Did you get the NJB on Line, did you have to pay for it? Since it has a copyright 1985 and if you got it free are they potentially in violation of copyright laws?? Like to know, I am trying to put things for esword that are Catholic and not in violation of copyright laws to one location if possible this is the reason for my line of question. The same questions I would ask of NAB which I know is on ensips with NJB for free downloads with the deuterocannical books…

The NJB in e-Sword format was distributed online for gratis.

Distribution of the resource is a copyright violation. Mere ownership, and usage of the resource are not copyright violations, if the usage and ownership are not otherwise prohibited under the DMCA.

My current working assumptions is that unless the copyright table, or comment field contain authorization to distribute:
  • If it is in Spanish, it is being distributed in violation of copyright;
  • If it contains no copyright information, it is being distributed in violation of copyright;
  • If it contains copyright information, and the copyright date is after 1909, it is being distributed in violation of copyright;
  • If it was converted from another Bible Study Program, it is being distributed in violation of copyright;

The issue of charging for it or not,is irrelevant where copyright law is concerned. What matters is whether or not permission to distribute has been granted.

Ok so the NJB is free for distribution, now the info in the Bible does not state this. I do trust that you know what you are speaking of, but is the same true for the NAB- The New American Bible. Both of them in the info place just gives the copyright data. Neither tell me for gratis So I am wondering if NAB is for gratis…

The Other two which would be nice to load up and do not tell me if they are for gratis are the Aramaic Peshitta translation of NT one is by Murdock other is by Etheridge both on esnips. The Peshitta belongs to the eastern rite churches and dates back to shortly after the Latin Vulgate of Jerome, or about 200 years or more before the Latin Vulgate. They prove or demonstrate Peters name is Rock from the aremaic in Matt 16:18 and full of grace in Luke in 1:28.

Boy do I agree with that thank you. Also a big thanks to all who support E-Sword on this site, the Yahoo site, the e-snips site plus all the other sites who have E-Sword resources.
When I do something good my sister always says’ There is another star for your crown in heaven." I hope these people have strong necks to support the crown they will have.🙂
I just use E-sword for study but I think of all the under paid warriors for the Lord through out all of the Church’s all over the world that are benefiting from this program. How much do they appreciate this program and I wonder what wonderful things it has helped people do?
I have two programs that I paid for and used. They do not also work on my PDA. Plus they do not have half the features that E-Sword has.
I am sure that everyone else who benefits from E-Sword feels the same as I do. So thanks so much and God bless you.

I appreciate the compliment, and I am sure anyone who has worked on this appreciate the compliment, I just do what I can I certianly do not have the ability to do some of these conversions the way the computer experts, can who can write programs to transfer the whole thing in a matter of minutes or hours whatever the time frame of letting the program run. I have to do it piece by piece, with a utility program I obtained on line from Craig white.

But I would appreciate a few compliments at the on line site under the comment session, just so I can show the workings of the site and use of the site to help obtain permissions copyrighted material or convince them to market from people for converting to an esword module. I have been totally rejected by those who have Father Hardons Dictionary, and it already has been converted to an esword module by terrance but cannot post.

So far I do not know if it has gone through but it has been two weeks and have not heard any reply back for "A Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture. There is a website on line with great material for a Catholic exgesis of scripture which I would like to see an esword module, two emails over a week and no response.

So maybe a few comments in the comment section might be of help, donot want it over done though.

After viewing this concordance with verses automatically hooked to Scripture think of the possibilities of a full fledged concordance converted to an esword module.

Folks looking for someone who has a top notch OCR software program, a good scanner some time on their hands to possibly purchase and convert to an electronic copy. This book is top notch, and would make an excellent resourse for the eSword program. And it is free Public domain. We tried to make available over the last month or so Father Hardens dictionary but the people who hand his copyrighted material would not give permission to use his dictionary as an esword module, nor would they pursue to make it available through a purchased lock and key module…

1.as far as legal impediment, I am not sure the bottom of the web site says that it is a copy right 1965 edition, but if this is a modification as stated below this may be outside of the copyright not sure on this…
  1. I believe that this RSV would be better than the oxford RSV on my site.
  2. Based on the discussion on this forum, though this is not suppose to be a full fledged Catholic RSV, there is still suppose to be some problem with this, and I cannot fully explain, if you do a search on this forum, you might be able to find the discussion on this site concerning the claim to be an RSV Catholic.
3a. I foun the explaination here it is.
The text found at the web site linked geocities.com/sacra_scrip…ble_index.html is not the RSV-CE or the RSV-2CE (Ignatius 2nd edition) or the Oxford Press RSV-CE. The details can be found in this thread beginning with post #82. In a nutshell, whoever created this web site took the text of the 1971 RSV and made some edits found in the RSV-CE. The problem is the original RSV-CE was not a revision of the 1971 RSV but of the earlier 1962 RSV which differs in many places from the 1971 version. The web site above does not match any published RSV-CE and is therefore unreliable.
  1. b. That being said I believe this is the closest we have to a Catholic RSV.
  2. I do have this electronic version on my computer and email to someone Terrance or someone else.
  3. The making of an esword module from a Bible is beyond my capabilities, I need one of those expert program writers to do this one.
 
I can actually send you a Catholic Commentary, the CCC, and other Catholic modules for e-sword. I have them in my e-sword program and have my own Greek notes on the Greek Text of the N.T. Just write me with your addy and I will send them to you.

BTW. I also have the RSV without the deuterocanonicals but should be able to get it with themwithin a year or so. I also have the NASB, I got all the Greek modules except for the Textus-Receptus that has over 10,000 mistakes in it. It is what was used to get the King James versions of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Copyright. You need to obtain permission to distribute the resulting module. Given who the copyright holder is, I doubt that you will be able to obtain that permission.

Converting it to e-Sword is trivial. All that is needed is roughly 40 hours of time.
