Despite a cool reception in Rome and among local bishops, the Dutch province of the Dominican order does not appear to be backing away from its recent call for priestly ministry “from below,” which would allow local communities to select whomever they wish – including married men, women and homosexuals – to celebrate the Eucharist and the other sacraments.

That proposal came in the form of a 9,500-word booklet called “Church and Ministry,” recently distributed by the Dominican order in the Netherlands to the country’s 1,300 parishes.
The booklet encourages Dutch parishes to act with “self-confidence and courage,” choosing their own ministers even in defiance of church authorities, confident that “they are able to celebrate a real and genuine Eucharist when they are together in prayer and share bread and wine.”
Wow, that is amazing. And not in a good way, either. 😦

I was thinking the U.S. had things bad, but it sounds as if the Dutch are in a totally league.

The Vatican must hold with tradition and Canon Law and not recognize this obvious defiance. If they choose to ignore edicts then it becomes more than obvious they wished to leave the mother church and change not this but every thing that they find inconvenient. I pray that they see the errors in their thinking and return to the fold.

Many of these “suggestions” will, of course, totally invalidate the Holy Mass and render it a blasphemous mockery of Christ’s sacrifice. May the Lord have mercy on their souls.

I hope the Holy Father acts quick to supress this Dominican Province. They clearly are so heretical that they have rejected an orthodox understanding of the priesthood. Such a rejection invalidated Anglican orders…if any of these “Dominican authors” become bishops their ordinations would also, perhaps, be invalid…which is a very frightening notion.

This kind of difiance on the part of women religious is not new but has been growing for about 30 years. It is part of, I believe, a downright evil, calculated effort of many nuns across our country who have united to force female ordination on the Church. They believe they are justified because historically, patriarchal men have unjustly deprived women of their God given equality with men. All over the country they have worked their way into seminaries as appointed interviewers of prospective seminarians and turning away men who are loyal to the Pope and Magisterium with the goal; of causing a shortage of vocations so that the Church will be forced to ordain women. We have a nun in our parish who was hired to take over the responsiblities of our 65 year old pastor who wishes to retire,. Instead of taking the time to get to know the many volunteer and staff members who have done a very good job for years in this very large and affluent community. Like taking candy from a baby she has deprived everyone of their ability to act and let everyone go! Our pastor must have agreed to give her free reign no matter what, he won’t intervene! Her thirst for power seems calculated and relentless. If you read Michael Rose’s book Good Bye Good Men, you will understand. Many good people have been deprived of their ministries. I am wondering how many persons all over the nation have experienced this in their parishes. My guess is this is a tried and true method by this time.
I also would like to know what dates Sr. Joan Chittester (recently censured by the Vatican for continuing to make brazen talks at major conferences defying the Church position on woman priests, abortion, homosexuality which these nuns espouse, partnering with priests who espouse these in the name of liberating the Church) spoke at a conference in Los Angeles this September.

Dear CC Joan,

What is the source concerning Sr Chittister being censured by the Vatican ?

In the Peace of Christ,

Sickening. Sounds like an excommunication might be in order.

There are so many things wrong here it’s hard to know where to begin.

CC Joan: These are Domican PRIESTS, not sisters…these priests are teaching damnable heresy.

Apparently this is par for the course for the Dutch Dominicans. The head of the OP has roundly and publicly chastised this idiocy and a number of OP provinces have done the same.

It saddens me that a province of an order founded on and dedicated to preaching orthodoxy could fall so far. 😦

I don’t understand the push for women priest.(I’ve been at work since 6:30am,so am still tired and may sound dopey).
Anyhow,in the letters of St.Paul, and i think even St.Peter mention women, like Phoebe and others,wo may have help to spread the word of God and the teachings of Jesus, just as cathectics today teach children about the faith. But no where does it say women were priests in the gospel.even in Ancient Eygpt and other places the priesthood was reserved for men.Even in pagan religions
while they may have had priestesses for say the goddess Diana, their function was NOT the same as say that of a priest of
Zesus or Apollo.
These dominicans are baseing their statement about women
in reference to the women deacons which are mentioned in the early church.Their function was to teach women and children the faith assist in the baptism of women, and to help the poor and sick.As far as we know, they were not ordained later as priests.
many ancient church writtings regarding their duties, etc. have been lost,so we aren’t all that clear on many of the things they did do .This I donot care for at all.Even the priesthood mentioned in the Old Testament(Jewish viewers of the forum know what I’m talking about) came through a man,I believe Aaron, not any woman.

As far as married priests, we do know this existed in the early church as well as celibrate priests.St.Paul I think in his letter to St.Timothy says something about a bishop must be sober, hard working ,the husband of one wife ,etc.
Their call for this does have a biblical basis.Certainly Holy Mother Church does have married deacons, who could be ordained as priests if the shortage becomes that acute, though I doubt that will happend.
As far as selecting who is the pastor, this I disagree strongly with.
Not everyone is called to the priesthood and those who administer the Eucharist must be worthy of such an honor and be legtimately ordained.
I believe this was one of the complaints which started the Polish National Catholic Church, see google or newadvent.com for more info. They weren’t happy with the pastors they were getting ,few spoke Polish, etc.
Yes,much of what they say is hersey. We need to pray they will be guided back to the right path.
