I’d rather not. Its how I communicate. I tried straight and serious for a while. I just doesn’t work for me. 🙂
I know! That’s a great part of your appeal. Too many other posters are such dour Christians, crepe hangers when it comes to the faith. Jesus Himself had a sense of humor as exemplified by his exchange with the woman at the well who had gone through a number of husbands. 😃

This is an easy call: on one hand you have a socialist who supports the culture of death, and on the other hand you have a candidate who is pro-life from conception to natural death. This should make the call easy for all true Catholics. Vote Romney for President and support life.

How do you see humor in the exchange at the well? It seems like a very serious exchange with no humor at all.

Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come back.” The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; for you have had five husbands, and the one you have now is not your husband. What you have said is true!”

—John 4:16–18

I think that Jesus’ response was funny. I picture Him saying that with a grin on his face. 🙂

I don’t see that at all. The fact that Jesus called her out on a sinful situation would not be a moment for smiling or jesting.

Also, if you consider the entire passage, it seems clear Jesus was imparting a very serious message.

You read it the way you want to read it. I’ve already said what I think of Jesus’ remarks. 🤷

I should have provided the context earlier. It was not my intention to offend (usually :D).
No problem–I understand now. 🙂

Ever get the feeling we are all (no matter our views) just wasting time and spinning our mental wheels in this place? After all, I just cannot recall a time when anyone here ever changed their mind about anything… 🙂

Actually, When I first got to CAF I was a Rah Rah, dyed in the wool, hardcore Republican. Over the course of the last 8 years, I have become a very staunch “theological libertarian”. I used to mock people who even dared reference “Lew Rockwell”, but I find myself reviewing that site as part of my daily “breakfast”. Not that I take as gospel everything that is posted there, but my mind has been converted by the very rational editorials of Walter Block, Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, and Gary North (et al).

Okay, but that does not really answer my question…
