So I’ve seen a lot of discussion about what bible to get. Many people seem to recommend the DR Bible Translation (and not the NAB) because it comes from the Latin Vulgate. I, coming from a Protestant background, have many bibles of many different translations: NIV, NASV, ESV, KJV, and NKJV. All of these translations say that they were translated using the most up-to-date language professors and what not using the earliest available manuscripts (or something along those lines). If the NIV, NASV, etc, all say that they are using the manuscripts, and the DR translation comes from the Latin Vulate, then why should I get a DR translation? It just seems to me that the translations that were translated from the manuscripts THEMSELVES would be more accurate than the DR bible, which is translated from the LV.
I’m not trying to start a debate or anything, just looking for good solid reasons as to why I would want to get a DR bible. Thanks for you time!!
