people who identify themselves as active-not fallen-away or former–Roman Catholics and who advocate and defend such things as you mention as compatible with their Catholic faith.
What I’ve seen is people advocating/defending their beliefs on ‘such things’ based upon poor catechisis or rationalization. They will strongly defend ‘their’ positions on the various issues, but they won’t claim it is the Church’s position…they know it isn’t. As they post their reasoning it becomes apparent they were not taught well about what the Church teaches.
They are basically struggling with coming to terms with the Truth. Once they begin debating thier positions here, they find themselves outnumbered and overwhelmed with the same answer being given a gazillion ways no matter how they try to weasel around it. If they stay, they awaken to the Truth and grow in their faith, otherwise they tend to leave to find a more ‘accepting’ board.
