Drinking Non alcholic beers?

Dear Forum

First things first, let me make a few points clear…

I am NOT an alcoholic. I have seen how absued it can be by kids at school. Plus to get drunk is a sin, which is a big no-no! :tsktsk::tsktsk:

However, i do like the malty taste that Non-Alcoholic beverages offer. O’Douls, Becks, etc.

My parents will buy some and we are allowed to have one or two.

Is it a sin to drink Non-alcoholic beers on my part??

I live in Canada, Plus im underage. But, its NON alcoholic beers. The reason i drink them is : Carbonated, i like the malty flavor (honestly though, sometimes it tastes like breadwater as i like to call it, it tastes like water squeezed from bread) plus i dont really intend to drink alcohol. Even when i become of age, im just too cautious i guess, 🤷
 
I just ran across a law at least in some place in the US (all?) where is not permitted for underage persons to drink non-alcoholic beers (it still has some alcohol in it)

Yep, we’re not Southern Baptists 😉 I don’t know what the drinking age is in Canada, but in the States, when compared to many European countries, outside of the Middle East were anything over a 0.0 BAC is a criminal offense, the drinking age in the States is one of the most toughest in the world.

To the OP, once again, depending on what the legal drinking age is in Canada, if you’re parents are letting you drink NA beer, go for it.

Even in many states in the US, when in the company of your parents, it is legal to drink alcohol.
 
There is nothing wrong with drinking near-beer. There is never anything wrong with any of the stuff you ask about.

with most things if you do to much of something you could be sining, but if you drink things in moderation than your ok.

there are few exceptions to this rule and the only one that comes to mind right now is prayer.
 
There’s nothing wrong with drinking near-beer, let alone beer. 🙂

I used to think that non-alcoholic beer (along with decaf coffee) was the most useless thing on the planet until I was pregnant and really wanted a beer! LOL

I like high alcohol Belgian beer, but if I’m in a situation where I can’t drink (working, will need to take the car, etc.,) and I want to have a beer with a sandwich (because I don’t like sweet drinks like colas), I quite enjoy O’Douls Amber.

There is one problem with non-alcoholic beer, though, and that’s that people will smell it on your breath and it smells the same as regular beer.

So true. I once bought a bottle of non-alcoholic wine by accident. Blegh! Making that stuff and selling it should be a mortal sin.

Anyway, from what I gather, the OP is asking about if he’s sinning by drinking alcohol underage.

I did a search of the Ontario Liquor Licence Act. I don’t even think non-alcoholic beer falls under these laws, but this section may be of interest of you:

I know in Saskatchewan such beverages don’t fall under the liquor laws as liquor, but not all laws in provinces are the same. For example, in Saskatchewan and Alberta, it is perfectly legal for an underaged person to receive communion wine in a religious ceremony. In Ontario, it is not permitted.
 
Even though I don’t drink, and never have (despite being of legal age), I can still tell you (in agreement with everyone else) that it is not sinful to drink alcohol. Non-alcoholic beverages should be just fine, as well.

Nonsense! That is strictly an American Protestant attitude. Amongst Europeans that would be considered ridiculous. Teenagers are attracted only to those things they think are forbidden to them by adults. In homes where the children can drink the head off of papas beer as a treat during supper, or have enough wine poured into their water to color it by their parents during a meal very rarely are attracted to hard licquor until they are adults. Children in most European families, and those from European immigrant families do not have the problems that prohibitionist Americans have.
As for the law, only in parts of the American Mid-West or the Deep South where the Southern Baptists and Presbyterians hold way would the law prohibit anything that is done in ones own home…especially involving ones own children.
However, catering alcohol to a teenagers party, where there are minors who are not your own children can result in serious trouble with the authorities anywhere in the US.

Get a real beer, and go half and half with ginger ale or seven-up. We called it a shandy in England.

It’s no a sin! It’s not even beer! It’s a beer like non alcoholic substance.

Besides, you are Canadian and you’re asking mainly Americans advice about Beer. Come on! They know nothing!😛
