The same types of people heap scorn on the Pauline Mass (indeed, some cannot conceive that there are those of us, orthodox Catholics, not Joanie Chichester/Thomas Gumbleton types, that love the NO). So hatred runs both ways. You’re right, I have to watch my attitude toward the TLM so as not to allow my views on it to be colored by some of its devotees and proponents.
Everyone should be able to be accomodated in their preference of liturgy. Each vicariate should be required to offer a TLM, a traditional NO, an innovative NO, a LifeTeen and Charismatic mass, for a period of time. Let the market decide which ones will continue in a parish but one of each should continue in the Diocese.

That’s my opinion, but who the heck am I anyway? 🙂

I don’t know about “innovative.” I think that should simply be crushed and the rubrics tightened up. But who the heck am I?

Well, but some people do prefer it. NCJohn likes his liturgy this way.
If we are getting the Historically Catholic NO, I think it’s only fair to offer the Innovative NO as well. Not abusive but the one with gestures and lots of “community”.

Personally, I would avoid it like the plague.

I don’t know who will sort this all out, but I believe that the Holy Spirit guides and protects the Church and it will be sorted out.

Amen!
I’m seeing it already at least in my area.
A friend of mine just attended the parish that holds the LifeTeen in the area. This used to be innovation central. They probably have the weirdest “Crucifix” I have ever seen. A metal outline of a cross with spikes coming out of it.

Well, last week for the Holy Day, the Kyrie was in Greek, the Agnus Dei in Latin.

Slowly, slowly. Our Lord does things in His own time.

I don’t wish to see the NO stamped out. But what I do want to see is it offered side by side with the TLM.

I think if this trend continues people will vote with their feet.

One of two things will happen. (Well, best case I suppose.) in 150-200 years the NO will be in tip top shape offered along with the TLM, or the NO will cease to be because people were tired of the things happening so the TLM became the norm again.

Either way, that is long after I am dead. For our generation my hope is to see a reverant NO at 9 am, a TLM at 11:00 am, and another NO at 6pm. Every Sunday in every parish. Daily Mass (if it is NO or TLM) can be dictated by the priest/Bishop.

Pax tecum!

Now just think…what if the pope said a Tridentine Rite High Mass on the High Altar at St. Peter’s Basilica for Midnight Mass this Christmas as the way to introduce the motu proprio!👍
Wishful thinking, I know.😃

In Christ,

Now you have described my fantasy of the perfect Christmas.:bounce:

Unfortunately no time for a Rosary in any language between Masses. Sunday is already a full day with the first Mass at 5.30am and the last at 8.30pm.

With ten every Sunday converting one to the Traditional should prove no problem at all. I would ask how many Priests you have there though.

Does such a large parish have a website?

And how many priests are there?

Missa Solemnis,
I think you would be surprised at the size of parishes in Asia which are quite large, and the very high Mass attendance, and especially in the Philippines, which is a Catholic country. I would guess that thistle’s parish has at least 4 priests.

Being Filipino myself I can attest to that, but I believe that my good friend Thistle was trying to more make of a case against having Traditional Mases therethen anything else, Di Ba Thistle?

Filipinos actually have a strong devotion overall to the Rosary, which he claims they would have no time for due to the crush at Mass. Having relatives there in Manila, I will make a few calls and try to track down this parish of his.

We currently have one indult mass here in the Archdiocese of Manila. Hoping and praying that we will have more after the release of the much awaited document.

I’m glad that there is one. Several posters on this forum have said they don’t and that Pilipinos wouldn’t go anyway, unable to learn Latin, I suppose or unwilling to make the effort. Which parish is it at please if could ask?.

Pinoy si ba?

There is no website.
There are 3 permanent priests and we regularly have visiting priests too.

We have 3 Masses daily Monday to Saturday and 10 Masses on Sundays.

I wouldn’t mind if they had at least one Latin Mass.
We have 3 permanent priests plus guest ones from time to time.
