trump responds, “It must be a pretty picture. You dropping to your knees.”
It was misleading and unprofessional for Megyn Kelly to imply that this was something that originated with Mr. Trump.
Well, it did start with him.

I think I admitted it was seedy, it’s just a tv show, I’ve never even seen and no, I don’t know if I read this the way you imply it. This woman was a playboy bunny after all.

Agreed. After the debate Trump stayed up late sending out disparaging twitter messages. Certainly not a sign of maturity.

Nate Silver has calculated the odds of Trump winning the GOP nomination at 2%. That might be a bit high.

And many other prognosticators said Trump would still not be in the race by now.

At least, Trump employs 1000s of people, and Mr. Silverman?

So? Do you think it’s okay to make remarks like that? Is it becoming of a candidate for president? I expect better of a student council president in high school, even more of the president of my country.

And it was innocent what the Playboy bunny, Brande, did? It’s a TV show, who knows if this was scripted, it’s raunchy, but it would be just a TV show. What’s a former Playboy Bunny doing in the show already?

The same thing that all the other celebrities were doing: Trying to be selected Celebrity Apprentice and have money donated to the charity of their choice. Consider that the comment was said in a board room and it was like a job interview.

No, it did not. The video and your link show that the comment started with Bret Michaels:
" Bret explains to his eventual executioners that, at one point, Brande “got down on her knees and passionately said, ‘I want to do this.’” The innuendo was too thick for a goon like Donald Trump to let the statement simply slide.

“Excuse me, you DROPPED to your knees?”, Trump directs towards Brande."
