Sadly. Many still do die, in service of God. Many still do work in squalid alleys ways of the thirs world. Even in the squalid alley ways of the western world. Your point is moot.More than that, pronouncements on whose religion is “real” is a glass house, at best. I doubt very much whether most of today’s Christians would measure up as the real deal in the eye of the ancients. Love em or hat em, the original Christians were a pretty tough lot. Many had lived their lives as slaves, and they walked the walk when it came to their ministries, working in the squalid alleyways of First Century Rome and Antioch, knowing and accepting that many of them would die in horrible ways for their faith.
Don’t know or care much about the mega churches. But as far as the prada wearing palace living cardinals. Have you seen their private quarters? Hardly getting fat or anyone donations.I can’t imagine they would be all that impressed with most of today’s movement: the megachurch “prosperity Gospel” preachers getting fat off of donations, the Prada-wearing cardinals and their palatial residences.
Christianity has never been a religion of perfectionist. Why do you think that those who are, Are so special? i.e saints, etcThe faithful who attend Mass every once in a while and almost never confess or do pennance.
Because we demand respect for the one true God?Guys who cry “persecution” every time pop culture gives them a razzing?
As i said. Many still do. As for me. Can i help it my forebears have fought long and hard. That i am no longer faced with that choice? You think many of those brave Christians who went to the “gladiators arena” Wouldn’t have said “Thanks cya later,” if their persecutors granted them a reprieve? But anyway. Just because, I am not faced with that decision today. Doesn’t mean, i wouldn’t die to stop it happening to my loved ones or my fellow brothers in Christ. How many of today’s lot would have the stones to give up their possessions to serve the poor and follow their faith to the bitter end in the gladiator’s arena or some crucifixion ground? Do your headcount carefully before proclaiming who is “authentic” to their own traditions.
Thats just it. Druidism hasn’t survived. Sure there are authentic paganism. In India, Africa etc. Those people although mistaken, have at least the authentic religion. Druidism of today though. Is no more than a ron hubbard type “religion”I think it says something about the power and beauty of the old pagan ways that they survived even in diluted form after many centuries of cultural
They are not reproductions at all. Calling them reproductions. Would be like destroying the mona lisa. Then having someone paint a red head in a bikini. And calling it a reproduction.(and literal) genocide by those who presumed to “save” our ancestors. Today’s druidism and other pagan faiths are not exact reproductions of the old ways for two reasons
:
Yes God bless their hearts, And it makes one think. If druidism was so grand. Why did it fall so fast?the actions of self-righteous missionary invaders
Yes sex with goats, cannibalism and ritual human sacrifice, wouldn’t go down to well in today’s society. Now would it?because the old ways would not serve us well in these times. We are not Iron-Age Celts. We live in the here and now and we work with our deities as modern people in the best ways we know how.
