Of course, in all of this (and I’m not advocating theft or illegal activity), the RIAA wants you to know that their action is all because these poor billionaire artists like Metallica and Madonna and the lesser known millionaire artists (who benefit by the exposure that happens due to sharing and trading music) are being jipped out of an extra million or so maybe ( and that’s a big maybe).
Again, I’m not saying that downloading stuff is legal or moral. Most of it isn’t. But I am saying that the industry has the money and the lawyers to get the law written how they want and they’ve got the lawyers to argue the cases to get the decisions they want for all these poor, starving artists like Madonna.
You know, the true up-and-coming artists are practically giving their stuff away to get exposure. That’s what I find interesting.
