Glad to see this. For awhile I thought she would get in and start a war that would end up dragging my country along for the ride. I’m so glad people didn’t believe the lies that were said about Donald Trump.
I’m also glad because my other fear was not only would she start using your government to silence Catholics, but after doing so the countries that would no doubt follow suit because of how influential the US is.
I’m excited though, because the prospect of Trump doing a deal with Canada and scaring my Prime Minster makes me feel great.

Colorado is starting to sound much like Canada, or at least Ontario. Ontario has much of the same things you mentioned above and it’s collapsing in on itself.

The Trump victory in my state (Mo) was bigger than I expected, and it seems to have carried through into the down ballot.
In my judgment, Trump is not an ideologue of any kind. He’s a pragmatist who solves problems and makes things work. Hope he can do that in political governance.
Regardless, we seem to be given a reprieve from a “Catholic Spring” at least for awhile. I do not expect Trump to do anything to aid the Church, but neither do I expect him to do anything to harm it. Nowadays, that’s a lot.
And quite possibly the Clintons’ fingers will finally be removed from the public cookie jar.

That’s kind of where I’m at, too.
I am surprised that Trump won. I was surprised that he won the primary, too. I am hoping that he continues to surprise by being a good president. Not for Trump’s sake, but for the sake of the country.
One thing is for sure, I’ve lost even more faith in the predictive power of polls.
I’m guessing that a lot of people voted for Trump who just weren’t that vocal about it for fear of being painted as racist, sexist and/or xenophobic. I can understand that. Just a casual scroll through my Facebook feed shows a lot of people who are only too willing to write off half the country as such. That is where I really pray that healing and perspective can come in. Half the country did not vote for Trump because they want to reinstitute Jim Crow laws and oppress women. Until we can understand that, the polarization will only get worse.

The fact that some people are bigoted with regard to Christians is a moral failing on their part, not mine.
Furthermore, the fact that some people have been brainwashed about who and what Trump is is a result of their own lack of skepticism towards media narratives and towards the overarching Democratic offense against him. I would encourage you to be more of a critical thinker. Trump was painted as Trump was painted because that’s all the other side had.

You’re right that we don’t want to become complacent. When we know the government opposes us, it is easier to see why we need to work so hard to protect the life of the unborn, religious liberty, etc. We want to work (and pray) just as hard now. We cannot leave it to the politicians to do all the work for us.

We are evangelizing here in the USA. It’s one of the reasons Trump won. I don’t expect him to ban abortions, but to keep a firm check on them and limit them–which would be a step in the right direction. Of course the abortion supporters are going to scream. Let them. Apparently a good majority of the American people don’t agree with their agenda.

We are compassionate, kind and forgiving–sometimes to a fault. There’s much more hype than truth in a lot of the shouting and rioting you may have seen. It IS true to an extent though. You all can choose to shrug and ignore it and only call out oppression if it is only against “your” people (if I’m being too specific, I’m probably subconsciously thinking of the people i know), and have liberals take over and brainwash each other, or you can reiterate the message of the inclusive love our church has and hopefully show people that you are not like that stereotype.
Might not have a huge result immediately but slowly but surely we will see more people not being afraid of republicans. Continue to let the nasty republicans be the voice, nothing will change!
In an ideal world, stereotypes shouldn’t exist. But this world sucks and we all gotta do what we gotta do to progress. I have to work twice as hard just so I can show people that my race can be successful. I shouldn’t, but it’s nice to see my friends in the same ethnic group telling me that they are happy that I was the top student and all…hope i make sense.
Bottomline is that you can’t just sit there and expect people to change their opinion. You need to show them that your religion is not vain! It affects us too, you know!

Not unlikely in any close election. The electors are assigned according to population, but there is roundoff error in that assignment, plus the states vary in turnout.
