Are you speaking of a pre V2 female’s attire in Church or in general? Or just in Australia?

If I may speak on her behalf, she wrote that she is a recent convert from a very conservative Protestant church where the ladies all wore dresses. It was a cultural shock to see women in slacks at Mass. So, she asked if we think this is all right–not, I think to stir up any animosity, but because she really wants to know what we think about it. If you read a few posts back to her last couple of posts you’ll see that while it’s not for her, she can see how others might feel fine dressing in slacks or other clothes but wishes people would dress according to the reverence of the occasion. Yeah, and many aren’t savvy about how the forum works, either. There’s a search function that can help people find threads on the topics they want to discuss–to see if they need to start a new one. It’s just a little inside joke amongst us converts. By “crossing the Tiber” we left behind Protestantism to become Catholic. Most of us had to “swim” over rather than cross by some easier means like a ferry or bridge, you see.

Same here in Brooklyn. I was shocked at the number of people wearing shorts last Sunday at Mass. I’m on the fence as to whether or not it is appropriate, though I would personally never do it. I did, however, wear shorts when going into the church last Saturday for confession, but I view that a little differently.Wow, made it to July without someone asking asking about shorts at MassShorts at Mass are the norm here in the MW during the summer months (no offense to the OP, there were alot of heated threads last Summer at shorts and Mass. Welcome to the Church!)
For the record, in the office I work in, every day is “jeans Friday” and if I could, I would wear shorts to work just like I do for Mass.
People tend to be very casual at my parish, and it is a tough line to walk. I actually sometimes would prefer to wear a suit and tie to church; however, I would stand out so much at my parish on a regular Sunday (especially in the summer), that I don’t do it because I also figure that it is not reverent to draw attention to myself. I don’t wear shorts and a t-shirt, but in the summer it is usually a short sleeve polo shirt with no logo and dress slacks.
That is why I buy light summer dresses for the summer and still be respectable for Mass.
I see now you come from a background of sola skirtura. If you choose to wear to a dress or skirt, that’s fine, but even in this post, you have once again implied that it’s not respectable for women to wear pants at Church. Even the Vatican itself doesn’t have a problem with it, as evidenced by this sign, which is posted outside each Church in Vatican City:
