I posted a few mins ago but My browser locked up and it didn’t appear to send.

so anyway I’m not very religious as far as going to church etc.
but I try not to do sins said in the bible.

I have a Catholic friend who said that Masturbation is sinful, I said I know it is according to Catholic faith but not that I’ve read in the bible, they argued with me that it was mentioned but I never read anything

the only thing that comes close is

Mat 5:28 But I say to you, Everyone looking at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

But this doesn’t seem to imply to masturbation, it just says to lust after, if this means having fantasy doing something with her then who cares if you masturbate/

you’ve already commited the main part of the sin. so yeah anyone care to elaborate

Offenses against chastity

2351 Lust is disordered desire for or inordinate enjoyment of sexual pleasure. Sexual pleasure is morally disordered when sought for itself, isolated from its procreative and unitive purposes.

2352 By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. "Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action."137 “The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose.” For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of "the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved."138

9 He knowing that the children should not be his, when he went in to his brother’s wife, spilled his seed upon the ground, lest children should be born in his brother’s name. 10 And therefore the Lord slew him, because he did a detestable thing

No, my priest said it is no longer a sin and I believe him. He is very Holy. Things are changing.

But was that masturbation, or coitus interruptis?

God never changes, and neither do His moral standards.
God love you,
Paul

No, your priest is wrong and things are not changing. Sin is Sin. Masturbation is a selfish act that is part of the culture of death. Seeking sexual gratification outside of the marital relationship and not being open to life is wrong. Someone stated the Catechism quote and I suggest you read it. Many people when they find out how horrible it is, try to stop but spend years against because it is an addiction. Some have described it as a more addictive act than marijuana or heroin.

Rabbi: Kabbalah is very explicit about the negative spiritual side-effects of masturbation. Your seed is the material by which you procreate; it is the genetic material within you that allows you the opportunity to partner with G-d.

When we let human seed go to waste, we squander G-d’s sacred and divine potential

Ok just somethings here. you say this stuff doesn’t change but I seem to remember the Sabbath being changed from saturday to sunday

I seem to remember use to you weren’t even able to pluck corn on the Sabbath but then Jesus changed and said it was alright.

The punishment for adultery use to be death, I dunno if this was approved or not by God but I dunno.

Second Humans let alot go to waste, we are probably more sinful then that then most things anyway, but I don’t remember the sperm having a seed, I remember the female having the Egg and the sperm fertilizes it.

Why do you right G-d instead of God, God isn’t even his name its Yehova or something similer someone said something with a J but since J is not in Hebrew then I don’t think it is.

but one thing I wonder, why can females have orgasm, to my knowledge doesn’t it do anything?

Without being too explicit, semen from the male contains the sperm needed to procreate.

Females provide the eggs that fertilise with the sperm.

However, these eggs aren’t secreted (not sure of word to use here) when a female orgasms, so therefore the sacred seed of life is not being spilt.

That is why a female may orgasm to help with the sex act within marriage, but if a male orgasms it must be within the woman so as to give every chance of procreating, which is the aim of sex.

Isaiah 1:13 - God begins to reveal His displeasure with the Sabbath.

Matt. 28:1; Mark 16:2,9; John 20:1,19- the Gospel writers purposely reveal Jesus’ resurrection and appearances were on Sunday. This is because Sunday had now become the most important day in the life of the Church.

Acts 20:7 - this text shows the apostolic tradition of gathering together to celebrate the Eucharist on Sunday, the “first day of the week.” Luke documents the principle worship was on Sunday because this was one of the departures from the Jewish form of worship.

1 Cor. 16:2 - Paul instructs the Corinthians to make contributions to the churches “on the first day of the week,” which is Sunday. This is because the primary day of Christian worship is Sunday.

Col. 2:16-17 - Paul teaches that the Sabbath was only a shadow of what was fulfilled in Christ, and says “let no one pass judgment any more over a Sabbath.”

2 Thess. 2:15 - we are to hold fast to apostolic tradition, whether it is oral or written. The 2,000 year-old tradition of the Church is that the apostles changed the Sabbath day of worship from Saturday to Sunday.

Heb. 4:8-9 - regarding the day of rest, if Joshua had given rest, God would not later speak of “another day,” which is Sunday, the new Sabbath. Sunday is the first day of the week and the first day of the new creation brought about by our Lord’s resurrection, which was on Sunday.

Heb. 7:12 - when there is a change in the priesthood, there is a change in the law as well. Because we have a new Priest and a new sacrifice, we also have a new day of worship, which is Sunday.

Rev 1:10 - John specifically points out that he witnesses the heavenly Eucharistic liturgy on Sunday, the Lord’s day, the new day of rest in Christ.

Matt. 16:19; 18:18 - whatever the Church binds on earth is bound in heaven. Since the resurrection, Mass has been principally celebrated on Sunday.

The punishment for adultery use to be death
Law instituted by Christ in which forgiveness of sins committed after baptism is granted through the priest’s absolution to those who with true sorrow confess their sins and promise to satisfy for the same. It is called a “sacrament” not simply a function or ceremony, because it is an outward sign instituted by Christ to impart grace to the soul. As an outward sign it comprises the actions of the penitent in presenting himself to the priest and accusing himself of his sins, and the actions of the priest in pronouncing absolution and imposing satisfaction. This whole procedure is usually called, from one of its parts, “confession”, and it is said to take place in the “tribunal of penance”, because it is a judicial process in which the penitent is at once the accuser, the person accused, and the witness, while the priest pronounces judgment and sentence. The grace conferred is deliverance from the guilt of sin and, in the case of mortal sin, from its eternal punishment; hence also reconciliation with God, justification. Finally, the confession is made not in the secrecy of the penitent’s heart nor to a layman as friend and advocate, nor to a representative of human authority, but to a duly ordained priest with requisite jurisdiction and with the “power of the keys”, i.e., the power to forgive sins which Christ granted to His Church.

Second Humans let alot go to waste, we are probably more sinful then that then most things anyway, but I don’t remember the sperm having a seed, I remember the female having the Egg and the sperm fertilizes it.

Unlike mortal sin, which involves a complete turning away from God’s love, venial sin wounds our relationship with God. The periodic confession of venial sins is also highly recommended as part of a good spiritual regimen. Actually, all sin is serious, since it hurts our relationship with our Lord and since even venial sin could lead to mortal sin or become habitual if not corrected

Why do you right G-d instead of God,

The inordinate appetite for sexual gratification, one of the seven deadly or capital vices. God has placed in the organs of generation a sensual pleasure in order to induce man to do what is necessary for the preservation of the race. To seek this pleasure, or consent to it, outside of matrimony, or contrary to the rules of married life, is siaful because it is contrary to the order established by God. Even to lust with the eyes, or heart is already a sin, as Our Lord teaches in the sermon on the Mount.

Grayzer I got a question for you - Are you trying to justify your actions?

Stay off the Porn sites:banghead:

Stay off the Porn sites:banghead:
Justify my actions? of course not, although I do not go to porn sites, in my opinon, they are pointless.

Though I must ask, what version of the bible do you use? it seems to be a bit different then the version I have?

Oh my goodness. He could be a holy man but that doesn’t mean that everything he says is right. I hope he is not the only priest with whom you speak. 😦 God NEVER changes! The nerve of this priest saying “things are changing.” Pray for that priest PLEASE! :gopray2:

Masturbation is wrong because one is seeking pleasure for oneself. All sexual acts are to be within a marriage between husband and wife and fully open to one another, and fully open to LIFE. No pill, no form of artificial birth control, no diaphram, no condom!! Period.

9 Onan, however, knew that the descendants would not
be counted as his; so whenever he had relations with his
brother’s widow, he wasted his seed on the
ground
, to avoid contributing offspring for his brother.
10 What he did greatly offended the LORD, and the LORD
took his life too. Gen 38:9-10

2394 Christ is the model of chastity. Every baptized person is called to lead a chaste life, each according to his particular state of life.

2395 Chastity means the integration of sexuality within the person. It includes an apprenticeship in self-mastery.

2396 Among the sins gravely contrary to chastity are masturbation, fornication, pornography, and homosexual practices.

2397 The covenant which spouses have freely entered into entails faithful love. It imposes on them the obligation to keep their marriage indissoluble.

2398 Fecundity is a good, a gift and an end of marriage. By giving life, spouses participate in God’s fatherhood.

2399 The regulation of births represents one of the aspects of responsible fatherhood and motherhood. Legitimate intentions on the part of the spouses do not justify recourse to morally unacceptable means (for example, direct sterilization or contraception).

The priest is misinformed

You can say whatever you want, but I don’t think you’ll go to Hell for masturbating. Lighten up. God knows men and woman are human . If it is used in a way not to hurt anyone (no porn etc…), in the privacy of your own room, to me it is not a sin. I’m not saying I practice this, it just sounds so ridiculous when it is a natural act.

Wrong. It is not a selfish act but a natural one. We are not perfect and God knows this. I don’t think people will be in Hell for this. If you are celibate, there is nothing wrong with it. And I love my priest and he doesn’t lie.

Stupid thread. Just sould of called it masturbation.

I’m sorry bella, but your priest was misinformed or gave you the wrong idea.

Masturbation is not a “natural act”. Masturbation is something that a person consciously and willfully does. Therefore it is NOT natural.

A natural act would be “wet dreams”. A person does not have control over what he/she dreams, or thinks while they are sleeping. “Wet dreams” are NOT sinful. However masturbation IS sinful.

The CCC is very clear that masturbation is wrong and sin. (Others here have already quoted the CCC).

Book Catholicism for Dummies page 191-192:
The Sixth Commandment is “Thou shall not commit adultery” and the ninth is “Thou shall not covet thy neighbor’s wife. Both deal with honoring human sexuality.

The Sixth Commandment forbids the actual, physical act of having immoral sexual activity, specifically adultery, which is sex with someone else’s spouse or a spouse cheating on their partner. But this commandment also includes fornication, which is sex between unmarried people, prostitution, pornography, homosexual activity, masturbation, group sex, rape, incest, pedophila, bestiality, necrophilla and the Ninth Commandment forbids the intentional desire and longing for immoral sexuality.
