Christians in Egypt are in the middle of the cross fire, a lot of churches are being burned. The oldest one dates from 300AD
Who is promoting the rage against the Christians. Is it both sides or just the one, the Morsi supporters, as I have heard.

It would seem the military government has its hands full.

Why would the Morsi supporters use this event to go after the Christians?

It almost feels like Rome where the Christians were blamed.

I haven’t seen anything where the Muslim Brotherhood has asked their members to attack Christians. They said the following yesterday:
"a spokesman for the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party condemned a recent wave of attacks against churches and Coptic property.
“Even if some Coptic leaders partook in the July 3 coup for one reason or another, that doesn’t justify any attack against them,” Murad Ali said.
“Our revolution is peaceful and we would keep taking to the streets without violence or sabotage.”

But it is a fact that their supporters are the ones burning down churches.

That is putting it mildly

Christian leaders backed the coup.

Got it. Christian leaders backed the coup so this is a backlash from the Morsi supporters.
Egypt is a predominantly Sunni Muslim country with Islam as its state religion. The percentage of adherents of various religions is a controversial topic in Egypt. An estimated** 90% are identified as Muslim**, 9% as Coptic Christians, and 1% as other Christian denominations…wikipedia
Still no peace.

.
Sort of, but it’s more a pretext for a backlash. The Copts are about 10% of the population. That means an awful lot of non-Copts, ie, Muslim Egyptians, backed the military take-over. But the Muslim Brotherhood doesn’t want to admit that. Traditionally, it is always effective to blame the Christians or Jews and then all the Muslims unite. That seems to be the MB strategy.

Muslim Brotherhood Supporters Burning Coptic Christian Churches in Egypt
But the Brotherhood was not ousted by the minority Copts. To be sure, the Copts far prefer to take their chances with a largely secular, technocratic government backed by the armed forces than the rampant persecution they endured while the Brotherhood was running the show. But it is the army, not the Copts, who ejected Morsi. AFP tries to obscure this by recounting that “the Coptic church backed Morsi’s removal, with Patriarch * Tawadros II appearing alongside army chief General Fattah al-Sisi as he announced the military coup.” As I observed in writing about the coup in the August 5 edition of National Review, however, Pope Tawadros was hardly alone — General Sisi also gathered by his side significant Islamic supremacist leaders: Grand Mufti Ahmed al-Tayeb of al-Azhar University and leaders of the Salafist al-Nour party (in addition to prominent secularists).*
In a country with a population of 80 million, Christians only make up roughly 8 million—and this is far from the first time they’ve been victims of Muslim attacks. Violence really picked up, however, after the July 3 coup that took out former President Mohammed Morsi. Pope Tawadros II urged Egyptians to prevent bloodshed just days before Wednesday’s violence.
This makes interesting reading particularly because it was a week before the church attacks:
Al Qaeda Flag Flies High Above Christian Churches

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood called for a

week of nationwide protests. Friday’s “Day of Rage” followed a violent crackdown by government forces on sit-in protests and demonstrations held by those in support of the ousted President Mursi. The protests were in multiple cities across Egypt.

I suspect the next move by the government would be to forbid mass demonstrations

This may be a duplication of another list someone else posted here, but a sickening, staggering compilation of destroyed churches and Christian institutions exists on theblaze. com now. At least 42 sites. All compliments of the Muslim Brotherhood, whom OUR government supported! 😦 Rob

Islamism seems as bad as Nazism. But im sure there are some who could identify a few good parts from either one.

Egypt needs to reestablish a Pharoh, who would always reign as primary “commander in chief” of the military just as the current king of Spain, or the queen of England should… This would ensure that the Muslim Brotherhood never assumes too much power. Royal figures everywhere should be seen as ‘protectors’ or ‘hosts’ of their people. They should be given more power.

Saudi Arabia seems to do well with their King Abdullah…👍

The following list of 58 looted and burned buildings (including convents and schools) has been verified by representatives of the Christian Churches.

The most recently updated compilation that I’ve seen is here: (EGYPT - ISLAM The list of Christian churches, schools, institutions, shops torched by the Muslim Brotherhood in the last three days)
I’ve copied just the Catholic places since this is a Catholic forum.

So these Islamists are attacking everything ‘Western’ or anything that is not Arabic then… Tourists and non-muslims fear for their lives. This seems like a form of national racism not unlike Nazism.

All the people needed was leadership to rally them up, like what Hitler did. So now that the Muslim Brotherhood has reached its pinnacle point, how long will it be until the Egyptian military runs out of steam? And with another victory under its belt, where will the Muslim Brotherhood turn next? Surely it will continue to beat every Arabic nation into shape first before it turns its eyes toward the West and Israel, right? When that time comes, the Muslim immigrants living in Europe will accuse the West of mis-treatment, and the Muslim Brotherhood will incite more rallys and killings and terrorism throughout the world… A world war will then take place that will last longer and be more devastating than anyone would care to imagine.

Well, I don’t know. The Muslim Brotherhood is attacking the ancient Christian churches that were in the land well before Islam came on the scene. The Copts are the original inhabitants of Egypt so they are not “Western.” The MB have also attacked police stations, army positions, museums, an orphanage, and a blood bank. I think the MB supporters are attacking anybody who disagrees with their idea of radical Islam.

This is a fairly good overview: What is happening in Egypt?
