Dresses are just big shirts. It is pants that are marked for gender.

Are they? Not in every culture traditionally and not in ours at the present time. And in our culture big shirts, also known as dresses, are definitely feminine attire.

“dresses are just big shirts” But is a hot dog a sandwich???

Yes, that is the modern political point of view. Men tricked women out of all the good jobs and then prevented them from applying by keeping all the pants for themselves. “I could be a pipe fitter too, if I had pants!”, said no one.

I would think that people, especially the women, would dress appropriately, but that is not the case! I am appalled at the attire that women wear to church! For example, Leggings should not be worn in public…this is just a thigh pair of pantie hose and shows every curve on their bodies…last Saturday evening this women and her daughters brought up the Gifts and all were wearing Leggings! Women need to dress more conservatively and leave their party clothes at home. A nice dress or pants always look good. I like to dress nice because I feel good knowing that I am in the Lord’s house. Also, we don’t want to see your breasts…and please leave your flip flops and shorts for the beach! I could go on and on…being a woman who always dress professionally in my career and know that clothes do make a “statement”! Men always dress appropriately in church…women could learn a lot by the way a man dresses. Women follow fads…ugh! Women take a good look in the mirror before you accuse any guy for harassment…You dress so sloppy!

the fashion industry are making a fortune from these inappropriate attire and women are their main customers. They need to look in the mirror before they leave their house!

I’m sorry, I don’t think I really understand what you’re trying to say here and I definitely don’t understand how it related to my comment. What is the modern political point of view? That clothing and how we view it as masculine or feminine is cultural? Because that is what I was trying to say.

Remember culottes? Standing straight with the legs together, at first glance it wasn’t always apparent it wasn’t a skirt, but when the person began walking, then you realized it wasn’t a skirt at all! The first time I saw one, I thought it was so neat I had to buy a pair! They’ve been in fashion once or twice since the 40s.

1940s split skirt culottes

Hmmm… I can’t say my experience has been the same. I’ve seen men in shorts and flip-flops and I’ve seen men in t-shirts with vulgar sayings on them. I’ve occasionally seen men in pants that are hanging so low that you can see their underwear, in spite of the belt around their upper thighs. I’ve seen men in baseball hats and the occasional cowboy hat.

Dress code? Common sense- Nothing revealing. I wear a suit when I can, but if I’m on the way to work- Respectful. Who cares, as long as you attend? Everyone is welcome.

Women take a good look in the mirror before you accuse any guy for harassment…
In essence, “I’m not an object don’t look at or talk about my body but I’m wearing revealing stuff so please look at and talk about my body.”

lol

Why wear revealing clothes to Church? I know some crave the attention, however, Church is not the proper place…a bar would be a great place!

I think we’re saying the same thing regarding Mass attire.

But why wear overly revealing clothes in the first place? Modesty is a good thing.

I can all but agree with you! So why do women wear revealing attire…attention?..can’t find clothes that fit?..want to show the world their new surgical procedure?..must I confess…when I was young, during the mini shirt era, I wore them to work! I was tall, thin and was called “legs” by the men co-workers! Nothing was exposed, though. I worked for many years, and one must realize that clothes do make a statement…it is all psychological…if you feel good about yourself, care about your appearance, you will strive to dress appropriately cause you CARE!

Her hair was very thin from all the dye, and let’s not forget her makeup…I’m sure it took hours to remove, if she actually did remove it! I then realized that I shouldn’t judge her because she probably was
going to her night time job after Mass.
Extremely uncalled for. What a horrible thing to say.
