I would like to say that the acctual moment when you “swim the Tiber” is the very moment when you are being accepted as a catechumen/candidate at the rite of acceptance.

The easter vigil mass is a wonderful moment of joy for those who recieve it by baptism or full communion into the church.

But, i claim that the most important moment is when the person says his personal yes to become a follower of Jesus and being initiated in the catholic faith.

We should not see this as some kind of magic moment when the candidates become full members of the church. It is important to make the distinction, the most important moment is acctually when somebody say their personal yes to the Lord.

Amen and Amen! Case in point, the thief on the cross.

make sense?
Makes good sense.

The thief had no possibility to join RCIA, be baptized and confirmed and recieve the eucharist.

All he could do was to say his personal yes to the Lord and that sufficed better than anything for him, can there be any better consolidation at the time of death than being assured the paradise from the mouth of the Lord himself?

Therefore i persist in saying that the most important moment is when a person say yes to Jesus.

The easter vigil is an important occasion for the individual and also for the parish that they are getting in full communion with the church, but it must not result in some kind of we and them thinking.

The catechumens and the candidates are even before the easter vigil being counted as catholics in their hearts and God has full knowledge of what is in every mans heart.

I re-read the posts again today – I’m very happy for all of us who are now in full Communion with the Catholic Church. And it is interesting how similar, but in some cases different some of our experiences are.

BUT the bottom line is He said, “Come,” We said, “Yes,” and we are now in full communion with His Church.

God bless you!

Now the rest of the journey begins! Praise God! Alleluia!.

I was baptized and the whole shebang last night. The whole 3 hours went by so fast, that I was disappointed when it ended. It was all very emotional for us. Many of us were crying, including my sponsor.

On a lighter note, I had NO idea that the oil of Chrism would be POURED on my head and RUBBED all over my head by the priest. YUCK. I was dripping with oil the rest of the night. It all came out last night after a good washing, but my hair still smells like it, which isn’t a bad thing.
Good bless! My barber used to charge me for that 🙂

Congradulations to all who came into the Catholic Church last night!! God bless you and we will be praying for your journey with Christ.

I was confirmed at the Easter Vigil…AMAZING is all I can say. I have never felt (and FEEL!) such deep joy that came during and following mass. I could have stayed up all night that night, and was WIDE awake for hours. I had also expected to be crying through the whole thing…but all I felt was PURE JOY! And couldn’t stop smiling!

My non-Catholic family doesn’t understand and isn’t real supportive. 😦 BUT…they will not rain on my parade. My whole journey has been wonderful, what an awesome faith. I only wish I had found it sooner.

Congrats to everyone!
Love to you all!

I felt exactly the same way! I didn’t go to bed until 4:30 am, because I was so excited and filled with awe and joy for hours afterward. I still get excited thinking about it now, too. 😃

My husband, Patrick, and I swam the Tiber as candidates on Easter Vigil!

It was unbelievable. I finally feel like I am HOME. Like this is where I supposed to be all along. :extrahappy:

Praise God who led us home, and thank you to all the saints whose intercessions went up to the Throne for us. I must especially thank Our Lady and St. Paul; it was through their guidance that we came to the shores of the Tiber.

Hellllo all, Yes count me in…I am only one of two “the elects” who is going through this faith journey in our parish. We just completed our first scrutiny during mass this morning.

I was so nervous in the lead up, but once I got there I felt this almighty calmness fall over me. It was so amazing…Never have I felt this this before especially when asked to front face the church members at the altar for this celebration.

I felt someone there with me keeping me calm, holding my hand and guiding the way for me… Can’t wait till Easter Vigil when both my sons ( my youngest after his 1st Holy communion this year ) and my husband, all baptised Catholic can all celebrate the holy eucharist together as one…Oh how I wait for that…

Happy Lenten journey everyone…Well done to the elects and catecumens out there…I am with you…

Count me in!!! I can hardly believe how close we are!!! 😃
There are 5 of us in my parish that are being baptized and another 8 to be confirmed.

I thought i would start a new thread for the new upcoming Catholics that will be baptized, and confirmed this Easter!!

I will be an official Catholic this Easter, I am going to be confirmed…i was baptized when i was like 13-14 years old in a Church of Christ church in Tennessee and my daughter who is 9 will be confirmed and take her 1st communion as well, my daughters were both baptized in an Episcopal church…I converted to Episcopalian a few years ago. I am going to make her veil for her since I cant find any that we both like. She likes how I am going to make hers. Next Easter my youngest daughter will just celebrate her first communion. I am so proud that my oldest is coming along with me in this journey. Its such a wonderful experience.😃

Congratulations and welcome home! I wish you and your family the best!
