Dress Code for Mass

Ya, kinda wondering the same thing. Up here in the land of ice and snow, leggings are a thing from like October to April.

I’m really confused how wearing them means you don’t care about your appearance…I find it the opposite.
 
I wear cargo pants to Church… I hope that I haven’t offended anyone 😉

Hello…Leggings are just a pair of glorified panty hose. There is NOTHING appropriate about them! The designer of Leggings is laughing all the way to the bank! It, hopefully, is just a fad that will be replaced by something else. Just like the low waisted pants that women with large waists loved. Glad the jeans are back that sit now at the waist and make us small waist women look better. No…Please care how you look…especially in God’s house…
 
Yup, Leggings are just a fad…That is why most women I know from northern climates have been wearing them since about the 1980s. If not before when they were called ski pants or stirrup pants.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but based on what you’ve said so far, it’s a bit hard to take you seriously when you actually hold up Barbie as an image women should follow and make over-the-top comments about normal clothing items. I’m out, have a nice day.

Oh I see now. This isn’t really about clothes, but rather an opportunity to blast women who may weigh more than you. It’s all become clear now.

This is the kind of staple outfit I wear in the winter (but without high heels). There is nothing inappropriate about it.

That is a very nice jacket. And, I wish I could find a nice oversized sweater like that.

Not all parishes do.
I belong to a parish that had 3 worship sites. None of the adult servers wear albs.
At one parish, the few kids we do have serve wear an alb.
At the other 2 the kids don’t wear them either. 🤷
 
Of course… One doesn’t have to go back too far - to get to the time when no one dressed such as has been occurring as is mentioned above. In accordance to their means - virtually everyone dressed in their ‘Sunday Best’ - and had no problem whatsoever in doing just that… And Often as not - went home - had a Sunday Dinner - and Relaxed.

Lustful Temptations can easily baffle the mind - and the devil knows this and nudges for it re: Clothes and/or the always growing lack of them.

Most men and women know that it’s generally some women who go beyond modesty at Church;
and that comment re: Men still holds…

Throughout History no such habits of immodest dress as has been noted existed at Masses until roughly beginning c. 40 yrs ago.

The ultimate resposibility re: modest dress at Mass - lies with bishops, pastors and celebrating priests: and to whom this following applies - were called out for lacking backbone to lead their flocks with regard to not only exposures of Flesh in the House of God - and also for some problems which cropped up pertaining to the loss of the sense of Piety and Quietude.
 
We, women, should always dress conservatively at church. We are not there to seek attention or make a statement by our choice of attire. I like fashion and have always dressed appropriately for church, work, or other events. I must express my opinion on the way women dress these days. Some are not conscientious about their appearance. Etiquette seems to no longer exist. If women don’t dress appropriately for Church, then they probably don’t dress appropriately for any occasion. Fads come and go. Women do get noticed for dressing inappropriately, but also, a well dressed women gets attention…the respectful attention she deserves. One can buy style, but one can not buy class! People know how you feel by the way you look. So, please leave the leggings and flip flops at home!
 
Seems a bit casual for Mass, too. And it definitely draws attention. I doubt @libbeylu would approve.

My, my! All this attention on people’s clothing in Mass! While it’s more respectful to dress conservatively, that shouldn’t be our focus when we are in church. If we are looking around at what others wear, we aren’t paying attention to the service.

When I was a kid, though, I was guilty of looking around to see how many women were wearing lacy mantillas and/or chapel caps, and what color they were – white or black. But that was when I was a kid.

We go to Mass to worship the Lord, who, by the way, ministered to folks whose manner of dress wasn’t all that tasteful.
 
I agree…but I have observed the men turning their heads and stare at the half-dressed women…oh, maybe blinders need to be pass out in Church for them…:crazy_face:
